Brett Lovett. Used to love watching him go 'round with that number. One of the best early exponents of skillfully riding a tackle, raising his arms with the ball, then dishing off by hand to advantage.

Brett Lovett was very good in 1980s/90s.

Graeme Watson was a fine all round sportsman that represented Australia in cricket. Had his nose smashed by a Tony Grieg bouncer in the days before helmets.

A couple of years ago there was some discussion about the creation of an Aaron Davey scholarship for a young Indigenous Australian. I don't know if any criteria were established for this or even if it went further than just talk but it seems to me that if we've drafted a young player and given him Whelan's jumper then why not Flash's scholarship? Rookies don't come under the salary cap so that wouldn't be a problem.

That's what I thought too but when I attended the club function earlier this year honouring our indigenous players I was told the scholarship hadn't yet been awarded. There could have been some technical reasons but nobody knew exactly why and I haven't heard anything about it since then.

Over at Carlton, Brock McLean has changed numbers from 7 to 14. His grandfather, Rod McLean, wore number 14 on 128 occasions between 1935 and 1946 including in the 1938 and 1945 Premiership teams, while his uncle, Ricky McLean wore the guernsey number in 19 matches between 1966 and 1971.

IMO, it's a poor move. He's been slow enough all of his career wearing one number on his back, just imagine how slow he's going to be carrying two!!!
