Garland back in moonboot?

As the heading suggests, is Garland back in a moonboot after finding a new stress fracture on his foot?

I heard this, but am not sure whether to believe it or not..

Not trying to scare anyone, merely asking!

I spoke with a relative of his last Tuesday (who is a client of mine). At that point Garland was going great guns, pretty much 100% and his relative said how much mussel he had put on and how conservative he was being handled and that he was looking to a massive 2010. As of such I think (pray) this is bs.

I am due to catch up with his relative during this week and will ask the question if this dirty rumour has not been proven or disproven by then.

I'll cry if it's true. If he's got serious foot problems he might never recover from them (did he injure the same bone as Egan? The navicular?).

It was a stress fracture in the navicular, but it was much less severe than Egan's injury.

Even if he IS in a moonboot, its probably just precautionary cos of a little flare up.

I'll wait to hear it in the papers...

Pity we could not get an update via our MFC website.

If True hopefully he had the screws removed recently and this is to cater for that.

I saw him a couple of weeks ago at our local shopping centre and he had no limp and no moonboot, hope nothing has changed.

Disaster!!!!!

Garlands career must now be in the balance. Could well be all over.

Hi Hutchy, good to see you on the boards. Or is it Maher?

Calm down. Even if it has flared up, and he misses this season, his career is healthy. And even if we decided to trade him, he'd find himself at another club VERY quickly.

Next season isn't going to be a flag season. It hurts the club in terms of him missing important development years, and it is a sad setback... but he's nowhere near curtains yet.

The MFC website has stated the following:

Dees cautious on Garland injury

Colin Garland

The Melbourne Football Club will take a cautious approach with defender Colin Garland, after scans confirmed bone stress in the talus bone of his right ankle.

Garland will wear a protective boot over the next three weeks to rehabilitate the injury.

Garland spent the majority of the 2009 season successfully recovering from a stress fracture in his right navicular bone. This, however, is an unrelated stress injury which the Club will continue to monitor on an ongoing basis.

General Manager of Football, Chris Connolly, said, “The injury has been detected early, and we are going to take a very cautious approach in dealing with it. We are confident that he will recover to be able to perform a critical mass of pre-season training in preparation for the 2010 season.”

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
