Trengove is on triple m at 5.30pm as well. Poor kid he's had to speak more about the issue than Tom has!!!

Makes it easier to admire him

I am surprised that no one else bought up Mark "Roo" (because I cant be bothered looking up how to spell his last name !) on "On the Couch" last night. He spoke about Trengove being an Adelaide boy and the MFC having to put a big offer on the table to keep him as Adelaide are already into him about when his contract ends next year. Did I imagine that ?

Me thinks he will be asked about that.

Interesting to hear what he says.

I was slightly skeptical of Trengove's "go home" factor prior to him being drafted, but ever since I've been left in no doubt about this guy's commitment to the cause. Possibly the most impressive all-round young player I've seen come to the club in my time.

If Scully goes up north, it will make Adelaides job a lot easier to get Jack Trengove back over the border. Not saying it will happen but it will be easier.

We will have to be a very strong club over the next decade.

Just thought people would like to know that Jack Trengove is on the Rush Hour at the moment.

They asked about if any different kind of training had been done in prep for Darwin.

Jack: No, not really, they sat in a sauna, but just had a chin wag. They are going up early to get some heat training done prior to the game.

Asked about Tom Scully situation

Jack: If he was in the same situation he would stay, saying it's not all about the money, especially if he's going to be having a long and illustrious career at Melbourne. Seemed pretty adamant that he wouldn't go if he was in the same situation. He also thinks Scully will stay.

The whole interview will probably be up in the near future on a podcast, will give more information if anything interesting comes up. But seems like they're going to finish with a comedy centric end.

on the other hand there will be more coin to throw his way though...??

He's already said he wants to stay for life. Plus Bull is here which almost certainly help a heap.

I understand both those points guys...and i do agree. But if Tom goes, the door does open.

I just want to make sure our club is ready for a lot of quiet turmoil over the next few years....This is the start of the Big Change....Free Agency begins today (almost)

You've got to remember that free agency doesn't apply until a player has been at a club for ten years. Only player that is vulnerable in 2012 is Jamar I believe. The restricted FA is for 7-year players, but MFC gets to offer a matching deal in that case.

I think you may have misunderstood what Roo said 'On the Couch' nutty. My take is that he was talking about Jackson Trengove being homesick, and very keen to return home to Victoria at the end of the season.

Yes, he was referring to Jackson Trengove not our Jack.

Why?

There is a Bond between Trenners & Tom, even if small...They got their jumpers at the same time.

If Scully leaves Adelaide will start to circle....They would love this kid. I do not want him to go at all, and i am not doubting his word.

But it will be much easier to keep these 2 boys at the MFC if the remain blood brothers IMO.

I don't agree with that at all. Tapscott, Fitzy and Gawn got their jumpers on the same day. If Scully goes to GWS it will have no bearing on Trengove, who will stay at Melbourne.

Just like there is also a bond between McLean and Sylvia as they got their jumpers at the same time.

So when McLean got the offer from Carlton then Sylvia would also leave. But wait... he didn't.

Maybe the blood brothers theory is just rubbish.

I would have thought Adelaide would be interested in Trengove regardless what Scully does. And if Scully were to stay at MFC then there is less MFC salary cap to stretch to Trengove. So Adelaide would have more scope to put a more attractive $$$ bid to Trengove. If Scully were to go then MFC would be fighting like hell to retain Trengove. Damn logic.

who ever goes back to Adelaide ???? lol

Trenners is the next Melbourne Captain in many's eyes.

Not a concern for mine

I believe the bond is between Trengove and Tapscott. They were school friends and apparently Trengove was delighted when we took Tapscott.

Frankly I'd be very upset if Scully left, but more so if another club poached Frawley!

Biggest misconception in footy. Thommo went back for family reasons. He needed to be close to his family and made it very easy for the club to strike a good deal for him in return.

I cringe when Melbourne supporters boo him. Stupid.

Besides, with the way both SA clubs are going at the moment, I don't think the proposition of going back there is very appealing. Port Adelaide are struggling to pay the electricity bills, how the hell are they going to pay for marquee players?

I know all about Trenners and the Tapp....All i am saying is that if Tom stays and is happy, Adelaide's job is that much harder.

Little sentimental and dramatic, the fact they were drafted one and two in the same draft has no impact on their relationship.

For all we know they may hate each other.

Scott Thompson went back to Adelaide, which the answer Thomo gave re Who goes back to Adelaide? The answer was correct. Could've saved your 2 cents.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
