What I think will happen this weekend

This round will be extremely important for our club. How much time have we spent in acknowledging the indigenous roots within our team. We have gone up to support Aussie, seen how Jurrah's family lives and other such trips. The dreamtime round shows how important these players are to our game, and I think every player will take confidence and pride from how the MFC supports them.

The build up will be focussed around them, rather then our poor form.

And lets not forget our own indigenous players will hopefully pipe up with some good form and show us what they can really do. The exciting thing about that is we have a fair few of them in the team at the moment. Jurrah, Davey, Jetta, Bennell and Wonna.

Expect a HUGE game from davey.

Aussie is out unfortunately, a shame as he is always fun to watch

I have a similar feeling to last week

We never play well against the Saints or at ES

and to top it off we half lost more players to injury

and good ones as well.

The saints played in 2 GF's just a few months ago

and while they are sorely down on form and confidence the majority of the players that got them to the GF last year are still there.

Good players do not lose their skill that quickly, eventually the cream rises to the top

I think they will be too good for too long for the Dees to win.

If we give them the start that Hawthorn gave last week it will end in a sorry score line for the Dees.

We do not come back from those situations against average sides let alone good ones.

i think it's worth remembering that this saints team is Not the same as the one that lined up in the GF.

They've blooded 7 newbies this year and they've got four of them, plus the recycled Dean Polo, playing for them this week.

Tell me if you recognise these names: Jamie Cripps, Nicholas Winmar (not the St Kilda legend), Jack Steven, Arryn Siposs.......

Montagna is an important IN for them this week, but they've dropped their ruckmen (McEvoy) and replaced him with Blake as 1st ruck. Therefore neither team is strong in that area.

I honestly believe this is our best chance to beat them in a long time and our inclusions for this week, despite some of the injuries are still encouraging to me. My biggest concern is our poor play at etihad, but i still think we can get up in a close one this week.

I like the optimism of some of the posters here however; I don’t have this confidence after watching the team against North. This game really disappointed me.

Since this game, I see us as a bottom 4 side. I get more excited watching the Gold Coast play, because they are young, inexperienced, but they give their all – even if they’re losing by over 100 points.

With us, they play a lazy, uninterested type of game, which gets worse when thing don’t go their way – culture?

I think we will have an inspirational win. The leaders like Green, Maloney, Sylvia and Davey will stand up. Jones will have a strong 100th and have everyone believing that he really is good after all. Watts will improve again and Tapscott will be one of our best. And to top it all off, Evans will play well, and we will be talking about who should remain out of our line up so that he can keep his spot. After the game, all the talk will of course be about how bad Stkilda were, and the media will be bored of Melbourne for another week.

Just incase I am an absolute freak, and all of this happens; I will also add that Tom Scully agrees to a new 4 year deal, and the AFL decide that they were wrong, and reinstate Jack Trengove to play next week.

I feel quite the same way. I'm hoping for a statement, a walk-the walk as it were. In the perception thread it suggests 'not sure where to draw a line on the form', but I reckon the form from the Haw-St.K game is superior to the North-Melb game. I also think Etihad suits St.Kilda more and our form there is atrocious. The heart is willing for a win - and a statement, but the head says the Saints are morals. The only glimmer of hope is the puzzling omission of McEvoy and a good game by Martin. I can't understand that move by the Saints.

And the Cats will beat the Blues for Bobby.

Why? Why would this round be more important than any other? If MFC really do treat games as differing importance then that would be EXTREMELY worrying. And I have to add, I have not seen ANY articles (yet) about our indigenous boys, but a fair few about our poor form so far this week...

And as much as I love Flash and would love to see a HUGE game from him, I'm far from expecting it. I fear it will be up to our young fellas to provide us with some heart and leadership this week.

Goes without saying that Flash needs a HUGE game here. Needs to break lines (take em on!), kick some goals (if he's thereabouts) and put pressure on his opponent & others when he doesn't have ball and create the turnover. Ie., chase them down and tackle as he once did! Four quarters please!

I think Lyon is worried about their lack of Run, and is trying to add players who can bring some attacking play to their game style. He's in trouble if he can't get the group to work hard anymore.
