I would love it if Woey was deemed good enough for the job. He has a great reputation in Perth form his last few years coaching in the WAFL, many see him as a future AFL senior coach. Always liked the bloke, would love to see him back amongst success at the Dees.

We will see if he can do it again. Ratten did well when we had a good midfield and now can't win a final with an unprecedented amount of top draft picks.

No point getting upset I suppose although it is disapointing given he was looking at staying on. Gave us good service, time for us to move on.

Just a pie in the sky thought atm but sometimes you have to sew the seeds early. Jimmy should get in the ear of Tadhg Kennelly about coming to MFC after he retires (he turns 30 next year). Could be a good defensive coach for us down the track and would obviously emphasise our profile. Oh the shenanigans...

Any reason why Junior couldn't do it?

Would love for an established, well respected assistant coach to come on board. It will be further evidence that we are going places if someone "wanted"to come to Melbourne. But if not, maybe Junior steps in to some degree.

Pretty disappointing considering our backline has been the strongest part of our game for the past 2-3 years. I don't see how losing him is a positive unless we can gain a coach who has equal or greater ability which I think will be hard to do.

Dissapointing that he only made a commitment to teh Dees a month ago, but you can't expect to hold onto assistant coaches for ever

Second that point- although I don't know if he had a fallout with im Harrington when both were at the kangas.Great technician- great back up to Bails.Would not be surprised if either West or Mahoney go either.If not Junior could be a real good choice- one of the best tacklers the club has ever had.

I would like to get someone who has worked under Roos, Bomber, Craig or Ross Lyon...Maybe Milburn, Kirk or Goodwin.

Do you think Woey would be able to be a specialist Defensive coach though??? Watching Last Saturdays Granny just makes you realize how important Defence is to a team.

Max Hudgton would be worth a run at, I reckon.

He has had a smaller development role at the pies this year.

There are a plethora of assistants that have left Brisbane and Essendon.

We could have a crack at a few of these.

Alan Richardson would be a good get and I can't see him staying at the bombers after he has missed their top job.

Development Manager Luke Beveridge comes to Collingwood having spent the past three seasons as the head coach of St Bedes in the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

He coached St Bedes to three successive premierships moving up a section level each year from C section in 2006 to A grade in section in 2008.

Beveridge enjoyed a solid playing career, in which he appeared in 118 AFL games and kicked 107 goals in 11 seasons for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda.

Beveridge's grandfather, Jack Beveridge, was a champion for the Collingwood Football Club playing 148 games including four premierships during the 'Machine Team' era (1927-1930).

I suspect Viney went back to SA so that Jack would spend his schooling in Adelaide. He made it clear that he went home for "family reasons".

Wellman is a sensational backline coach; we know this because our defense is good. By the same token, Mahoney is a clueless, pathetic hack; this is obvious because our forwardline is struggling. This formula is absolutely fool-proof and works not only with line coaches, but for any assistant coach- the spate of LTI's we had under Babijczuk were a clear indicator that he's a bad fitness coach, the idea that -as fitness coach- he can't be held accountable for fractures is just a copout: he was in charge of fitness, and hobbling around with a broken leg doesn't sound very "fit" to me.

Show me someone who points out other factors when assessing our backlines performance (i.e. the players themselves; the amount of games they've played together, the amount of games they've played period, how good they are at football) and tries to argue that supporters arent in much a position to assess the quality or otherwise of a line coach, and I'll show you someone who not only accepts mediocrity, but embraces it with a lovers zest.

Wellman hasn't been confirmed to leave or be at Essendon....so until so, why are we worrying
