All I can think of this time of year, is that do we take into consideration the homesick factor and do we worry about taking guns from interstate? I just hope to God that in a couple of years, if we are still hovering around the bottom half, that he doesn't want to go back!

Anyone else thought about this?

Jack Trengove's hometown is as close to Melbourne as it is to Adelaide.

He just plays in the SANFL due to it being his state's competition.

I don't think we'll have to worry about too much.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware of that - makes me feel a little better! Thanks MR

Stop worrying about it and start getting excited about how good he is going to be!

The Dees will not have a premiership window open until these kids start hitting their straps. I think JT will stick with the team that drafts him regardless of where it is if a decade of finals is upon him early in his career.

Of course he will want to go home. Wouldn't you want to show your family and friends your Brownlow, Norm Smith and Premiership medallions?

Posted
The bloke may want to go home, but after back-to-back-to-back Premierships who could blame him for wanting another challenge :P

No go home factor with him. Gibbs had a massive go home factor and the Carltonscum have managed to keep him. Morabito is one of the only top prospects with a go home factor.

I'm still worried about Todd Viney wanting to leave...

If I see another thread devoted to this, I'm going to effing leave.

Can we please trust ourselves to keep players at the club?

Do we always have to show our pathetic MFC neurosis on every issue?

I was being facetious personally.

I think anyone overly concerned about the 'go home factor' is a moron and probably still worries about the Y2K bug.

THIS ENORMOUS WOMAN WILL DEVOUR US ALL!

and rpfc, to that I respond with something similar you said to me. It's after the trade period so we won't get anything for you, and I just can't see you walking into the ND and risk ending up anywhere. Which leaves retirement or the PSD.

You're too young for retirement and we'll just pick you up again with the first pick in the Pre season draft.

How about we just get some effing good players at our club.

You're right, I can't leave. I don't want to risk ending up at Dockerland or Nick's by going into the ND.

But let's try to better ourselves Landers...

Stand tall.

Chest out.

We are Melbourne supporters.

We are only pathetic if we choose to be.

Did John Platten , Craig Bradley , Steve Kernahan , Malcolm Blight ? (to name just a few)

I would be more concerned about the talk of free agency after X ammount of games etc

Treat the guy right and he is a Demon for Life

Silly topic, he come or go on his own. We have only had a couple leave us, most notably Scott Thompson. But think we got Jeff White going the other way!

We'll sign him for 2 and 1 year in extend it as we have done with other young players. I assume he's already looked at our young list and knows once they all hit their straps he'll be in a very successful team ina couple of years. Mates that are successful together stick together.

Just find him a nice Melbournian lady to shack up with. No dramas.

It'd be a lot easier talking your missus into moving back home to Melbourne with you, than it would be to Adelaide.

And considering its hardly his home makes it a moot point.

With the culture Bailey and the football dept are trying to foster amongst the young players it would be even harder to leave.

Although the players are encouraged to bond at all clubs, I'm sure MFC has made it a priority and put more effort into this particular area than maybe some other clubs.

The frequency with which this is brought up would lead you to assume so anyway.

The thing is, the kid has had plenty of time to think about the move to Melbourne and to talk about it all with his parents. Nobody's parents (well, some people's parents do but that's not the point) are going to put a bad spin on what their kid is going to be doing for the next two years minimum (by contract).

So they'll be sitting around the dinner table having a chat about what a great team Melbourne is going to be, googling the club, looking at Jack Grimes' profile, having a little chuckle about how he'll get to meet Ron Barassi at club functions, which will lead them into thinking about Melbourne's history and how they were the ultimate football superpower back in the day, and how they are on a clear mission to bring that back and will be the top 'traditional' team in place to fight off the Gold Coast and West Sydney upstarts.

By the time it even gets to the draft, Jack Trengove and his family will be sending thank you cards to Jordan McMahon ;)

He'll stay. He loves his sport. He'll fit right in here in Melbourne. He will love the MCG. He'll love the Mfc whilst being in the sporting mecca of the world. Next thread.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
