Does anyone really believe we shouldn't "list manage/tank"

Yeah how good is it seeing him start to shove around the experienced opposition??!!! Awesome.

Just imagine a Picket size body on him and lookout!!!!!

This kid has some aggro.

On a couple pf occasions vs Geelong and in previous weeks he had no qualms about smashing opposition players as they disposed of the ball, and put a few of them flat on their backs.

The question I now pose is this - what CAN'T he do on the footy field?

The total package if I have ever seen it.

Imagine a Picket like body on him and look out!! Crunch goes the defender!

IT'S NOT CHANGING ALLEGIANCES.

IT'S WAKING UP AND SMELLING WHAT THE WIZARD IS COOKING!

:D Call of the day!

I never thought the day would come, but I definitely have 2 teams to follow now. However, my admiration for Liam is such that I would love nothing more than for him to kick the winning goal against the Pies next year!

RudeBoy...Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club. If you want L.J to do that you cannot Barrack for that Evil organization anymore. You have Changed. THE BAND!

Would you like to see that on Grand Final day RudeBoy??

you must be kidding..Jurrah is going to be as good if not better than Franklin, more strings to his bow. Jurrah isnt the Nick type..Watts might be.

Cheers mate.

Those three did burst onto the scene and show things that backs up your point. Jurrah has done nothing in his first few games when compared to them.

He's 20.

How were the others going in the 4th game? Winning matches with 4 goals, 4 assists, and 4 contested marks?

They weren't?

Oh, I feel sorry for those guys - I guess they won't amount to much.

And of course he is no Riewoldt - Jack Watts is our Riewoldt...

Some people...

It's early days (game 5 to be precise) yet, and it's perfectly possible that Liam will not prove to be as good as those champions you mentioned. However, it's worth considering that it was only last year that Liam first saw the inside of a gym, that up until then he had never lifted a set of weights and had not really ever done any serious training. That suggests to me that there is incredible scope for improvement, as all we are seeing at present is raw talent. Whereas, Reiwoldt, Franklin and Brown, arrived at the AFL after several years of training in development squads, at the AIS academy etc. Even then, my recollection is that it took them a year or two to begin having a big impact at AFL level. Liam has had a big impact from his first touch. Ultimately, comparisons with other players are pointless anyway. Instead, you should all be simply enjoying watching Liam's development as a Demons player, in full knowledge that his best is yet to come. As i've said previously, he still has not had a pre-season yet, and when he's got a bigger engine plus an extra 5 ks of muscle, I reckon he'll be unstoppable. You all know i'm completely biased when it comes to our Warlpiri Warrior, so I probably shouldn't even post anything, but I couldn't help myself.

No he looks alot better than they did at this stage of his development. Liam has that something special that draws people through the gates and makes those around him lift. A few weeks back when Davey handballed to Bennel who kicked it to Jurrah I almost wept at the sheer beauty of what I had just witnessed, when Liam then kicked the goal I thought of perfection and had I just seen it.

I don't think we are kidding ourselves when it comes to Jurrah, I think he actually is that good.

Rudeboy, thankyou for your totally biased appreciation of Liam :D As you say, we havent seen much yet at all and the mind boggles as to what may come. Its not often a Liam comes along. Is there a certain hunger for something to spark this team ? for sure But that doesnt cloud the judgements of manyof us to whatis plainly manifest. This guy has it in trumps. Roll on 2010 !!

LIAM Jurrah will be like Liam Jurrah. No one else. You cannot compare the deft touch, his marking and his ACCURACY with kicking with the likes of Riewoldt, Brown, etc. After 4 games, I'm tipping those players would actually look forward to watching Liam play footy themselves.

In years to come other young up and comers will be compared to Jurrah.

TBH they might not come in cooee of him.

Well put as usual.

The very worst case from Jurrah (besides injuries etc) is that how he is now is as good as he gets -- even if that's the case, he's proven he's a best 22 player at this very early stage of his career. That's the worst case. The best case is that the sky is the limit.

Honestly, I can't see how anyone who claims to be a Melbourne supporter can't be extremely excited by this guy.

Agree. Those that aren't excited - well, they probably haven't even seen him.

No he's not , he won't get as big as either of them just to start with, BUT AFTER WATCHING FOOTY FOR 50 YEARS IF HE DOESN'T TURN OUT TO BE VERY SPECIAL I'LL RUN NAKED AROUND THE G (and that will be a terrible sight)

Sounds like I'd be as wrinkly as you. I'll run alongside you.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
