Let's have a bit of respect, people!

The fact that our resident tipster has enough faith in the team to select it to win by 27 points shows we couldn't possibly be tanking!

reported on the footy show... GREEN OUT FOR SEASON :(

Good result really, in our top 3 most valuable players, early end to season is good to rest up for next year when we begin our charge up the ladder!!

Hopefully Brock is put on ice too

Good result? You think that Green having a season ending injury is a good result? FFS! Tanking is one thing but to say that is a "good result" is disgusting.

I don't think the young fella meant it like that. Greeny's been playing with broken bones for weeks, with pain, & probably worsening his condition, could possibly keep playing risking further damage, but WHY.

His 2010 season looks to have started. Doing some clean up work with the surgeon early to aid an early recovery before the preseason. Good result, for him with his condition.

No doubt there will be others? We Know Brock has been playing all year, restricted by injury & a poor preseason...

It is sad that Brad may miss the rest of the season because in just 2 games he was ready to bring up his 200th game. This milestone was due against Richmond at the G on Sunday week. It may be a blessing in disguise however because Brad is so well liked and respected the boys would have lifted and beaten the Tiges for sure. Without this incentive it becomes more of a 50/50 chance of victory. Let's hope that he can play his 200th in the last round against the Saints and we can push them all the way and lose by a point! That in itself would seem like a victory to round off the season.

I reckon that team will win. I particularly like the forward line though I am a little doubtful how many times the ball will actually get into our forward line!

Oh, I get it now...

You think we're decent?! That Miller and Newton can spearhead a functioning forward line?! That a team with 14 players 22 or younger can beat middling sides?!

That's cute.

This will be our 50th loss since the start of 2007.

Happy Anniversary everyone!

Now let's get real, get to 54 against the Saints and let's get fracking good!

I understand all that but maybe a "Damn, poor Brad, but...." might have been a better way to put it. It sounded like a serious injury to one of the better players we've had in the last ten years was a good thing. List management or tanking might be unpalatable, while understandable, to people of my ilk but celebrating an injury to s Demon is beyond the pale.

Last 3 rounds since he came back haven't been that flash (for tanking).

2 W 1 L

the wins didnt come off his boot though

Disappointing for Daniel Hughes to have Rohan Bail make the squad for a possible debut ahead of him. From what i've seen, Bail's been highly underwhelming in the VFL so far... surely form would have to have some say in whether a players gets included in the squad or not? Hughes deserves his chance way more than Bail, IMHO.

I think we're finally seeing first signs of real, ruthless "team management" aka tanking.

Final changes for mine would be:

OUTS: McLean (Knee), Jamar (Quad), Green (Scaphoid), Grimes (Back), Robertson

INS: Valenti, Johnson, Miller, Cheney, Newton

With McKenzie, Bail and Whelan missing out on the final spots.

i think it may have something to do with if he plays a senior game this year he can't be placed on the mature age rookie list next year. If he can finally have a full preseason under his belt he would be much better than just playin a few useless games when we dont need to win!!!

I thinkk mckenzie will play as he was promoted, i also hear bail will play..

I dont think miller and newton would both play

The way our players are dropping, by the Fremantle game we will be lucky to have 22 fit players. We are not tanking, we have lost 4 players to injury plus a forward that straight after last weeks game the coach confirmed he didn't adhere to team rules(for the thrid time this year). We bring in the best available and don't forget our VFL team has been playing very well and the players named have all featured in best players over the past 3 weeks.

It's a shame this game isn't at the MCG I would love to see these guys play.

Here's a pic of it.

http://classes.kumc.edu/sah/resources/hand...es/scaphoid.gif

I re broke mine 4 weeks after getting it out of plaster and had surgery on it as the bone never healed properly and the bone was dying, I had 8 months off work (I was a tradesman) as it would not heal.

Can be a really bad break to have.

that'd be a bugger of a thing to have :( hard to hold tools with that !!

Wish all injured a speedy recovery in time for pre-season

I thought tanking didnt exist demitriou? Something has to be done about this. Such a charade. I hate being a melbourne supporter right now. I can take losing, but going out to lose and everyone on here cheering it on? This is just not on.

Winning stopped being the priority for this footy club around June 2007.

It resumes March 2010.

We're tanking, but the tools of tanking have been used by Bailey since he came at the start of 08 - giving blokes a game when they are not ready (Weetra, Garland, Frawley, Watts, Meesen, and Spencer), sending players of for surgery, playing kids ahead of more seasoned professionals (Grimes (Whelan), Cheney and Bennell (Wheatley), Wonaeamirri (Yze) and, recently, Miller has been replaced by Jurrah), and playing blokes out of position (Bate @ FF, Martin in the ruck, Jones as tagger, Morton @ HBF, and Petterd @ FP).

We're just cheering on Bailey finishing the job.

That's where Bailey would call it "development" and others would call it "tanking". Nothing's really changed.

The past 2 years haven't been about trying to win games of footy to make the finals. In that respect there will be no discernible change in direction till next year.

Correct.

Bailey is just continuing a course, started by ND (Newton), continued (to an extent) by Riley, and ramped up considerably when DB came to the club.

Why change course with 6 games to go?

That's a rhetorical question, so no-one needs to answer...

I think the wrong message was given to Riley when he took over from ND. Hence the 5 wins in 2007.

I agree with your development programme that has been certainly in full swing since late 2007. Indeed why change?

Exactly, he's been doing it since Weetra was in the side.

am so disappointed in the team selectors, that I have emailed the club and said as much. I HOPE WE WIN

The injuries are considered legitimate. Why would you be angry? Wouldn't have anything to do with our 3-13 record would it? - On the back of last years 3-19 finish!

Heavens above.
