Article in the Sunday HUN by Craig Hutchison about Adem Yze being asked to sign a legal waiver before being allowed to play in Sandringham's finals campaign finishes with this paragraph about Jeff White and Paul Johnson:-

White is expected to be given more opportunities during the next three matches with ruckman Paul Johnson going in next week for hip surgery.

They are trying to get White to show some form in the last 3 matches..... Not for us..... For Sydney or St Kilda to see that he would be of value to their sides next year....

Hopefully for Jeff's sake, he has a few ripper matches..... Been a great servant.... But time to move on....

Totally agree Krazy Jay. Time to put him on show for those clubs. With the likes of Everitt, King and Gardiner most likely finishing up. Jeff White could get another chance at one of those clubs.

Just as long as when Jamar comes in to replace PJ he isn't given 2nd ruck duties.

He is our first ruckman at the moment, and that shouldn't change if White is there instead of PJ.

Agreed, Jamar has earned that right this year and White should be played in the same vein as PJ. It makes sense anyways because White is better than Jamar around the ground, perhaps a forward role for White for the rest of the year, give us a tall target to hit.

Bad news about PJ- he's been a shining light in what's been a very bleak year, and also a well-known personal favourite of mine- but i think it's smart list management by the club to get him off to surgery now, and give himself a chance to be 100% right come pre-season, and firing come Round 1, rather than risk further injury through playing 3 remaining meaningless games this year.

He certainly does seem to have bad luck with injury playing against Geelong this year... <_<

Dean Bailey was on the VFL web stream today at half time (from the Sandy game). The commentators asked him about Jeff White. He basically spelt out what we have all been talking about, saying that he is going to 'sit down with Jeff' at the end of the season and have a chat about where hes at (mindset and physically) and almost talked about him posthumously - saying Jeff has been a great servent of the MFC etc.....

No nothing at all supprisingly.

Spoke a little about Valenti- and how hes coming along

Wonna- said he was terrific at the start of the year, and provided the spark that the boys needed, but did mention that he neds to find that form again, as he ahs been a bit flat for the past 4 weeks

It was the first full interview I have heard from him. Hes a very dry man, gets to the point as doesnt really joke around ( unlike the Rev ). I really think that he ahs a great vision for the club, I for one, cant wait for the next 4-5 years.

GO DEES!!!!

The rest of the season is quite frankly just junk time for us. Best to get everyone fixed up and ready for a preseason .

Couldn't agree more.

It is something the Rev (and Bails) should have tried a long time ago, especially after the "circle" came in to play. Undoubtedly, Whitey has/had considerable talent, but he should have been used as a goal kicking follower, when he was in his prime.

Maybe we could then have kept Snake or Jolly.

Truth is White has never been a goal kicking follower at anytime during his career.

Maybe we could then have kept Snake or Jolly.

We traded Snake because we had Jolly. Jolly cracked it 2004 when he could not get game time against the then AA ruckman. If we had not have traded him, Jolly would have walked out in the PSD the following year for nothing.

I know he's your favourite but how about a straight trade of Robbie Warnock for PJ?

Still looking for PSD but if we are forced to deal...

Precisely, because he was never given that role for long enough

Bollocks. Up to 2005 he was 100% on the field. He aint a goal kicking follower nor is he a forward's bootlace.

Freo have had a history of doing dumb trade deals. Normally you trade to improve your list. Freo would just honouring its history with this trade of a real ruck prospect for 200cm athletic type that is neither one thing or the other. Makes no sense.

MFC would be hardly forced to deal if that was on the table. I would signed before Freo could blink. However, I would prefer to take Warnock in the PSD.

Rev had a crack at a flag with what he had in the 04-07 period and it backfired.

Hindsight suggests it would have been a good time to trade Yze, White and a few others and loaded up again with the likes of Jolly carrying key responsibilities.

He didn't and now we are where we are. He fell into the same trap countless others have before by over-rating the ability and desire of what he had. Stiff [censored] for us. Its now up to Bails to start again, the plan is in progress.

No, Not bollocks at all. It is my opinion, you don't have to agree, but don't be insulting.

White was either a tap ruckman, or played a kick behind the play. He rarely played as a floating tall forward.

On the few occasions he did, he could snag one from outside 50. It wasn't all that long ago, he won a game with that magnificent last kick of the day.

In my view, he was a player that had undoubted talent, which, IMO, was never harnessed correctly.

Cheers

Junk time for us or for "them?"

One of the biggest stuff ups was when Freo traded Andrew McLeod..... that was one big boo boo.....

That was what 2004? or 2005? Over 3 years ago against the Bulldogs. That is the only time I can remember him floating forward and doing something significant. Wasn't it from a free kick thanks to Wade Skipper third man in from a ball up or stoppage? He didnt even take a mark then Iv'a....

The point I am making is he was never played in that role often enough to find out.

The rucks were rotated off the bench, with Neita/Holland taking the forward ruck work, with Schwarta doing it before them.

Good followers kick goals. To my mind, he was never played in that role long enough to pass judgement.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
