Do we deserve TOP 8?

It looks like MFC will retain a top 8 position. Bar a st.kilda/Richmond massive win and the pies put away the dogs, we stay put. Let's put aside the coach's head on a plate talk, and decide if the club is worthy to retain a top eight inclusion.

With the crows next week at the G, can the side pull thier fingers out and have a "shut the puck UP everyone" win. Surely we are worthy of a bounce back victory. Are we not?

Position on the ladder matters little this early in year. Only matters at the end of the final round. We have only beaten Brisbane (just) and Gold Coast, so not a lot to ride home about. OUr two losses have both been poor. This week against Adelaide will be very interesting.

I care

That's part of the culture problem with this club. You care about being in the 8 at round 6 (Hanging in there by a thread) I care about being top 4 come September.

Time to Harden up Michael, being in the 8 right now means F#$%^k all.

Absolutely NO WAY - the current position, what with byes etc and only round 6 doesn't matter much, but if you mean end of season will we deserve - NO, unless there is some sort of miracle turnaround as happened in the latter half of 2000 when I think we were absolutely disgraced by the Dogs and Carltank mid season but ran home to make to GF.

I think we will struggle to win more than 3 more games this year Port twice and Gold coast here. And none of those games are walk up starts.

We are a seriously ordinary side and it was shown up in the NAB cup just how far off the pace we are and just how far we've slipped this year.

The new coach would snare another good draft pick........perfect......but!

Not if we got some good coaches into the organization right now, starting next week.

Cheque Book time....

It does look bleak RobbieF, I looked at the fixture today and based on the last 8 weeks form I struggled to find another win to your list.

Maybe one of the Richmond games.

That would make 6.5 wins on that basis quite a few in the FD would be looking for new jobs I would suggest.

So after four years of the much vaunted rebuild we would have risen to the heights of the bottom four.

Not sure were we finished in 2007 but was in that group from memory.

I know we could draft a 202cm 70kg forward prospect that may be up to his first game in 2020.

Not if he is a no.1 pick then we will play him every week because you have to games into them you know.

Having said that he was one of the few that deserves a game next weekend IMO

We are in the 8 by default.

We played well against Syd

crap against Hawks, then played Bris and the Suns, which you would expect wins.

AT the moment we look like a bottom 4 side.

Right now we have gone backwards.

We deserve to be where ever the ladder tells us we are.

Yes I understand we have played terrible and only beaten the easier teams, but you can only beat who you have been drawn to play and only sit where you are due to winning games and how those around you win or lose.

Those first two wins were fairly nothing victories, they were against average opposition and we didn't look particularly convincing. Adelaide was different, we were all over them and we played with passion. We deserve to be in the 8 now.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
