I watched the second half of that game on TV with my three month old son asleep in my arms. I was exploding on the inside with excitement while trying not to throw the baby on the outside. What a game.

I agree, its like winning a final or better when you see something like that happen. I think i nearly cried for the fella's after they came through for that win, still gets the heart pounding just thinking about that game. its the bad times that make the good times so good..............

I remember this game so well- down by 50 at half time, we just started clawing back. Davey kicked a ripper, we got within 19 in the third but the Dockers kicked two including a massive one from pavlich and we were down by 32. But Wonaeamirri came in and...wow. There was no better feeling than when the final siren went at the game. The 19,423 crowd sounded like 50,000. And the top level was closed. And Robbo was thriving, and even Brad Miller was as well

That was the only game I saw that year (as I live in NZ)

Here was my response then.

That comeback still gives me goose bumps.

I just like then, we all still want to know who your grandfather was ;-)

I remember running on to the ground after the game. Turning back to the members stands and watching the whole crowd singing yet another rendition of the grand old flag. It was quite a surreal moment and I don't think ever in my life have I been prouder to be a Melbourne supporter.

I was at this game and remember turning to my mum at half-time to tell her I was leaving. She persuaded me to hang around until 3 quarter-time. Luckily I did. I knew for certain we were going to run over them in the last quarter. Momentum was too strong.

Reminds me also (not that I really needed it) how great a player Pavlich is.

Kicks a goal from 50, puts himself in the middle, wins the clearance and bombs one in from the centre square.

If he was Victorian, he'd be one of the biggest 5-10 players of the game in the last decade (if he's not anyway!).

That was the only game (at the G) I didn't go to that year...massive WTF when the AFL home page loaded.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
