People are getting a little bit too stupid here. If you honestly think that bringing Sylvia back will mean we win, have a look at what happened yesterday. Richmond, with not much to play for, beat Essendon, with everything to play for.

Bringing Sylvia back won't matter, provided we leave Miller, Newton and Johnson in the forward line.

Given we had 8 changes last week out of nowhere, there is every chance there will be more unexpected changes this week. The "must plays" are Jordie, Cheney, Newton, Bennell, Jetta, and Valenti unless we need to give them more games with Casey to qualify for the VFL finals.

Hughes and perhaps even Spencer and Buckley would be useful inclusions to continue giving young players experience.

It means MFC are better with Sylvia in than without him. He is a player who can seriously impact a game in a short space of time. We have few of those at the moment and none in the midfield.

He was the one who turned the game against the Tigers last time.

Hello team tank.

I must be mad but some of your ins are good, Hughes for a cool 6 and a win against richmond. The mighty Melbourne wins another game, tell me oh tankers what will it be like barracking for richmond? See I am only an old bastard who believes in barracking for his footy team. If you want us to lose you want richmond to win, yes, so you are barracking for richmond. I prefer to barrack for my team.

However you spin it out and any phrases you come up with, you are barracking for richmond, and you call yourselves MFC supporters, when do you start? At what point do you care enough to barrack for the blokes putting their bodies on the line, but I suppose its easier barracking for the opposition.

Are you going to carry little tiger dolls on sunday?

And finally a point i suggested in a previous thread, Rich was picked at what? Certainly not 1, 2 or 3, in my opinion we need to do the best with the picks we have on the day. Things also happen further down the list.

The point being that had we won one less game in 07 we may well have picked Rich with our PP, thus he'd be playing for us. Something that would be giving us alot more satisfaction than beating the Bulldogs or Carlton in 07 did. By the way it's not the supporters, we all want Melbourne to "win", but the AFL have installed a system whereby by only winning 4 games we also "win". It's just our definition of "winning" that is different. In 6 weeks we can all look forward to a few seasons without worrying about this.

You're right - Daniel Rich is good...

I'll take two, thanks.

"So MR.rpfc if we lose to the Tigers and NM, we get to have two Daniel Rich type midfielders instead of one?"

That's right, Timmy.

"Well, jeez, Mr.rpfc, I think we should play as many youngsters as we can and give ourselves the best chance of making that happen and winning a premiership."

So do I, Timmy.

"Besides, if we weren't tanking I wouldn't be able to see Petterd play in the middle, or Morton play on Goodes, or McKenzie get a game, or see whether Batram, Miller, Newton, Dunn, Valenti, Cheney, or PJ are up to it."

That's an effing good point, Timmy.

why drop Miller... you'll need him to kick points !!!!!

Sylvia will come back in....

I want to see Rohan Bail, Simon Buckley and Danny Hughes get a run.

Especially Hughes. Think he would be quite good in the seniors.

If anyone is injured they should be rested.... any niggles at all.

Perhaps Bruce and Davey could have a bad stitch!!

Sylvia needs to be rushed back in so he can have 'general soreness' for the Fremantle Game

I was at the game on Sunday and it look like Stef had a corked thigh, he later went back on and played out the game. I don't think it's anything serious.

True it is still puzzling how Rich was not picked up earlier BUT clearly MFC likely to do better with 2 picks in first 10 than only 1???? We do get 2 of best new players. <_<

Are you accusing Miller, again, of missing goals on purpose?

You claim to be a True Believer, but you accuse a member of the leadership group of going out on the field and deliberately not giving 100%?

Player's don't tank.

Read through the threads and understand how we are tanking or 'list managing' and you will feel alot better about life.

Player's don't tank.

I think he's more just having a dig at Miller's ability in front of goal. Miller doesn't need to tank to miss goals... he just will.

I hear what your aspousing ther 52K2..however the reasonRichfell downteh list is many players were chosen to fill a niche need...i.e Watts at FF NikNat Follower and so it went on.

On this basis we need midfielders.. they will go early..we need picks 1 and 2..simple as that

Don't know about everyone else, but I've completely lost interest in the ins and outs.

I haven't given a stuff about them ALL year, truth be told.

Last week, I'll admit, I was pleasantly surprised. But other than that, as long as there's some kids with a smattering of older guys so that they don't get COMPLETELY disheartened, then we've done what we came to do in 2009. So far DB hasn't let us down.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
