He'll be lining up at full back for the Dees in round 1 next year. You heard it hear first. The club's too broke to [censored] $270K down the drain and he'll have a good NAB Cup.

no wonder we are broke paying for TJ to the lions and paying for woewodin to the filth

What sort of business gives away assets (well not in this case) and pays money too

who the hell is responsible for this hope they stilll are not around

Both were common sense trades. We needed more of them.

You're off the mark and missing the point.

No, you heard it here first, Carroll will not be at Melbourne in 2009. They will not [censored] $270k down the drain. They will negotiate a much smaller payment or the matter will end in Court ( together with the resultant publicity ) with the Club arguing that he has breached his contract so significantly that it is unenforceable and at an end.

Yep. Or the VFL 2's. Unless he is sensible and deals his way out.

Ricky Nixon better make sure Carroll gets some good advice. Claremont have been speaking to him; would be wise for him to cut a deal with the MFC for a few $'s and go and play for Claremont for few more $'s.

If Carroll has any sense...and of course thats a long bow. He would deal for a payout now and walk into the PSD. That will be the ONLY way he can continue his AFL career..Someone may give him a second chance without it costing them a lot. Dont really care..as long as he's gone

I like most dees would love to see chops gone to the saints but not if it means melbourne must still pay his salary (while playing for the saints) like we did with Wowofull!

Better he clogs up someone elses list rather than ours.. We're going to pay something anyways.

If he goes into PSD..it costs us nothing after what we agree to settle on

That'd be fine by me.

I'd rather pay the extra 50K and have a young kid running around at Casey (?) instead of Carroll.

exactly !! maybe too simple a concept for some ?

Isn't the problem being if we paid him out of his contract it counts towards our 2008 salary cap and puts us over the limit?

It'll be interesting to see if he turns up to training today.

I think you're right.

The club's only option is to suspend him indefinitely with pay.

I don't think that's an issue anymore. We couldn't sack him immediately after the Holland incident because that would've counted towards 2008, but i believe that if we do it now it goes towards next year. We'll know a definitive answer by 31st October, which is the first list lodgement date.

It was interesting to read that Chopper didn't attend the B&F. Is anyone going to the training session today? it'd be nice to know if he's there or not.

I think any such action would be in the 2009 year and with AFL approval.

If He is contracted to the club for next year i would say that means he is a required player. All players were instructed to attend training this morning, By Carroll not showing up that would make it easier for the club to make that last year void i would guess. Interesting, i was sure he was going to roll up and

hoping he would have the attitude "I will show you" maybe i was dreaming.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
