  1. i think we have been a successful side since 87.no flags granted but i believed there was a culture,a win at all costs culture.we have never had an out and out champion, injuries have robbed us of that, but plenty of finals and some good tilts.i was comparing us to richmond who have been starved and now see mirages, hope we dont panic and do the same
  2. we are on different pages, always will be.ignorance is not just bliss it is a necessity at melbourne.
  3. i had to look up trolling .i am not doing that
  4. i said he was a precocious talent -that acknowledges his exceptional development.i just think we are wrong to pump a guy up who still needs to be aided at press conferences. our football department call him the Cougar etc when they should be keeping the lid on.Blind freddy can see he can play i am sure however geelong or hawthorn would have deflected media attention away from him, especially with his background.he is not as far forward as the three i mentioned at similar ages- NOT games. we have had our share of gun indigenous boys we could not control Farmer,Charles etc.The fact that most of you believe he may equal Riewoldt,Franklin or Brown reaffirms my point, they are elite, freaks of endurance and strength .what if he does not reach there levels or gets nowhere near them?,there will be no shame in that .do you all realise the exceptional players they are.Flash counts for little, there is so much work for him to do.look at brennan His mentor is davey ,people will have a go at me but his career has plateaued, depite stats.he was a menace when he started,he no longer is. we have not been down that long, not like Richmond, not like Chris Connolly.lets not create a culture of desperate hope .we need to reign ourselves in
  5. how bad are we going,he is a great story and precocious talent but he is no franklin, brown or riewoldt .we are kidding ourselves
  6. i have tried to read all the replies to this and thus far have not seen one jimmy stynes.a revolutionary tall ruck rover who was the bolster we needed in an other wise generic mid field.he may have jumped at the centre bounces but he was as much a mid fielder as glenn lovett and todd viney.
  7. im with most.Tingay was the package, courage, brilliant by hand and foot, could carry the ball and kick it 50 and magnificent overhead.viney was a bull,a Sammy Mitchell clearance king. ifs suck but Shwartz was closing on carey when his knee went.neitz was a gun centre half back ,better than jakovich.with lyon, schwartz and Tingay able to garner a little more luck we would have a flag.im glad people remember the absolute package Tingay was.
  8. melbournes future is not secure,he is right, none of us know what the number one draft pick is worth .if it turns out to be a judd, ablett, riewoldt or franklin,we miss it and eventually merge or move he may well be right. there are a lot of borderline melbourne supporters around,we can call them fair weather but we need them .it is fact . missing a genuine champ would curb our success, keeping us down,we cannot afford to wallow .we need success. the reason scribes and experts believe we need the picks is by no means solely predicated on the the strength of our list west coast will survive,so will richmond.we barely survived with frequent visits to the finals. We cannot afford to miss out, melodramatic yes ,little success will mean continued relegation to sundays where hardly a seat in the outer is occupied.
  9. give him a break its just a passionate opinion, football is full of them.tell us why it is nonsense.i dont agree with him,but i believe you make a hell of a lot less sense than he does.
  10. I still struggle with it but fortunately I have developed some sort of resistance to the urge. An example was the other week. I still take an interest in the odds for the footy (I know I shouldn't it but I like numbers) and I saw the Dees were opening at about $2.16 I think, against the Eagles. It looked good to me. So I think 'ok, I'll throw $20 on it, nah make it $50'. Before I know it I'm thinking $500. yeah that was an awesome bet,i doubled my pay.good luck mate
  11. A good job at Casey won't equal a good job at Kardinia.
  12. who gives a @#$% how you rate him as a footballer, that last paragraph made my skin crawl.only a person with complete delusions of grandiosity would use a pimple on the worlds ass forum to become a pretend investigative journo. "this is by no means an attack on the man".you [censored],that is the type of talk that has the once great gary lyon acting like a parasite.be honest to yourself about what you are doing, sticking your big nob nose up the crack of a man who has done nothing to you. "i actually rate him as a footballer"aghhhhhhhhhhhhh [censored].
  13. Morton will perhaps be an insight to what type of a coach Bailey is.Blind Freddy can see he is not just timid but scared.Putting him down to a lower level of Football may ruin him. They are men there and to me Morton would be a worry at Amateur level(courage wise). His skill and decision making with the ball is unquestioned, amazing considering his obvious deficiency. To put him into the 2's will 1.he will continue with bad habits as he continues to conquer with a football brain(though in a weaker comp) 2.he gets dropped, the reason obvious to every one in and outside of melbourne, his confidence drops and we start to chip away at his strengths. Courage is innate as a kicking style, though this does not mean it cannot be tuned. If i was Bailey i would leave him int the ones, let him play spare man, talk to him and tell him they will work on it off season. At the moment getting cale morton tougher will be,dont you worry ,one of baileys main objectives. With some weights and some punishment at the hands of teammates in intra matches Mr Bean might get to be a little closer to Brendan Goddard.
