Critical NAB Match

This match in Fremantle next Sunday is very important not only to and for the confidence of the players,it is also very important for the drive of maintaining the membership numbers to gain 31,000 being the budgeted amount for 2010.With just on 22,000 now and 18 weeks till the end of June 2010,the club will have to get over 500 week every week to achieve its required number.

Therefore, to put in a weak performance will be very telling for the club overall. With the betting showing Fremantle at long odd on does not go well for a great start. Also our injuries to tall players will be a telling blow for this match.Just hoping we can play well to start our season on a postive momentum.

Your thoughts??

GO DEES!

Yeah I agree. We need to win this one, some NAB Cup success would do me well, and I'll get to see the Dees play if they win

when was the last NAB cup win?? I remember losing a real close one to Geelong at the airport a few years ago, but cannot remember our last win!!!

I think we are due!!!

Don't really care if we win or not. I just want our young ones to get plenty of experience. Hopefully it's a rough and tough game and Freo come in all fires blazing. Nice first-up test.

I think it is hardly critical. I don't think a lot of supporters will sign up just because we beat Freo in a practice match. Our form from rnds 1 to 6 will dictate our membership figures, we won't past rnd 2 in the NAB cup anyway. We do have 1 thing in our favour and that is that Freo won't be taking it seriously cause they would be better off losing so they can stay at home next week. Harvey telling the media that they will only play about a 70% full strength squad indicates that.

Just looking forward to see how the youngsters go.

I see your point but don't think a win is be all and end all, I just want to see the senior players perform, the second string players show something and our future youngsters show they belong at this level if we see q little xfactor and genuine star potential that sells memberships..

our membership figures have slowed down through january/february but we'll see an increase through march up until the family day where we historically sign a few, and usually several k on rnd1, and the club has yet to have an active membership drive either, even if our form is shithouse im still hoping we'll beat last years figures

Although I'd love to see the Dees win the first NAB Cup match, I don't see this being essential to break our membership numbers.

Last year we missed Narrowly to the Hawks first round and we still went ahead to get the best Membership numbers ever.

I would think that early wins in the Home & Away Season would be much more of a motivator for people to go and sign up.

That being said, Go Dees this weekend!

The major difference being we narrowly lost to the previous year's PREMIERS. I repeat A MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

Freo might be battlers but so are we, and it's over there.

Oh, and it's round one of the NAB Cup.

Critical? Nowhere near it IMHO.

As stated, it is my opinion it is very important, if not critical to perform well-to keep up membership numbers IMHO.

This match? Hardly critical.

If we get smashed though, the media vultures and the easily exciteable plebs will start calling for Bailey's head... and then then we'll announce his extension.

There's a lot of hysteria on this site as the season approaches. Is Watts better than NN? Why are all our players always injured? We are doomed if we get flogged by Freo in the first NAB cup game.

People, we have recruited a very young, skilled and talented bunch of kids. There's also quite a few who could develop into seriously good captains down the track. Is Watts better than NN? Only time will tell, FFS you can't seriously sit here and tell me than we made a mistake when we haven't even seen Watts string a dozen games together. The FD has got Rivers, Sylvia and Moloney over cronic OP. Grimes seems over serious back problems which involved his running style, which was altered. Garland appears to be doing very well. So what if Freo beat us, it means nothing, absolutely nothing in the context of us winning a Premiership in 3 to 6 years time. Personally I think some of us need to just show some judgement and some patience.

I'd doubt it, it is on their home turf and it's a practice match. All the media will write is what some are writing already and that is that we will have a long year.

We need to win - and WIN we will. Membership will be up for the next few weeks and after Jurrah stars and kicks 6 -we will make him the star of our membership drive. We may even get Rudeboy to join,if Liam starts to star.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
