I hate to play down the excitement but what exactly is everyone so excited about. I've got a feeling he's a one trick pony.

I don't think you have seen him play then.

Played HBF for Casey last week and I don't think he got beaten one on one. He can kick long or short, both with precision. See if you can get hold of the Vic Metro V S.A. U18s when he played.

Good luck Tappy.

No I haven't seen him play. I would expect at VFL level he wouldn't get beaten for strength. Yes he certainly has a great kick. Does he have the nous and other tricks to make it at AFL level. I have my doubts.

What a strange comment.

Defining someone by the one exceptional thing they do?

It doesn't mean they are not, or cannot become, proficient in other areas.

Many say that Jurrah is just a speccie taker...

Hardly fair or true.

And he's 19.

Sums it up really.

What? He hasn't even played a game yet.

I am not a smart man, so I need to clarify what you are saying here. So you haven't seen him play but he is a one trick pony? I say with all due respect, this is one of the most idiotic comments I've ever read. Perhaps wait till he plays a few games huh?

There seems to be alot of excitement about a kid who is big and can kick. We'll see what happens but I don't think he'll make it at AFL level. I've got nothing against Tapscott and I love others enthusiasm I just don't share it.

Roost it he isn't a Brent Moloney, he can short pass the footy low and hard as well and from what I have seen including last week at Casey he has footy smarts, he knows when to kick long or us the short option. The best thing about his kicks like Dean Bailey mentioned he kicks three irons, no up and under kicks low and hard a bit like Daniel Rich. The ball carry's further then you think expect Liam Jurrah to be sitting on a few heads with this guys kicking deep into our forward line.

Your comments are becoming more inane.

How can you think that someone won't make it if you've never seen them play ?

Thanks for that dr. Like Roost, I havn't seen Tappy play, but I'm quite enthused about his prospects based on observations like yours, and recent comments from CC.

They flushed you out though. And they are inane. I've decided to post at the level that know prevails on this once readable site.

Was this another example of posting at said level, Roost It??

Fair point. It does amaze me just how many people now attack you for posting an opinion, albeit a loosely formed one.

You have written a player off and havent seen him play before.

You were rightly challenged about it and were not attacked.

The simple solution is to watch these two videos champ!

<--- Luke as a bottom age player (4 goal game following a 5 goal game as a 17 year old)

<--- Luke as a top age player

I watched the first video, he kicks one from a free kick, one off the ground from a metre out and his opponent falls over gifting him his fourth. Hardly the stuff of a soon to be champion but keep the enthusiasm going it's very sweet.

I have now watched the video's which have not changed my mind and you're right I was being a little dramatic in saying attacked.

9 goals in 2 weeks as an underage player shows that he is far from a one-trick pony.

Watch the second video if you think your opinion is still valid. After that, add a year and a preseason to him and that's what we've got.

Those of us who saw him play VFL last year and went to Visy Park to watch him play have opinions that aren't worthless and hopelessly polemic like yours buddy.

Moloney, Jones, Sylvia, Jetta should be enough hardness in my opinion. Looks a bit slow as a whole but shouldn't be a problem against Sydney.

My query is over the fact that that was pretty much the midfield we had in the preseason and we were starved for inside fifties and tackles. Put in Scully there, and maybe a dash more Trengove and we might get somewhere.

I also reckon that what made us dangerous (when we were dangerous) last year wasn't inside fifties that came about from clearances. It was our rebounding work from a very, very solid defence. No Frawley in there makes a difference, but ideally, the rest of those blokes can get a hold of the pill and drill it to the running mids who can spread. Which is why Tappy was brought in, I think.

The biggest factor in the game? It's at the G. I still think we'll win, though I'm not AS sure without Tom.

Nothing in those goals suggests he's going to make it at AFL level. So you've seen him play VFL and a practice match and now your opinion isn't worthless and polemic. I'll take my hunch over your opinion.

1. My opinion isn't polemic..go and buy a dictionary

2. Nobody in the world will believe your hunch over the opinions of those based on hard facts

a handful of VFL games and a practice match aren't considered hard facts, maybe hard up for facts would be more appropriate, and in my opinion your opinion is controversial

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
