Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Maybe Watts will end up being our version of Andrew Mackie.

A high draft choice who goes to a club yearning for a match winning forward, but struggling to cope with the physicality and expectation of the position, goes to the backline and becomes an All-Australian in a premeirship team.

Top post!

Aussie not even entertained as an emergency - desperately needing a spell at Casey to find form.

Good to see Howe is on the verge too, being named emergency.

He's injured with a knee.

Ok, so here goes,

aciem: "a sharp edge, cutting part"

nuces: "to relinquish the nuts"

Could be way off the mark.

No idea about "Pone," but I think I get the general idea.

You're getting there - "put your b***s on the line"

And it was actually the unofficial school motto

"But the Dees have lost small forward Austin Wonaeamirri with a knee injury. As expected Rohan Bail (knee), Colin Garland (ankle) and Lynden Dunn (suspension) are also sidelined through injury.

"

Oh. Didn't see that. Thanks.

Has still been in some pretty ordinary form.

Good changes IMO.

Bate comes in for Dunn. Newton clearly has to play second ruck to Martin, so Bate will play as the key forward I presume.

Bennell isn't worthy of a spot in the side. He doesn't do anywhere near enough. I expect him to get an extended stint with Casey before returning (along the same lines as Morton).

Jetta may have been a tad lucky to hold his spot, but if Wonaeamirri is actually injured (debatable, given his form he may have been dropped and this is an excuse of sorts) then that might be why.

Evans and McKenzie are revitalising ins.

No player who lays more than 10 tackles in a match is ever "lucky" to hold his spot.

Anyone know if Campbell is playing at Casey this weekend?

Doggo there are no Casey games this weekend they have the Bye.

Not sure what happened to Campbell last weekend i have seen nothing on him.

Did not get mentioned in the reserves scratch match.

Mystery man at present.

Has there ever been a game in the history of AFL where no genuine ruckman has been picked for either team? (With apologies to Martin - but I think he's not yet a genuine ruckman, although a very good prospect). This could be a game where Newton rucking might actually be successful.

Mind you, McEvoy might still come in.

Watts will only play as a loose man in defense in the back line if that, we have Frwaley, Rivers, MacDonald, Warnock down back we don't need another tall. Watts will line up at CHF and unless we are getting beaten up that's where he will play

I doubt the published team positions will bear much relationship to reality on game day IMHO

Agree, but a few posters have got a little excited by Watts being named at HBF.

We will line up something like this

Bartram Warnock Rivers

Tapscott Frawley MacDonald

Davey Moloney Jones

Sylvia Watts Green

Maric Newton Jurrah

Martin Gysbert McKenzie

Evans Petterd Jetta

Sub Bate

Macdonald, Warnock, Rivers - each individual is justifiably in the team, but they make a horrible combination. Add Bartram in there and the Saints F50 will be a black hole - it'll never come back out.

IMO Bartram needs to go to Milne, I have liked his role in as our midfield stopper, but I think we don't need to play a tag this week. Tapscott did a good job on Thomas last week but as you point out we need the footy in this guys hands coming out of the Defensive 50m arc. One thing we will get with Frawley, Rivers, Bartarm, MacDonald, Warnock is some good defensive players, you can back them one on one. You play Davey as a defensive wing man to give you that second quality kick down there and it is up to our midfielders to work hard back so we get the quality back there.

Agree Nasher. Jetta and now McKenzie give us a harder edge through the middle of the ground. Until the flashy types like Morton and Bennell are prepared to put their bodies on the line and land strong tackes we have no choice but to play blokes like Jetta.

Old55 makes a good point too. There will be a stack of pressure on Davey to hit targets out of the back 50 and Frawley to tuck the ball uder the arm and getting it moving by foot.

Chippy-chippy with Riv, Nockers, Batram and MacDonald could end in tears.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
