Anyone notice the final paragraph....?

Lynch also manages the soon-to-be-out-of-contract Tom Scully, who has been touted as a potential Greater Western Sydney signing and the club and Lynch are expected to discuss the Scully situation in the coming days.

There are significant rumblings emanating from our club. It will take a minor miracle for Dean Bailey to be reappointed for another term IMO.

You get the distinct feeling that conversations about this matter are already taking place behind the scenes.

Sounds like a typical journo 'beat up' to try and create a story out of nothing to me. Normal sort of destabilisation crap that goes on when things are quiet. Jimmy's smarter than that and wont fall for it. If we improve on last year the coach should be allowed to stay, if we don't we should consider the position. Simple. The off field performance of the club is clearly apparent and our onfield performance will become clearer in a couple of months and completely measurable at the end of the year. So what's the problem? FD's fate is in its own hands, we are 2 1/2 and going ok, younger players improving and I hope it continues. We are in a lot better place than we used to be.

What an absolute nothing article, sounds like a complete storm in a tea cup.

This is also clearly wrong:

"Melbourne's structure has seen a number of new additions in 2011 with the list management role being taken over by Tim Harrington, while Todd Viney joined the club as a development coach with a number of young football administrators taking clear roles in that department."

Tim Harrington has been list manager since 2009 and Viney came to the club in October 2010. Lazy lazy stuff, as I said a real nothing article from Caro.

Does anyone have the link to the article in the Australian this one is referring to? Cant find it on their site.

Apart from that article and the radio discussion that it relates to, could you please provide those of us not in the know with a little information/illumination regarding those other "significant rumblings"?

Yep sack him, 3 games in, 2.5 wins so far, let's just get rid of him already.

Christ.

What rumblings?

Please give some evidence - and not misinterpreted quotes from Bailey.

This article was borne out of fans going on SEN and talking about their 'distinct feelings' minus any hard evidence.

Indeed.

David Schwarz was asked last week on SEN by Mark Robinson "have you heard of any internal rumblings at the club about the coach ?", the answer was "yes". And as we know Schwarz has been back closer to the bosom of the club in recent times.

There's a little too much smoke for me not to think that there's at least a grass fire in the midst. But at the end of the day it's a footy club. You'd expect that there's usually some rumblings from time to time. I see no real story in that. Who knows if it will cascade.

I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with the way the McDonald retirement was handled and/or the inability to re-sign Bruce (regardless of the general consensus that he was past his prime and had obvious flaws in his game) which may have had a lasting impact on the players impression of the football staff/coaches

Who knows if it will cascade.

Depends on expectations

right now, winning by 90 points and being 7th on the ladder isn't good enough for most, so Bailey will inevitably be sacrificed sooner rather than later, to appease the impatients

See what Hannabal said above. That is one example. There's some discontent there within the old boy network, make no mistake about it.

You can draw your own conclusion from it all. Mine is that he will struggle to stay barring a finals push and/or a marked improvement in certain players and our playing style.

It's a bit rich to question my comment when you've suggested Caro has written an article based on the hearsay of some talkback radio callers.

It's very difficult to judge what sort of job Bailey is doing at this stage - we lack real knowledge about football strategy, we lack real inside information and there's not enough water under the bridge to make an assessment on results - ask me in 2013 and I'll have a better idea on that basis but it still won't be conclusive to we win the flag. I plead guilty to generally supporting the club's position - if we can't trust Stynes' and Schwab's judgement we're screwed, they've got the knowledge and information to make a decision.

"Several directors were disappointed that the chief executive had not made contact with Bailey despite his comments and the potential ramifications of the Andrews review into the club that was dissected on Melbourne radio extensively on Tuesday."

Directors heard people on radio talking nonsense.

Hannabal mentioned two people who regularly love mentioning 'some people say' or 'inside knowledge is' to defend their BS.

What if this is just a couple of out of favour players howling at the moon?

Do we take it seriously?

Would someone at 2pm in the afternoon on a low rating sports entertainment radio station with nothing else to talk about take it seriously?

Thanks HT, hadnt delved into that thread.

Ive heard rumblings, they're eminating from my stomach which tells me its time to go get some lunch old boy.

Many opposition clubs can see were a talented evolving club, who was once a (POWERHOUSE), and there trying to unsettle us. They don't want us to achieve our potential at their expense.

They'd like nothing better than to shake our tree and see what drops out, for their scavenging.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
