Jeez, that was truly horrible. I can handle losing but when your captain gets spanked to such an extent it troubles me.

Great player when he is on but just cannot afford to have him as captain next year, for his and the team's sake.

I love Greeny in the forward-line as much as anyone, but why the heck was he never tried in the middle? David Neitz couldn't be blamed for getting stuck in the goal-square because he really couldn't play anywhere else. Brad Green can. When things aren't working, change them!

Played him predominately in the midfield up until a fortnight ago, this proved that he plays his best football as a forward and has no impact in the middle, didn't register a tackle in three matches.

Missed two important set shots in the first half.

Really?

Could have sworn Neitz was an All Australian at center half back. Think Carey even named him as one of his toughest opponents.

He wasn't horrible against St Kilda or Adelaide in the midfield.

The problem is he can't hold a mark out in front, can't take a pack mark and is so slow and has so little agility that as a small forward he is past it.

Shame really, but to me he's shows all the signs of a guy whose best is past him and is slipping down the slope pretty quickly after a great year last year.

The set shot he missed in the second term was criminal. As captain you must put the relatively easy chances away.

I wouldn't have thought that responsibility lies just with the captain but with any forward with a shot of the same type.

He was poor today unfortunately and as captain (something most here wanted) he needs to find a way into these kind of games.

Oops. My mistake. I thought it was obvious that I was comparing a thirty year-old David Neitz to a 30 year old Brad Green. Sorry. When your midfield is not winning, rotate anyone who can play there through, to see if you can spark something. When you're on top, change of any kind can really halt your momentum, and we didn't change enough, IMO.

cant do that with green, he doesn't win his own footy.

Is that for real? If so that is a damning statistic, even for an outside mid

yep against sydney rd1, hawthorn rd2 and north rd8...indeed damning stat for a captain

Beamer as captain for 2012

Yep, we need somone who'll at the least throw their body around a bit to show some spine and desperation... IF we going to get 'Spanked',,, at least I want our boys to bang some foreign bodies about a bit, while we're learning.

Todays footy is nowhere to hide, as an 'Outside Type' Player.

As a forward he should have got those goals.

As a captain it was more so that he needed to get those goals. e failed on both fronts.

Its times like these you need to stand up and make a statement. He was insipid and ineffectual today.

He is not in a good space at the moment. I supported him for Captain at the start of the year. The Club needs to review the whole leadership group at year end. Green and a couple of others have been underwhleming to say the least.

The whole team got spanked captain included

Greenie can't be blamed for today's game. He was in a catch 22, if he goes up field to give more support around the midfield then we lose experience up forward, it was always going to be difficult to kick a winning score today against such a seasoned back line with the players we currently have.

Poor decision making player and coach, skill execution, laziness and the lack of second efforts cost us the game.

I'd like to see Gawn and Martin stay in the side when Jamar comes back, Use Jamar as the mobile around the ground ruck, with Gawn around the midfield and loose man in defence if needed. I think Martin could be quite a good forward player, he is certainly mobile enough to aid the forward press and can take a mark.

we need to take note of ourselves here and learn from the recurring issues we have. time and again for god knows how long now we have had certain players play well then turn in shockers like today. The three who have consistently let us down have been Bruce, Green and Rivers.

Bruce is gone, Rivers is a function of being able to beat certain types like lumbering ruckman then gets carved up by big forwards like Hawkins, Cloke etc. This is also a function of Baileys obsession of recruiting midfielders on mass whilst we lack decent talls.

Green however I have no answer for. he seems too slow now. even last week he wasn't getting much separation on his opponents and hasn't all year. A couple of years ago he was our gutsiest player, almost suicidal in fact, but now he is putting too many lamentable performances together like times gone by.

i just feel only natural attrition and turning over our list will eliminate this massive inconsistencies in our performance.

Bailey's obsession with recruiting midfielders and not talls.!!!

Gawn, Jurrah, Martin, Campbell, Cook, Fitzpatrick and Davis might suggest otherwise.

Well,,, If he won't lead by example, there's only one spot for him then.

GWS, for a decent pick!

If he doesn't want to teach the right things, he can go for the Money, and we'll take the compensation then.

more a reflection on the ineptitude of leading teams I would have thought.

greeny at the start of the season was the best of a bad bunch, I personally cannot see how he can be reappointed.

i believe sylvia would make a good captain, based solely on his ability to win the hard ball and be a match winner, always seems to play well when the rest are found wanting, 2day was a perfect case in point.

Not sure when his contract is up but he would be a great buy for the GWS crew.

Just what they need, mature bodied guy who can play and never gives up.

Hope they are not reading this!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
