  1. Just FYI... in case you were expecting to see sunshine on your TV this Sunday... potentially 50mm of rain over two days - this one could be a very ugly game to watch... Probably won't be as bad as Metricon several weeks back - but I think this makes a big difference as to what contest this will see. I hope we have learnt something from the Hawks game, because the Bloods will play the wet pretty well I reckon! Discuss...
  2. Good work Karmichael. I know this is Demitrou's wet dream come true. Cop that Richmond. still rather see a Tassie or NT AFL team some day, but I guess we have to go along with the circus that is our 'National Game'
  3. Yes you will have a blast! I went two years ago when we won by a point, fans going wild. It's a shame none of the territory boys aren/t playing, that's what the locals up there come for. No Jurrah , no Davey (and no more Wona ) But yeah I bought my ticket earlier that week leading up to the game, just on Mitchell street (the Flinders Street equivalent if you like) up in Darwin city from the Arts Centre there, reserved seat, right near the players race. So close to the action too, not like the 'G or Eithad! ground is about 20 minutes out of town. plenty of buses will be running. Should be a crowd of anywhere between 7000 - 10000 i reckon. You should check out training during the week too if you're there early in the week! A really good opportunity to get up close and chat to the players/coaches - but you may have to catch a taxi for that one. Ring up AFL NT too if ya get stuck, they'll give you all the info you need! Enjoy the game.
  4. there are a lot of frustrated people on this forum.
  5. Jetta - his best game. ---> getting a bit picky here, but i went and saw the boys play port in Darwin last year (one point win!) and that was his best game in my opinion, dominated in the slippery, humid conditions! but yes, he was good last night, I'm loving Jetta and Bennell combos!
  6. Thanks RudeBoy and Japaljarri. Having been to yuendumu and playing a game there (our school - MECS goes there every year for our Central Australia trip) i can totally relate to what you guys are saying. I am still expecting Liam to kick 10 one game! I get the impression that he's being tried in different roles and told to hold back on the speccies by the coaching staff... is this true? I wish they could just give him a bit more freedom to play his own game... Can't wait to see Jungarrayi take a hanger again!
  7. As ordinary as we have been tonight. the umpires have really sucked the [censored] of the west coast supporters, giving in to their louder cheering of ball after every tackle as well as letting several balls that were clearly over the line go un noticed.
  8. I miss the days of Davey tearing it up in the forward line... never was a fan of him as a midfielder (even though he's probably our most accurate kick) having said that, we probably have enough players of that mould to fill those positions anyway (e.g. Jetta, Bennell, Jurrah, Wonna, Maric...) but it'd be great to see him kicking goals ... and doing this more often: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xeh4Ws0ugs
  9. An ABC news story about an outbreak of violence in Liam's home town for those who are interested: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/09/15/3012685.htm?section=justin
  10. Yep I thought it was brilliantly done. Corey Jones should have gone in through with him, but I guess they're both just too bloody modest.
  11. humble pie anyone? lol there goes my $20 down the drain...
  12. I've done a combo bet ---> Dees at 3.15, Cats at 1.11 and Hawks at 1.36, $4.75 all up and I chucked a lobster on it... hopefully bring back $95... Won $80 in Darwin when I tipped the Dogs to beat Roos, Essendon to beat the Toigs and Dees to beat Port, what a night! Almost won $140 from the Pies game... bloody Petterd... jks
  13. Well if you want a good general admission seat I recommend Level 2A in the Southern Stand, directly behind the goals, I've always sat there and I love it... + there's usually a good contingent of Melbourne supporters there...
  14. mm yeah that's an interesting thought... is he in their emergencies though?
  15. Just with regards to the weather in Darwin... Like most of the people who obviously live up there and know the weather have said, I think playing in the evening in the dry season would make a huge difference. (compared to this one instance where the dry hasn't come through yet) I have been up there in July last year and June the year before (well and truly into the dry season) and the weather at night was perfect, no different to a game you'd play early season in Melbourne where its still mid 20s coming out of Summer/Early Autumn... We were just unlucky with the way the weather turned out this year, usually the dry is in full swing by now and I can say, once the dry season comes, it stays VERY, VERY consistent - low humidity, no rain, perfect evenings. Just a bit of bad luck in the end really...
  16. Spot on there. I have a mate who works at AFL NT and he was saying considering all the other events that night, 8.8k at TIO was good.
  17. Ps... Darwin current weather... (from weatherzone also) temp. = 30.5, relative humidity 67% FEELS LIKE = 35.5
  18. Yep he's def. a nice guy in person, had a chat to him for about 5 minutes on the ground before training last night, he asked me about my trip up here and what I was doing for the rest of the week which was pretty good of him I thought. LATEST WEATHER FORECAST: (as per weatherzone.com.au) 6pm - Intermittent rain, 30 degrees (chance if rain = 60%, humidity = 75%) 9pm - mostly cloudy, 28 degrees (chance of rain = 8%, humidity = 80%) so could go either way really with the weather... The daily forecast says ---> Possible shower, 25-33degrees, chance of rain 80%, likely amount = 10-20mm and we haven't had any rain today so far... So who knows! I'm Hoping for a bit of rain myself!
  19. Yes well we'll see haha, all I know is that Dunny and Spencer were there today twiddling their thumbs waiting to sign autographs and Spencer actually asked me what time the training was when I said I was going to watch the rest of the team train lol! Cos when he told me he was an emergency I said "I thought you were selected for PJ" to which he said "it might have been a typo..." Then when I spoke to DB at training when he came to inspect the ground he said "Spencer is every chance to play" Very coy... Gotta love it... So I'm not sure, but I hope Nev plays instead ps see the 'Darwin - who's flying up' topic for my mini report on their training sesh... ;p
  20. Well that was a good bit of fun, albeit a very short training session, Big emphasis on the slippery conditions tonight with the players practicing a lot of ground level kicks and drills. The boys then headed straight to the freezer room next to ground for about ten minutes straight after and were nowhere to be seen after that... As for the ground, a lot different to anything you'll see down south, rather a very spongy 'couch' turf up here (most pitches in melbourne are rye) but very slippery and wet from the rain we had earlier today... Looks like it'll be more or less the same for tomorrow night, should be a cracker. had a good chat to Scotty West too and said the gloves helped him when he played the last few years so expect a few to be wearing them tomoro night. Interesting to note that Spencer at the shops today when I spoke to him told me that he was an emergency... Possibly Nev Jetta will take his place , when I asked Dean Bailey tonight he was pretty coy and said that Spencer "is every chance to play". He also said that Wona "has played two games in the VFL and we could have waited another week, but he needs to play some senior football" lol straight from the horses mouth, hopefully Jetta gets the nod.
  21. At training right now, so good. Arrived before the players so got to have a good chat to Scott west, brad Miller, green, and had a hoot chat with the man himself DB! He didn't seem to happy with the ground condition lol. Mathew Primus is hidden in the crowd spying on us too
