MFC Rumours

Won't start a new thread but was just reading AFL.com and there is an article on Chris Knights of the crows.

Saying that he has also postponed talks, or is just starting to talk now...

If he was keen on moving back to Vic (which is where he is from), I would be keen to get him at the right price.

Gun player when fit and has a brilliant kick. A quality we don't have in abundance down at MFC.

Anyone else ?

There's definitely trouble over at Brisbane.

Problems with the review of the club being conducted by Voss, players disgruntled and wanting to leave and now a big resignation at the top.

The pick up any player thing didnt work ,as it didnt for Carlton, Brennan,Rischetelli are both gone and will be off to Gold Coast, with a few others

Agree. We do have quite a few half forward flankers who can play a bit of midfielder (Sylvia, Green, Dunn, Tapscott), so he wouldn't be filling a 'hole' in our list.

However as already said, you can never have enough quality footballers with elite kicking skills who able able to kick 40 goals in a year. His kicking ability would be particularly attractive to us, so wouldn't be surprised if we made enquiries.

The problem is that to get a player like Knights, who will be chased by all other Victorian clubs, you need to give something quality in return.

I wouldn't be happy to break up our young list unless it was to bring in a player who would fill a genuine hole in the team

Far out, that really set Geelong back didn't it. You just can't talk about Geelong or Port Adelaide these days and not think back to the day Port notched their first win.

Mind you, Fitzroy never recovered from that loss to Freo...

The Hawks in '91 clearly didn't recover from the stigma of losing to Adelaide either!

The word is Knights to Bulldogs, Ryan Griffen to the Crows

Cam Bruce to win Melbourne best and fairest this year. This is more then just a rumor so get your money on it

Oh really well hope you haven't put your house on it according to the coaches association votes up until round 19 in which Bailey votes

as well as the Bluey the tally board is as follows:

Sylvia: 40

Frawley: 36

Moloney: 32

Green: 30

Jamar: 29

Mcdonald: 24

Davey: 14

But wait for it

Bruce: 1 I can't see how he could possibly win unless he poles well when we play crap.

He has a back injury!

Not what i heard. I heard from a family friend of his (who could still be wrong i guess) that he increased weight sessions to bulk up prior to, and after his debut. He did this as he was feeling the mature bodies in the packs a bit more than most due to his skinny frame.

Apparently it is a minor case and with proper management will be no issue in 2011.

What has bulking up, mature bodies and a skinny frame got to do with OP?

They are unrelated. You sure you know what you're talking about?

Osteitis pubis?

Just a few whispers I've heard regarding the 2011 fixture:

-We're a fair chance to be interstate in Round 1. We haven't been interstate in Round 1 since the 90s some time, not sure exactly when the last time was but I know for a fact that from 2000-2010 we've been in Melbourne.

-We're also a fair chance to get a Friday night game against Collingwood early on in the year (like Round 2 or 3 or so)

-We'll be on more Friday nights and more TV in general

'98 I reckon.

About a 5 goal loss to Freo. Looked as though our spoon form would carry over until we rolled the Roos the next round by... 25 I think?

Shame if true about playing Collingwood so early again. Was hoping to not play them until QB, get a good build up after the last 2 games. Having said that, another big game and QB could have 3 massive clashes to lead into it.

Core muscles aren't built by doing weights and "bulking up".

The fact that core strength is a critical factor in OP comes

as no surprise to me. Without being a doctor, it's what I expect.

You can be skinny and still have a strong core.

Frame is irrelevant to core strength.

It has absolutely nothing to do with other players, whether they have mature bodies or they are Cale Morton.

It's not something caused by getting knocked around by stronger opponents.

It's due to the strain that you yourself put on your groins without the necessary strength (not bulk) in key areas.

you should reread the previous posts and link

I thought it was explained adequately

the stronger opponents (he had a light frame) caused him to do bulk-up weights

He didn't strengthen all the required muscles in a balanced way

Hence he had an imbalance placing extra strain on groin

It was only minor and should be easily remedied

Not too hard to follow

Rumour as fact, Cale Morton will cover all limbs in Power Bands giving him an extra 500% stregnth. The club has also recommended that Jack Wats wear one on each ankle to improve his 'balance'.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
