'The Jizz' is one to watch in 2011. I think we will all be very impressed with him come this time next year.

His work up against the Cat midfield was sensational.

the only thing that worries me about this kid is him getting the second year blues...with a full preseason under his belt and his name already out there...other teams will start to plan for him...but the kid seems to be a ball magnent...so i'm sure this should not be a problem.

Looked great. Shame he hurt his back.

Just needs time.

Kicking looked a little iffy.

But he did score highly on the new draft combine kicking skill test!

He'll be fine. Finds the footy and his exposal by hand is exquisite.

The Gys will be a beauty within 2-3 years, no worries. He will get those Niggling injuries for a while, because he just has to find the ball.

Once his body toughens up he will be part of our elite Midfield...Patience kiddies.

His first game was just sublime.

He did enough in the games he played to show us all why we should be looking out for him next year and beyond. The Kid can play.

He could be a starting 22 player by round 3 next season if fit.

Fairly impressed with The Gys from his 3 games. Would like to see him bulk up a bit and maybe get a few more games into him, but he looks a promising prospect.

Tall midfielder who will eventually add bulk to his frame so he can be a strong clearance midfielder

Positives - racks up the ball

- shown a liking for getting in and under and winning clearances

- good mark for a midfield - obviously size helps here

- very clever handball

Negatives - tackling -if you are going to be an inside midfielder you need to get 5+ tackles a game. Gysberts isn't McKenzie-like but with some added muscle and time at AFL level he should improve.

- kicking. A lot has been said, obviously he doesn't have the most fluent ball drop or action, and I haven't see enough to say if he's a really bad kick. But I think every player besides Davey and Green on our list should be working very hard on their kicking, and Gysberts looks like he could use some help.

I love the way Jordie grimaces ala Chris Judd. It shows he is spent because he's been giving his all.

He'll be all heart for the Dees. Looking forward to seeing his future unfold before our eyes.

Ling maybe described as a mid/tall and has been praised for his work as a inside defensive midfielder, claiming the scalps of numerous opponents.He is also a very long and accurate kick and handballer.It is my belief that Gysberts can also be described in a similar vein. Wikipedia described Jordan as an inside midfielder with good kicking skills Gysberts also represented the Vic Metro side in the 2008 and 2009 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and averaged 23 disposals a game in the TAC Cup in 2009 for the Eastern Ranges.

Gysberts was named best on ground for the AFL/AIS Under 18 team during its 2009 Cape Town match against the South Africa national Australian rules football team.They went onto say...2010: Debut

After playing a series of good performances for Melbourne's VFL affiliate the Casey Scorpions, Gysberts was selected by the Melbourne match committee to debut against the Geelong Football Club in Round 10 of the 2010 AFL Season. In an impressive display, Gysberts amassed 26 disposals for the game, the most of any Melbourne player and was named as one of Melbourne's best players whilst on debut, in a comprehensive victory for Geelong. Gysberts repeated the effort of leading Melbourne's possessions in his second game, with 27 overall and also recording four clearances, for which he was awarded a Rising Star nomination, becoming the third Melbourne player, after Jack Trengove and Tom Scully, to be nominated for the Rising Star in 2010

They compared him to Corey cos if height alone. I hear from some people there's a bit of Hayes about him. Maybe a fraction slower. But I've not seen enough if I'm being perfectly honest.

Not sure any second year blues are to be of concern. 3 games, you could hardly call that a 'season'. Did look very good around the stoppages. Moved in & out of traffic quickly.

I believe he & Blease both have very strong attributes around the stoppages, both have different strengths in the way they go about it but are just as effective as each other.

Hopefully we see the best of both these kids. Moloney, Jones ared great clubman, Blease & Gysberts could be that as well as great, great footballers. Time will tell.

I don't understand why there's this incessant need to compare players anyway. Even if he is a "Joel Corey type", he'll have different strengths and weaknesses anyway, so what's the point?

My interest in Gysberts is whether or not he'll be able to put on much muscle. My first impressions were that he was so good in winning contested ball and had such clean hands in traffic - so if he's able to add some muscle / strength to that wiry frame, he could be anything.

I think at worst he'll be a good player. So far the signs are good.

The Enforcer, my boy- you always try to enforce your views on others.And definately you do not read what posters say- I stated in my first post and furthermore stated it in my secod that I rate them both highly.I stated that I compared them both as similar-both taggers/inside players..How did Gysberts go to against the cats- Ablett as a tagger/inside player.Is he a running mid size tagger- Yes, he is. Furthermore,I rate Ling very highly for his role .I also rate Gysberts for his role. He played this similar role for Eastern Ranges and Vic Metro. Also I wanted to show his achievements, because I believe he will end up as good as Ling- if not better. Bye. Bye for now JCB boy.

Not trying to enforce my views, that's just your poor attempt to make it appear I'm being unreasonable.

Gysberts has played as a tagger in his first few games to learn from the best - do you really see him being a tagger once developed?

I don't believe he played this role much at Eastern and I don't think he will going forward.

And I think it's fair to question your wisdom of comparing the 2 at junior level when one played as a mid and the other at FF.

I watched Collingwood v Geelong last night watching Pendlebury and the similarities to Gysberts. I hope he ends up as good and the signs this year in his brief entry before injury were very positive. He and Blease will be the ones to watch next year I believe.

I think CC has already said he won't put on too much. It shouldn't matter too much. Look at Junior.

Outstanding in all his games though. Might be worth putting some $$ on him for the Rising star.

Gysberts, what a fantastic young player. Looks really sure with his hands and is bursting with confidence and has clean disposal use. All his three matches were good ones, I think he will be hard to keep out of the team next season
