Lose those rank, pathetic, crappy, red and blue striped socks.

They weren't great, but i sure prefered them a lot more than the white clash jumper.

The socks were a great compromise for an away side.

What's with the AFL's clash uniform policy? The biggest consistency is its inconsistency. Last week we play Brisbane, and out of the three jumpers they have to choose from, they wear the one featuring the most red and blue, including red socks! Yet we play GC today and have to change into the hoops. I don't get it. They make it up as they go, the AFL. I mean surely when GC were designing a new uniform from scratch, they could have come up with a kit that didn't clash with a team that has been in the competition from day one - bizzare.

Should we have gone with the old Red sock with blue top like we wore against the swans for a few years?

Or if the AFL did not like that and all blue sock?

Posted

The AFL wouldn't know. They think we clash with Port (red & blue vs black, teal and white) yet there's no clash between us and Brisbane's 'Fitzroy' jumper. They'd struggle getting the socks sorted out.

From someone who does this for a living, the uniforms look brilliant from top to bottom, striped socks included.

We look sharp and polished. Now if we could only play that way!

Totally agree. I'm more concerned with the footy itself - winning games and winning a flag. But I've got to say the uniform including the socks look great. We do look sharp.

Couldn't agree more Strawbs!

We've worn red socks since time immemorial. Some new , highly subsidised club turns up,copies our socks, then we're expected to change our uniform to fit in with them.Red and yellow hoops would have suited them.

Same with Adelaide , who basically pinched our colours. We got them first! They should have to compromise when there's a clash. They had an infinite variety to choose from when they came into being(yesterday!). If they chose to copy our gear, they should have to change when they play us.

We've got the best colours and the best uniform. No wonder they want to copy us.

The Fold Coast look like McDonald's Large Fries containers....they don't clash with anyone!!!!

We've been wearing the red and blue alternative socks against Sydney away for some time now. Haven't heard a whimper for years !

Our socks clashed with their socks, we were the away side...therefore we change ours, simple logic...it doesn't seem to be a huge issue.

Yes, new teams should be forced to adopt uniforms with as limited a clash as possible but we crossed that bridge a while ago, so let's deal with the matter at hand.

Socks looked ok, good enough.

Not greatly fussed but WHAT CLASH ? The yellow tops on the Suns' socks make them sufficiently different, particularly as most players seem to wear them down these days.

Agree . I hope they stick to that away strip. Makes us look as though we mean business and much more in tune with our traditions. Besides, it is the best looking gear in football.

Isnt the biggest consistency with the afl overall its inconsistency... not just the clash uniform policy. I would send Demetriou, Anderson, everyone on the match review panel, the umpires and Jack Watts to a deserted island

fitzroy fans complained when they play us and essendon that they are 2 games in vic they have to wear clash- when they want to wear old fitzroy red jumper. so afl cave in and let it happen cos clash isnt too bad. sock from lions werent great v us tho

Exactly! Not an issue for me, and I'm sure the stripes would have made it easier for players on both sides.

I have to agree, I thought the sock looked great. I'd take hooped socks over a clash jumper any day.

I just wish our jumpers didn't look pink, quite liked the socks.

It's not Pink...It is BLOOD RED. Yesterdays game showed it up beautifully compared to the fold coast wearing their McDonald's red.

I love the new Jumper. Looks Sharp. B)

They are clash socks apparently. Only worn when we play GC away from home.

DemonsHQ Twitter:

We have had a few questions about yesterday's hooped socks. The only time we have to wear these is for away games against GC.

It's not pink, but it's not Blood red either. It still looks a little pinky/purple red rather than a blood red.

Love the look of the new jumper but its still not the right colour.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
