Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Out: Grimes, Trengove

In: MacDonald, Evans

Was going to post the same thing. I agree it's a chance to reward Evans' good form by promoting him.

Don't think we should bring back any of the players dropped last week as yet and Jamar can manage another week with Dunn suppoting him.

Bate was slow and ineffective. Got caught with the ball in defence which led to a crows goal. Clearly our worst on ground.

We would be better off with Morton in his stead.

Out Grimes, Trenners, Bate

in Bennell, Martin, MacDonald

Bate had a game to forget but the fault of that 'caught in defence' was Jamar's for not looking behind Bate and seeing he would be under immediate pressure.

It's a tough one this week. A few things to consider:

Jamar cannot survive a full game on his own against Goldstein. Goldstein is in ripping form around the ground so we need an extra tall. Even though Dunn's fill-in-ruck work was much better than I expected, he will not be able to match with Goldstein. With Spencer going down Martin needs to be at least considered.

Grimes was tried in the middle, so it is possible his replcement would be a midfielder rather than a defender. Even so, Joel MacDonald will be considered but his kicking skills are questionable under pressure.

North play a very physical game and Bennell would get monstered. He does not cope with too much heavy work, so for mine he should not be considered.

Stupidly, Trenners will not get off. The MRP got this one wrong but stabnd by nad watch the tribunal agree!! This is going to be our gretest loss - this bloke is in outstanding form.

So,...

OUT Grimes, Trengove,

IN Martin, Jetta/Rivers (depending on whether they go for a mid or defender to replace Grimes)

I do love all the player bashing posts. Some people are only ever happy when they can find fault. Personally I think that if you win by 90+ points you can let go and be a little happy with the way the team played.

Warnock did a bloody good job on Tippett, beat him out every time when it came to a footrace and held his own in the marking contests. I assure you none of our other backs would have found him any less tall.

Bate was hard and determined in the forwardline. His tackling pressure was a highlight. Sure, he only kicked one goal, but he had a hand in several more. It's a fact of life that not everyone in the forward line will kick a bag every week. He served his purpose in applying heavy pressure and preventing them from running the ball out of defense.

Once again I'll say the obvious. You don't change a team that wins by that much. Grimes out if he's injured. Replace him with Joel Mac or perhaps another running mid. Other than that leave the team alone and see if they can do it again.

His size and bulk rounded off the forwardline balance nicely.. All in all, the synergy of the forwardline was due to all the changes made last week.. It's all worked thus far.

For me, only one change, and No added softness. A backup ruck, Martin or Newton.

Bate was effective. you better watch the replay. He influenced every contest around him. It's not in the stats, and if you cant see it. well.

Out: grimes, bate

In: Martin, jetta

Bate is not good enough. Martin or jamar resting in the forward line will

As much as bate does.

Jetta deserves a crack in defence. Good leg speed and tough at it, bennell

Can be a bit soft sometimes and should get another week at Casey to prove himself.

Warnock gets another week

And in the case where the Tribunal is stupid...

Out: Grimes, Trengove

Someone tell me - if you're suspended from the AFL are you eligible for the VFL?

I agree with Striker475 & boydie.

OUT: Grimes & Trengove

IN: Macdonald & Evans

When McKenzie & Scully is back to match fitness, & Trengove back from suspension, the FD is going to have to make some big outs to fit them back into the 22.

OUT: Jamar (inj.), Trengove (susp.), Grimes (inj.)

IN: Martin, Newton, Jetta

Martin is the obvious replacement for Jamar and Newton as his chop-out. We won't win many hitouts so we will need Jetta and Bartram's tackling pressure around stoppages if we are to stand a chance at all.

Out: Jamar, Grimes, Trengove.

In: No, Worthy, Replacements.

Good god, we're either going to have to throw in a Leigh Brown sized guy in Martin, or someone whos played barely half a dozen VFL games of note in Gawn to ruck.

Please no Jetta, I'd prefer we try Evans or Nicholson.

Probably by default Joel Mac comes in for Frank, but his pre season form was abominable.

OUT: Grimes, Trengove, Jamar

IN: Martin, Macdonald, Gawn

Honestly, Martin isn't big enough to go one-on-one with a Goldstein, we'll get smashed - see Hawthorn last year when they lost Renouf in the first quarter. I know he's only played a few VFL games, but hell, take the risk I figure. Better to win one in five hitouts as compared to one in ten. Get Max to spend the week doing extra technique practice with Jamar and Robbie watching him and giving pointers.

We've been giving a lot of our other young guns a shot, and we figured Max would get a go at some point this season. Why not?

Jamar put in far more draining performances last year and came up fine the next week. Dunn rucked most of the last quarter, and Jamar can handle himself.

In: MacDonald

Out: Grimes (inj)

Shows what I know.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
