Feel as though I can add a little to the discussion regarding Liam. He has played for the Yuendumu Magpies, possibly the proudest, most professional indigenous club in Central Australia. The game in the centre is a vision of the future; quick, skilful, offensive. These guys play on dirt ovals, with perhaps 90% of players in bare feet. The word up in Darwin is that he has been dominating, a very skilful, fast, strong marking forward that is capable of having an immediate impact.

The Jurrah family is a very proud, well respected family in these parts.

It is wonderful to see so many aboriginal boys coming to the Dees, big hopes for Liam.

Lets hope he will be better then nick-nak. Sounds like he can actually play rather then just being a circus act

Only about 80 picks apart.

I am sure the other 15 clubs got it wrong

Any guesses onw here he would have gone if he was available in the national draft?

Any Chance of Liam Jurrah playing rd 1.

Having already had VFL experience, I'm sure if his fit will play pre-season and if goes alright could well be in contention for rd 1 v Kanga's

Well if he is in best 22 I guess - yes...... See how he goes in NAB first huh?

"He is a 193cm forward who moves like a midfielder," Cusack said.

He's got a touch of Greg Oden about him. Couldn't pick him being a 20-21 y.o by looking at him. Looking forward to seeing him NAB.

In the NAB or the NBA?

He does sound very interesting.

I hope he does play tall - because we really do need more quality KPPs on our list.

We let several talls pass us by again - I still think our overall recruting strategy over the past two years has been too biased toward midfielders without the height or weight necessary to compete in the air

A tall mercurial forward to play alongside Watts and Robbo, with Davey and Maric at their feet with Aussie helping out. MMMM.

Blease, Strauss, Mclean, Jones, Jetta streaming through the middle after Martin, Garland and Rivers have knocked the ball out to Bail, Petterd and Grimes.

Go the Dees!

Have you been to many games over the last couple of years? its our middle that has let us down. Thats where we have been getting smashed!

We've been getting smashed everywhere

But we have any number of midfielders with potential. How many quality young talls do we have.? Watts, Martin, Newton? Jurrah?

My school travels to Yuendumu every year as part of our Central Australia trip we do in year 10. We've got close ties with their community. My bro was just speaking to one of our ex-students who works in Yuendumu now and Liam Jurrah was with him while they were talking haha!

Not sure when he comes down to train yet, hopefully I can find out...

This is so exciting for me, having seen the living conditions in Yuendumu... its great that someone from their town can be represented in the AFL.

they are a football-mad town you have no idea and the best news is that they'll all probably go for Melbourne now because of Jurrah and not Collingwood like they all do atm. (They're team is called Yuendumu Magpies so they love Collingwood)

Just spoken to a friend who played with the Collingwood VFL team alongside Jurrah.

Reckons he is an absolute freak and compared him to a Micky O type but with the athleticism of a Buddy Franklin.

Not that its a downside as many have alluded to on this thread but my friend alerted me to the fact that whilst he is a nice young man he is extremely quiet. My friend said he wouldn't have spoken more than 10 words at a training session. Obviously coming from a rural area to the big smoke for the first time would be an overwhelming expierence so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Let's hope he has a great career and blossoms with the likes of Jetta, Davey, Bennell, Wonna and Whelan.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
