If ever there was a lock that Morton will get it it's now. I have no doubt that Morton will get it.

I'm astonished that the supporters on this site have no real clue as to the gem they have on their hands.

There was even one clown standing next to me on Saturday who said over and over that we should TRADE MORTON, because he is too skinny.

There was also some talk that Gavin Urquhart from North Melbourne might get the nomination. Don't know why.

Morton's game was his best for the year, but his kicking still needs a lot of improvement.

I'd argue that it doesn't need much improvement at all.

I'd argue it does.

There is always room for improvement.

Thankfully, your opinion doesn't count. He's a very good kick.

Neither does yours

He can reduce the amount of clanger kicks for a start. And work on his penetration with development. He is not the best kick in the side at present.

He's 18, of course he isn't the best kick in the side.

His kicking is fine, and he can kick on both feet with ease.

However, he doesn't at the moment have the greatest confidence in his decision making to kick through the ball, and tends to stab at it.

In the opening rounds I thought Morton's disposal was top class he was doing neat pin point passes and had really good vision for hitting players on the lead and getting rid of the ball in traffic not sure what has happened since but I suspect it's just a confidence thing i'm not concerned with his kicking. It will be a key focus for him over the pre-season along with gym work.

Morton is going to be a star really knows how to find the goals as well which will make him a real threat, one of those players that will be hard for opposition sides to find a good match up for.

On BigFooty they reckon Gavin Urquhart got it?

I wouldn't be surprised.

No info on the NAB Rising Star site yet, though - normally published Tue morning.

Exactly. This just backs up my point, that he's not a very good kick, and at times as you say, "tends to stab at the ball". At present he not a very good kick, but thats not to say he won't be in the near future.

It's hardly your point. Most footy stupid supporters think he's a poor kick.

No offence to the Urquartinator, but Col Garland had to wait quite a while, and he was playing on some of the best fowards in the AFL week in week out, AND not getting beaten. I don't watch much of the Roos, does anyone know if he actually plays on any dangerous fowards or he a flanker or back pocket?

Surely Mortons output across the whole season thus far should have him in front for this round.

You can't just say "he's a good kick" when clearly he has had a very high rate of butchery so far at the start of his career. Of course he may very well become a reliable skilled kicker but at the moment he's not. If I see him with own eyes right in front me kick over the head of a teammate, 20 metres away, both he and his teammate under no pressure, and I say "he's a bad kick at the moment" I am not 'footy stupid'.

He seems to miss a lot of targets when he is not under pressure and is just a straight foward kick. However, one kick he is exceptionally good at, which not many on our team are, is that one where he is able to cut the ball at a sharp, low angle to a target into the F50. A very handy asset to have on any team.

Read Fuzz's post. He appears to be one of the few that's watched Morton all season & has retained some degree of recall.

well Fuzz is actually saying his disposal has been ordinary at the moment

Which is a lot different to saying he's a bad kick. I'll leave you to sort through the nuances.

you're arguing with me that "he's a bad kick at the moment" is significantly different to "his disposal is ordinary at the moment" ?

Not at all. Read the Fuzz post but this time try to comprehend it. Although on the evidence so far I hold faint hope of that happening.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
