So at a guess, we could potentially have playing, in varying amounts:

Garland

Blease

Watts

Bate

Bruce

Jetta

Gysberts

Fitzpatrick

There's some cause for hope in there.

Yes, and while we wait for the seniors to get their act together, could be a bit of excitement in the two's.

I'd be stoked if all these played this week ~ in varying amounts as you say. Furthermore, if they all came through unscathed and pulled up very well. That would enlighten the club as a whole.

Doubt that Fitzpatrick or Gysberts would be eligible. As far as I'm aware, they haven't missed any NAB Cup/Challenge games due to injury and I think you need to have been severley limited in this regard to be eligible.

Spoke today with a Carlton supporter. At the weekend, Carlton's affiliate, the Bullants had about 13 Carlton listed players compared to Casey which had 6 Demon players against Frankston. We are 7 - 8 players light compared to a club like Carlton.

KC ,PLEASE remember however the M,FC has about 12 on the injury list not capable of playing at this time.

It seems that quite an entourage of Demons will be playing with Casey on Friday night - Bate, Watts on show for Casey

[Apart from Bate and Watts ... ]Promising backman Colin Garland will also continue his return to football with the Casey Scorpions. Last week, Garland played his first game in almost a year, after fully recovering from two stress fractures sustained in Round One of the 2009 season. He only played a half of football last week, but will have more game time on Friday to ease his body back into AFL football.

Other Demons on show on Friday will be last year’s No. 11 draft pick, Jordan Gysberts. Gysberts will relish the opportunity to gain more experience at the senior level against bigger bodies. He will be joined by Jack Fitzpatrick, Rhys Healey, Michael Newton, Daniel Hughes, Tom McNamara and Jake Spencer, who will all be putting their best foot forward to stake claims for eventual senior selection.

Unfortunately, yours truly is working tomorrow night. Anyone going down there ... a report would be most welcome.

So it's Matthew Bate, Colin Garland, Jordan Gysberts, Jack Fitzpatrick, Rhys Healey, Daniel Hughes,  Tom McNamara,  Michael Newton, Jake Spencer and Jack Watts all playing but Sam Blease will have to wait another week.

Most people have Bate pencilled in for the round 1 team, with this his only leadup game before the season, just wondering if Watts clearly outpeforms Bate on the weekend should Bate still get a spot ahead of Watts?

If both perform well, both should play in my opinion

there is no chance Watts will play Rnd 1 after just one practice game with Casey, I just hope no one gets injured

Bate played against West Coast. That will be two lead up games.

At the moment i am going unless my arvo goes pear shaped

Interestingly it would seem that Blease isn't eligible to play this weekend.

According to this AFL.com article players had to be granted special permission to play state-league games this weekend.

Our list of eligible players is - Matthew Bate, Jack Fitzpatrick, Colin Garland, Jordan Gysberts, Tom McNamara, Jack Watts.

I haven't the faintest idea how they go about determining who is eligible but that's the state of play. At least we're better off than our Rnd 1 opponents who can't send out anyone for a competitive game.

it may be that the club didn't apply to have special dispensation for Blease to play, if they don't think he is yet fit enough.

Strange article though. I can't figure out the purpose of it, other than to give an indication of which players are likely to play in the lesser leagues this weekend.

It doesn't allude to there being any reason for an application being rejected.

Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
