Lack of pace isn't too much of a concern if other areas of your game make up for it (guys like Greg Williams, Scott West, Sam Mitchell, Cameron Ling and Jobe Watson are testament to this). Unfortunately Brock (unfortunate for him anyway) is probably borderline on making up for it.

I think you'll find acceleration is his problem.

Not the smartest thing to say when he has just beaten Judd in a 3 km time trial.

Thats fine as long as he has to run 3k to win the footy

hahaha more opinions and propaganda presented as fact...

Edit: You realise that I could go to the Herald Sun, tell them Collingwood promised to draft me, but didn't because I told them I wanted to play for MFC and they could print it... but it doesn't mean any of it is true.

Merely that it is the story I wanted to put out there for appearances.

How do you know i didnt get this straight from the horses mouth....

Even still, people tell lies to their best friends every single day, in the name of saving face...

Unfortunately, I doubt we will ever truly know.

Its not an absolute measure, but it does indicate he can keep pace with Chris Judd, even if it is over a long distance.

You may be aware that AFL players cover distances in excess of 3km over the course of a match..?

Fair point. and at first I didn’t believe it, he was my favourite player. But I know the truth.

That's just it. It depends on who you choose to believe.

I believe no one!

If its any consolation, you all look like hobos fighting over a wheel of imaginary cheese...

Can't spell. Edited.

Your some type of control freak, trying to rap the kiddies over the knuckles, unbelievable. How old are you?

The players you quote were either elite or close to elite in other parts of their games. Lack of pace is a crucial flaw in your game and typically such players you mentioned (Wartson, Ling, West and Mitchell) were very good players but were aided by having skilled quicker players around them. Brock has none of the skills at the level that the others have. And when you play Jones and Valenti in the same side as well, the midfield looked like molasses.

I agree with Axis of Bob's assessment of Brock. I think the move would be good for both parties.

2. Was asked to take a pay cut, and wasn’t happy considering he had inject x about of money into the club

Fact eh? Hmmmm.

That was the point I was making Rhino - he just doesn't seem up to it football wise. Not at a level that covers his pace concerns anyway.

Covering 3km isn't going to help if the bloke you're playing on is consistently quicker over 20metres.

Those time trials are a waste of time imo. If he'd been on par with Judd over repeat 20metre sprints then I might be impressed

They do it in bursts not who is the fastest over a full 3 k's. Jog jog jog, sprint sprint sprint, jog, sprint sprint, jog jog... I'd bet a little bit that most of the Carlton list would be El Broko in a 3 k fartlek "course".

Posted

uhh.... yeah, I get it. It not an adequate simulation of the running required in a game...

but still, to not only keep pace with an athlete like Chris Judd, but to beat him, over 3km, shows a certain ability.

Its only one of many indicators, and I agree the fartlek is much more apt, but this one result shows he is not exactly the slowest guy going around in the AFL.

I read this on a number of occasions. Does anyone else find it laughable?

"Because I donated I want extra in my pay packet". If he really thought this he must be a dumb as dishwater.

he felt that he shouldnt be given a pay cut because of what he has put in to the club. Makes sence. well like i said, i heard it from the horses mouth

Not if he donated $10K and they wanted to cut his pay by $50K.

A little older than Colin Sylvia.

I'm trying to recall what posts I've read from you. You're an excitable fella aren't you?

I really don't think me being patronising during this ridiculous discussion during the 'nutty' off-season is 'unbelievable.'

But you can accept this thread as epitomising great thought if you want to.

I'm not going to control what you think...

It would be ludicrous to compare McLean with six year's experience to Gysberts who has yet to play a game.

Despite that the Gysberts I saw yesterday is every chance of making a good AFL player.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
