WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Featured Replies

Have there ever been more stories or "I heard" anecdotes about one kid? Dwayne the moron Wussell is going to have a field day.

Anyway, I heard the final Expandables movie is only going to have one cast member, Jack Viney. There's an evil clone of him and they have to fight 'til the death. The movie goes for 9 hours and there is no ending.

tsk tsk you omit the AFL TOC first rover, HOF Legend and triple brownlow medallist Bobby (Chimp) Skilton. He was actually proficient with both feet (more accurate on left) and a renowned expert of the daisycuttter

Before my time, but would have loved to see him play.

I'm pretty stoked Jack's gone second round. Watching him perform in the U18 GF last year I was pretty impressed. Can't wait to see him in the jumper, sit back and watch him progress and perform.

I'm also happy for the little black ducks out there too.

You would have....sublime

yes, it seems like only yesterday for me.Just so skilful. A footballer's footballer

Todd was my favourite Dee and would have been gutted had we missed out on Jack, love hard nuts and we need them. From what I have seen everything about this kid has had me saying just get this kid.

Couldn't be happier, icing on the cake for me would be Hogan & Toumpas!

Welcome Jack looking forward to seeing you run out next year

Stoked to have Jack Viney at the club. Here's to a long and prosperous career in Red n Blue!

I heard the movie 'Braveheart' is not actually about William Wallace, it is a biopic about JV. Same with 'Gladiator'.

His number ? Possibly 26? Lol

Has already been asked what number he would like a while back and his response was "24.... because I'm twice as good as the old man" Cheeky bugger!

Oakleigh made the grand final this year. Jack played for them last year i believe.

Did Jack play for Oakleigh in the u18's grand final this year?

if not...why not?

Was decided by the Club that he'd play for Casey and school footy (where he could) for the year, leaving him no time to play for the Chargers.

IIRC Jack didn't play TAC cup this year, as he was playing VFL until his broken jaw

Edit: Beaten to it

Here's to all the cry-babies who said we shouldn't or wouldn't take Jack with 3 or that we couldn't, shouldn't or wouldn't do a deal to get him in the second round ...

Anyone that thinks Viney is purely an inside mid go and watch his highlights on MFC website. His initial acceleration is excellent which is more important than speed over longer distances.

I came on to write the exact same thing. His acceleration looks extremely good. It's been an issue of mine recently with Melbourne players such as Trengove and Watts who do not put enough in to their first five steps. Viney will shake the midfield up next year.

that makes three of us... funny that...

he's referred to as an inside mid, but I see him doing more of his damage outside as he spreads from the contest so well... he's ability at the champs to not only win the ball, but then get on his bike and get it back, shows he can really do some damage outside as well as in...

This guy has captain written all over him. He knows all the right things to say, very impressed such a good speaker for a kid of such a young age.

I was smilling the whole way through that interview.

Number 26.

Lol..

I don't want to hear any words about any curse from now on. The football gods can smile on us too.

I think the dark clouds are clearing up. I am jacked!!!!

#12 for JV, I wore #12 way back in year 12 in '92 as TV was and still is my favourite Dee. If JV lives up to his old man I'll be a very happy chappy. if Col don't like giving up 12 for the son of a gun he can have a preseason boxing match against JV.... I'd back the kid :)

You know Sylvia's nickname is "The Kid".

You really want Sylvia to have ANOTHER injury-interrupted preseason?

If Barty moves on and 3 is available then symbolically is everything his old man was, added up,as well as being the real value (pick) he was/is to us.

It's just an if.

Not a bad thought, however if either of 3 or 5 are available i'd give them to Hogan IMO.

31 to Viney - uncompromising ruck rover, driven to succeed

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
