Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

This is not all doom and glom - Schwab knows the lie of the AFL landscape - and knows thye culture of the club...let's see how this plays out...

McNamee is a great acquisition and won't be going anywhere, and there is more than enough room for Schwabb to return in another role.

Oh dear.

I'll back Stynes and co. on this. If Schwab's better than McNamee or there is a role for him at the club bring him in. Good people are hard to find so when there's a chance to grab them you grab them. If McNamee's struggling then he need's help (or a different job)

Have we heard from any other source, rumor or otherwise, that Paul Mac is struggling? Not the 'OMFG we're $5M in debt' struggling, but 'i'm not coping in this role' struggling..... I haven't heard a thing.

Just sounds like more mud slinging, let it wash over and see what happens.....

He is, though, known to be keen on the idea of an experienced football person joining the club, which has been further weakened by the resignation of chief financial officer George Savvides.

Savvides, recruited by Harris three years ago, was regarded as an efficient and popular member of senior staff. He is expected to leave early next month.

I don't know anything about George Savvides and this is nothing against him personally but if he's the CFO then surely he's the one responsible for the fine mess we're in at the moment i.e. at least two years of performing well below budget and this year staring at a $2m loss. How are we weakened by his resignation?

You would think he should. He has been central at Freo for many years and has achieved little. He has overseen 2 salary cap debacles (one at MFC and one at Freo). He left MFC in tatters. I note Eddie passed over him when he wanted a good CEO some years ago.

If it is true, its a concern that we are using the "current" Freo CEO with a dubious track record to mentor a supposed experienced and highly capable CEO at MFC that was recently appointed.

Valid point and a separate issue to the Schwab matter.

When Schwab took over as CEO at Freo, they were a financial basket case. I think you'll find that he has turned their financial fortunes around.

So little in fact, that he's overseen a turnaround from an $8m debt (yes, $8m, that's more than half your club's current debt over again) to around $7m in the bank. Freo has also more than doubled their membership in his time and has more corporate sponsors than they know what to do with.

I was less than impressed when he was appointed, but his off-field record at Freo is second to none. I realise that it's very different running a club in Melbourne than it is in Perth, but I'm sure if you have both Connolly and Schwab on board they will do everything in their power to help turn your club around too.

Sounds like he might know what he's doing. With regard to salary cap issues are we saying that was all his idea. I think you'll find dirt on the hands of the board members at the time. Were they the same board who tried to merge us? Anyway, let's not go back there. I'm all for Schwab joining the team but wouldn't mind keeping McNamee on. He has some flair and knows the business's that sponsor sport so he may well be useful.

How about we all go get ourselves a beer..a wine.. a latte..or a chill pill. We dont really know ANYTHING. Other than Sawides is going and its been correctly highlighted that that in itself may NOT be such a bad thing !!

It was mentioned in the article that it was thought MasNamee might use some help/mentoring. All of a sudden he's being replaced. It all sounds a bit Mark Twain to me !!

How hard would that have been in two club town that is AFL mad?

He commenced there with a salary cap breach.

They are the most underperform side in the AFL over his tenure and they are an outfit that has a questionable overall club culture and lacks respect as chronic underachievers in the football world.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
