Had a feeling it was Hawthorn, but the Hun reported it was a

"top 5" team chasing him!

Laughable considering where they finished and where they are heading.

Top 5 in their own minds.

As reported on the MFC website... BRUCE NOMINATES FOR THE PSD!!!

BLOODY HECKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

:(

With the change in interchange rules, Bruce could turn out to be a useful sub player in his twilight years. Can play almost any position forward, back, middle...

Just a thought.

Just saw on the Herald Sun website that Brucey has decided to quit, opting to nominate for the national or pre-season drafts. It mentions Hawthorn as a possible new home. See the link to the story below:

As I said on 'ology. We can look forward to him hitting Demons players more regularly in the future.

What a dog of an act, thought more of the money hungry grub and won't miss him haven't rated him since he did his shoulder and lost his balls.

The story also mentioned that it wasn't so much money or length of contract, he was seeking assurances of his place in the team.... business decision in a business world. He'll get more money and a longer contract elsewhere, but the club remains consistent in developing a 'team first' attitude.

Not surprised frankly. This smelt like festering maggot cheese for a while. Perhaps we should look to this as a milestone for the club and a sign of a bright new future.

Another defector. I don't know why we (1) can't entice players to come to us or (2) entice them to stay.

Turn it up, apart from Thompson, we haven't lost much. Jolly yes, but he had valid reason.

Adios trackie dacks

Good on ya Melbourne. Sometimes I dunno what they think.

McDonald and Bruce... captain and vice captain... both gone.

We shall miss him next year, but i am glad the club has stood firm...Gives someone else a chance to step up.

Cameron has been great, but during his career we must remember that we always fell short-so there is room for improvement.

If you wish to wear a Hawthorn jumper, you do so at your own peril. B)

It's time to look at the positives!!!

- Free up a lot of our salary cap!

- We minimise our inefficient disposal.

Question: Does Davey now end up on the veterans list??? :/

Posted

My biggest disappointment is he waited for this long to do it and robbed us of the opportunity of trading him or at least delisting him and giving us another pick in the Nat Draft.

Posted

sucks to see hom leave, but there is plenty of talent to take his spot.

This is true - gives a guy like Blease a chance for a regular spot!!! :)

Yep.

Stinks.

But I'll take the great with the bad.

It's sad to see Bruce go, but I don't think it will have any negative impact on our performance next year and it gives a chance for another young prospect to gain experience each week. Thanks Brucey for over 200 great games. We'll miss you.

Next year will be another development year now, we don't have enough experience or leadership. That's 3 or our 7 leaders gone

BUT... it might be a good move for the long term... means young players will get more games and will need to step up big time

And thus the last vestige of the down again, up again, "I'll try when it suits me" Daniher era is gone. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
