Mark Jamar

Another great game by the big fella yesterday. 19 disposals, 10 contested, and 3 clearances. Both Lade and Brogan were scared of body contact at the centre bounces after half time and I particularly enjoyed the knee to Brogans rib cage. I love the way he lauches himself into the other ruckmen at the centre bounces and then follows up crashing bodies at ground level and clearing space.

There's still plenty of room for improvement but I'd put all 4 of his games this year in his top 10 best career games. There's no doubt he's heading in the right direction, or that he belongs in the AFL. Good work Mark and good luck, we need you on the park

I haven't had a lot of nice things to say about him, but credit where credit's due, that's the best game I've seen from him by a fairly long stretch. Some will say he didn't have much to play against, Brogan and a ninety-year-old are hardly winning AA honours... But still, out of the four big guys that turned up yesterday, it's clear which one you'd want as your starting ruckman.

Well done Mark.

I've been telling people for a long time abotu his potential, always being laughed at, I'm glad its starting to pay off now.

His 1%ers are right up there with anyone at our club, always puts his body on the line, and I beleive he is setting a great example with his contested possesions, shepards, tackles etc.

THE RUSSIAN!

Has always been underrated as a ruckman because of the doughnuts issue, but he was always a great tap ruckman.

Now he is doing exactly what a big man should do, physically intimidating his opponent, taking contested marks and moving the ball quickly by hand.

Since returning from injury he has been absolutely fantastic and credit to him for continuing to improve.

As a side note, I think his development this year is right on track. He was picked up as a rookie in 2001, and now at 25 is starting to reach his peak. That is about average for really big ruckman.

From a "list management" perspective, I'd much rather have Johnson in the team ahead of Jamar.

Especially with games coming up against the mighty rucks of Richmond and Fremantle ;)

lol..yes, might need to rest the Russian, i can sense "soreness" ..lol

As others have so shall I follow in prasing this bloke. He has definitley lifted and created more aspects to his game. His kicking has improved also.. An aspect i did quite like about White wwas his kicking and if Jamar can bring this up to that level then he really will have a future at teh club... good on ya mate!! well done

No, he wasn't, in fact he was terrible.

He had a very awkward jumping style that often saw him leaning backwards, and often landed on his arse after it. And when this style did somehow get his hand to it, who knew where it was going.

He corrected his ruckwork last year and played his most effective rucking games, and little else.

These games since he's come back from injury he's been outstanding in most areas.

But to say he was always a great tap ruckman is pure fantasy and quite laughable.

even had people discussing his form on radio last evening.

he has been very important for the midfield - providing that big body we have lacked.. win his fair share of hitouts and hit them to advantage...

his combination with moloney is fantastic!!

very happy for him - he is a super competitior.. hates being beaten - as shown when lade took the mark in the third.... just could not get there after running the length of the field....

Great game, just needs to learn how to kick!!!

Yeah his field kicking isn't too bad but his set shots let him down. Had he nailed those two shots Sunday he would have turned a good game into a very good one. A ruckman who kicks goals also puts a massive amount of pressure on the opposition.

No doubt his ruckwork is a reason why we have won our last couple of games.

Jamar is a beautiful kick. But not a beautiful kick for goal. Get someone on the goal line saying "Kick it to me Jamar", and he will nail it. His ruckwork has really impressed me this year, Massive improver. Should continue. I don`t know why some posters on this site favour Spencer and Meesen as our number 1 ruckman. It is defiantly Jamar number one.

Hahaha I thought you were serious for a second. Had to re-read it a couple times. Bless the internet and miss-interpretations. Yes. 'List Management' sounds good. While we're at it I'd like to think about preserving Jurrah and Grimes for next season and replace them in the side with Newton and Bartram. I think Davey would also be a nice like and like swap with Valenti.

I'm one who has been very critical of Jamar in the past, but i'm pleased to say he's improved immensely and surpassed all my expectations. His work-rate is better than it's ever been, he seems to be moving more freely and is more mobile than he has been in previous years, and his competitiveness in his ruckwork is right up there with the best.

Improve his kicking, and he'll become a very dangerous prospect. At the moment, it's the only criticism of him that remains in my mind, as his propensity to handball at all costs is very predictable (he'll look to handball, even when he's alone in space), and his complete lack of confidence in front of goal is not up to AFL standard.

He's certainly come a long way since being nicknamed 'doughnuts' all those years ago though. I must admit i never thought he'd be able to get up around 20 disposals in a match, ever, so it's definite testament to his improvement in work-rate.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
