I felt this couldn't be admired enough...

Would have to be MOTY, wouldn't it?

On another note, I was listening to MMM on the way home, and a caller mentioned that if all of our players played the game like Petterd or McKenzie, then we'd be so much better, and unfortunately I can't disagree. It's good to see Petterd's locked himself in our best 22, because he consistently takes the game on, he keeps presenting and he just doesn't stop, and same with Jordie. Both of them are going to be guns, and it'll be because of this. They're easily in the best tonight, and at least there's some good signs to come out of this game.

That's why we go to the game every week, no matter where it's played or who we're playing. I believe Ricky has trumped LJ's MOTY 2010 in that he performed his trick in front of his own cheersquad....maximum applause & plaudits from those close by. (LJ took his mark up the other end of the ground away from Cheersquad...for anyone who wasn't there). Hey Ricky, You Are So Fine!

For me it is MOTY at the moment, but everyone seems love Nic Nat so much, that I can't see it going anywhere else. I love Ricky though. Beautiful effort today, and one of few.

P.S. Thanks for putting that shot up :)

Alot of people rated Krakours from the weekend better than Nats, but i hear what your saying, ripper mark by Ricky though non the less

Yeah, true, I forgot about Krakouers. But no matter how few marks and possessions Nic Nat gets, the collective industry still just seems to have this major hard on for him. Gives me the irrits to be honest. Has potential, but at the moment, so overrated.

That photo you have there Dandeeman really contrasts how far we are off event the late 80's team .

That team had less skill but huge heart .

Jimmy always came back to help his mates in the backline.

Wight would dive in front of traffic to spoil no matter what .

Jimmy has lost a bit of speech after the last operation .

He doesn't deserve that kind of rubbish when he could have been home playing with his kids .

Maybe wave hundred dollar notes around the dressing rooms because I dont know how to motivate these kids

if the Fighting Irish Spirit isn't enough .

These guys lack the neccesary C#*T when the chips are down .

Great mark and good game by Ricky ...... worked his backside off. If that's what a short stint at Casey can do for a players approach, then I'd like to see a few more asked to follow that path.

Ricky tried all night and was rewarded with a great mark, to be placed in his highlights reel. Does anybody else think his kicking has suffered a bit, lost a couple of meters when kicking for goal?

For me 2 things came out of last night, all the team must be very young because they didnt give a yelp for Sean and second they want a pay rise for that crap!

Great mark and good work rate last night.

But the kid can't kick and makes deplorable decisions. Howe and Cook will eventually push him out of our best 22 if he doesn't get onto those weaknesses.

That's how I see it.

Can't fault his work rate or work off the ball, or any of that. But his kicking is atrocious. Really abysmal stuff. He misses almost every target he aims for. Can't dispose of it under pressure. Also can't kick 50, which isn't great for a half forward. But worst thing is, he doesn't recognise this limitation and continually tries to make the distance, inevitably resulting in kicks that drop just short enough to be rushed.

Needs to address his disposal. Quickly.

Agree with you about Nic Nat, and that's why he'll win and not Ricky. I live in Perth and they all think he's god over here, it shits me, he's not that good

Anyway great mark Ricky!

  • 3 weeks later...

I seem to be alone (or close to it) in thinking Walker's mark should not win MOTY.

Sure it was a great mark, but people talking about "best in 40 years"..? It was a chest mark! That ruins it for me.

So was Shaun Smiths, not saying Walkers is even close to as good as that, but i don't think taking it on the chest or out in front makes a huge difference. It's all about the elevation.

If people are saying best in 40 years then they're dreaming, Smith's still smashes Walkers.

It probably will win MOTY though.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
