Jesus [censored] Christ.

I just starting leaking from my eyes seeing that excerpt from the documentary to be shown Sunday.

I thought I knew all about his story and it wouldn't affect me too much, but...

...

I don't know what to say.

If you take anything from this, it's that there is no f'ing justice in the world.

This man, who has done so much good, helped thousands of kids and resurrected our footy club, is going to die well before his time, in terrible circumstances.

I hope and pray that he lives long enough to see us win a flag. He deserves that much, surely!

Mother of....

That was so hard to watch. How about Bailey giving it to the players in the huddle, bringing up Jimmy.

Amazingly, that's the thing that really got me.

Not sure what that means.

Will be a very VERY emotional doco on Sunday.

My eyes also began watering during the snippet of Jimmy's doco. He has gone though so much. His family has gone through so much with him. They stick together. They are pulling through.

Stynesy is a serious inspiration and Sam Newman spoke well of him at the end of the interview.

On this note... The Footy Show (and Newman mentioned this) had their most inspirational and worthwhile show tonight out of the 17 years they've been airing. Phenomenal and well done to them.

The snippet of the Bailey speech got me too. Somehow, it surprised me. Not sure why, maybe because Bailey has such a calm, composed persona when addressing the media. Anyway, I loved it!

I understand what you're saying, but I reckon it's fair enough. The on-field side of things is what we relate to the most and the 22 is, in terms of hours spent, the biggest thing we have to relate to the club. (Besides designing clothing).

Also, for me, I know when all the Jimmy stuff was first making news, Bailey and the players were asked often if they mentioned it at team-meetings... They said they might have mentioned it but never dwelled on it. Basically gave the typical line.

Watching Bailey call on that in such a fiery way... we never get to see that. In fact we never get to see what he's like in team-meetings when he's not aware he's being filmed. It couldn't be more separate from his whiteboard wednesday video of the other day. That was a first in so many ways. I've always thought of Neale as the firebrand and one of the great inspirers. Lyon as well has this reputation. I feel like had we seen Dean do this in the past it may not have been so striking.

One other thing. It had an almost Eulogistic element to it (if that's a word). Sounded a lot like "this is it," when obviously it wasn't at the time.

I reckon it would be hard to be a demon fan (or any club's fan, come to that) and NOT shed a tear.

Good call. We finally saw what most of us have known all along. That Sam is a human being, and an intelligent one, who is playing a character, in a show that's prime topic is a GAME. A detail most people forget, most of the time. He was overwhelmed a couple of times there and his true colours showed through...

Certainly the finest moment I've seen on the show. And I've been a fan for years. And like you say DM, we've not been able to say it for a long time, but top marks Footy Show.

The FS was on of the best ever last night. As Garry said it was a very different one. It was nice to see a different Shane Crawford and not the one that mucks around and is silly all the time. And of course Jimmy was just brilliant. As Sam said with your mind and attiude I think you will see a few more christmas's yet. Lets just hope this is the case. Even Sam seemed to get emotional when talking to shane and with Jimmy there.

I reckon that was the brisbane game where Dean Bailey said in the huddle Jim is watching because that was the first game we played after Jim was diagnosed.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
