Training Today 16/2

Hi All,

Went out and had a look at training this afternoon at Casey. All told including the warm up went 1 hour. I believe this morning was a much bigger session

Summary

Rehab Group - Bruce (looked quite proppy), Blease, Gawn, Bate, Dunn - Rehab group did a lot of running

Stationary skills group - Tapscott - just very basic tennis ball skills - overheard it maybe a hip keeping from training, hasn't trained for approx 2 - 3 weeks

5 min cameo stationary skills group - Watts

I have seen half a dozen pre season training sessions each year for the last 2 or 3 and the best thing about the rehab group at the moment is that all are on the way back and don't look too far away. Generally we still have people in moonboots or crutches this time of year.

As I said very short session with mainly handball drills and then a match simulation exercise (whites vs blues) which was geared around the white team moving the ball from defence to the forward line in waves.

I don"t have any fact but you could sense that maybe the guys in white were the team for the weekend. I will do my best to remember who was in it.

Whites - Jones, Green, Mc Donald, Miller, Bennell, Jetta, Morton, Jurrah, Davey, Frawley, Warnock, Rivers, Maric, Strauss, Spencer, Jamar, Moloney, MacDonald, Grimes, Sylvia

Highlights of the session - 1. - Even though he was in the rehab group Blease looked like he is really coming along. That was about the 6th session I have seen and he did more then ever before. His sprinting looked really good and he did do some kicking drills as well which I hadn't seen before.

BUT THE NUMBER ONE HIGHLIGHT WAS GARLAND DOING THE WHOLE SESSION WITH THE MAIN GROUP. WOO - HOO

Short and sharp session but if you have any questions fire away and I will do my best to answer them

who's this Garland bloke?

apparantly he is this guy we drafted that can play either end of the ground in key positions, in defence on bigs or smalls, and up forward can take a nice mark and an ok shot at goal.

i hope this helps :)

Great report demonwithin. Thanks.

Did Davey appear unhampered ? Did he train freely ? (ie. no concerns from the weekend).

I like your view on the rehab group and quite pleased with Blease's report.

I reckon he is an interesting one HT. He was wearing the bike shorts which he has done since a scare a couple of weeks ago. He only played a half on Saturday

My gut feel is he has a little niggle and that has reduced his intensity at training. I have no doubt he was flying before Xmas.

I personally wouldn't play him Sunday.

Good to read that he trained though. A trip to Perth.....maybe a niggle...maybe tightness...I'd agree with you, wouldn't risk him if it is indeed a niggle. Thanks again.

I read somewhere, (think it was 'ology a few days ago) that Tapscott had a crack in his hip bone or cartilage..

Havent heard anything since tho.. only about his family situation.

Has anyone thats been to training recently seen him run? Do normal sprints and endurance etc..

Or has it just been tennis-ball stuff the whole time?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
