Damn I hate Carlton.

Actually I hate cheats; and consequently I hate Carlton

I seriously wish the AFL would stop pretending there is a Salary Cap for an even competition with everyone on level footing, so that I wouldn't get so annoyed with 'the fxture' and the salary cap etc

Honestly, if they were abolished, I could accept that we are crap because we are poor and other clubs are good because they are rich.

He's only training there.

I can't see Carlton taking Bentley as well, unless he's happy to go on a rookie list.

Otherwise they won't be much of a chance to get CJ.

So that bargaining chip of #1 pick in PSD is looking like it was a big thing now.... :P

Didn't help us net anything in trade week, and now it looks like we wont even get a decent player with the pick!

Even that random Bentley guy from Port is training with Carlton now lol

What a [censored] season.

I guess this can't happen but I think it would be hysterical if CJ trains with Carlton and they decide they don't want him.

It could happen, except that Carltank have gone public about offering him a 2yr contract. They'd be sued if they pulled out.

Hey Beavis....this sucks.

I was keen on Hislop coming across to the dees. He looks like he will be retained by the bombers. We have Danny Hughes training with us, which is interesting because unless he has found a bucket load more footy smarts, and some toughness, there is no way known he will make it on our list. I think he is a talent, just not strong enough ot make it based on passed performances back in the day.

#1 pick in the PSD is about as valuable as a half eaten snickers bar and a warm juice box. Nice of us to land it on a year where uncontracted talent is at an all time low!!!!

Maybe we should start talking to the soccer A-League about bringing a Demons team into the A-League. No wait. That won't work as we don't have our own arena to say, AFL, stuff you!

I guess we'll just have to be their little silver tailed door mat...

haha out of all the players available we have Daniel Hughes training with us who has already been delisted 2 yrs ago . Oh my god we are pathetic at the moment.

Stupid comment. Its a pre-season training list >> means nothing.

I'm leaning towards drafting Greg Bentley with pick 67 in the National draft - if still available. I've seen him play a few times and I believe he'll be a competent AFL player. Certainly wasn't the worst player on Port's list and was a tad unlucky to be delisted.

We'll use our first 4 or 5 picks on a kid, so I believe we can afford to take a risk on a mature 21 year old who's had plenty of development under Mark Williams/Dean Bailey at Port Adelaide.

He fits the age criteria, and we need someone who can instantly impact on our best 22 - as it's looking pretty barren at the moment.

Because these blokes are training with an AFL club doesn't really mean much at all .Not many will be drafted anyway , and some drafted by clubs other than where they have been training .

All these players have to go in the draft anyway , so if we are interested in them , we get first crack via the PSD . If we really want a particular player , we should be signing them right now for the no1 PSD pick so they can't be picked up by anyone else in the ND .

there hasn't been much talent in the PSD for some time... look at the PSD's since 2004, nothing in there to get excited about... the only good players to be drafted from it are those who slipped through the national draft...

the last time the PSD was decent was 2003 when Stevens and Rawlings were in it...

Martin turned out to be a diamond in the rough. He is showing glimpses of being a very capable sort at this level.

As for the draft history, it does tell us that it is rare to find someone who will be worth hanging onto for more than a season or two. Martin is an exception to the rule.

2005 had a pretty good strike rate. Guerra, White, Thomas and Porplyzia are all established players, with Porplyzia turning out to be a star, after previously being delisted by the Crows.

It goes to show that players aren't washed up if they haven't made it by the age of 20.

I bet you love putting the club down Tingles. We'll attract players later on, when we start winning. When we do, I bet you're on the band wagon then.

edit: ALan Obst training with Nth Melb. Any relation to Andrew Obst?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
