paul johnson is a gun and like the commentaters said he looks much better in the ruck today. his taps were spot on!

I will be honest and say that on today's performance, I think Jeff White may struggle to come back into the side straight away!

It is great to have pressure to hold your position.... That is what makes a strong football club!

I thought when he took off after him, 'watch out mate, he's quicker than you think!'. Shame his team-mates undid his good work (they shall remain nameless).

I remember watching him at Sandy a few yeras ago. He was on the wing- boundry line. At full pace he bent down , scooped the ball up, had a couple of bounces then slotted the best goal i`d seen in a while. He got the JJ Liston that year without playing a full season. He then suffered that injury, it`s great to see him back with confidence in his body.

Was a brilliant chase, just goes to show that sometimes just having a go is enough.

Sherman was probably laughing to himself thinking "this guy will never catch me", and he did. The mere presence of a player running towards you puts a lot of players under enough pressure to turn it over. We did this particularly well today.

Also, apart from his shocking kick, Jamar's work in the ruck was outstanding. He completely dominated over Charman and most of his taps were directly to our guys (for a change). I think that if he just started imposing himself more and believing that he can play at this level, that he could be a decent player yet.

I think that he has so little confidence in his kick, it keeps him back a little. If he had confidence in that, he'd be fine.

Just got home... what an unbelievable game!

Great chase from PJ, and it looked great seeing the big man lay the tackle, keep his feet then scoot off with the footy and deliver... superb. Thought PJ's second half was outstanding, didn't look switched on in the first half and was barely sighted. But his influence later in the game was great, and his ruckwork was a definite improvement on recent games. He didnt spend a lot of time in the ruck, so his hitout numbers might not be that impressive, but his taps all seemed to go to advantage.

Agree about Jamar. I'm pretty sure that kick that went out-on-the-full was his only kick today. He still hasnt improved his ability to find the ball and use it, but the quality of his ruckwork cannot be questioned. He was outstanding, particularly in the first half.

His defensive running was something i noticed a huge improvement in today too. He, like PJ, ran hard and chased with real intent to catch the bloke and stick the tackle, something White has never really done.

I wonder if DB or anyone else from the footy dept got on here last week and read the ruckman topic on here.

Today was a perfect example of that 'scenario C' i mentioned in that thread.

It was awesome. The way the crowd went up.

Imagine if Aussie had kicked that snap shot. I don't know what would have happened. Would have definitly been the greatest moment of my life lol

This is EXACTLY why I like the guy... mobile ruckman = gold dust.

He may have had a quiet day, especially in the first half, but stuff like that lifts you...

At the end of the game I was high-fiving the players at the boundary... I high-fived him and yelled at him great chase... And my hand is still throbbing.

Oh, and did you notice Sherman was run down by Jamar as well?

So much for trading for him...

The thing about Jamar which I love is he absolutely knows his limitations. His only kick went out on the full, but every other time he ever touched the ball, he handballed it on to another - usually much more talented player. I would much prefer a Jamar taking a contested possession which he offloads to another, than White taking twenty dinky little uncontested ones that have come from - and go to - nowhere.

That was a super chase down. One of the bigger roars i've heard from the crowd for the Dees in quite some time. Reminded me of Aussie's goal to put us in front at the Freo game, and the 2005 cheer when we made the top of the ladder about 16 rounds in against Hawthorn.

I've always liked PJ. I remember back last year I think it was up in Sydney, he was playing a blinder before hurting his shoulder. He has the potential and is very quick for a tall guy, just needs to improve his mobility. Not really a ruckman, but was played in a good position today.

That was against Sydney in early 2006.

i.e. Everyone/anyone else in the team!

Haha, it's easy taking potshots at the big Russian, i guess it's force of habit... ;)

Its a good point you make, but I guess the main question mark has to be whether his positives/strengths outweigh those limitations. The last 7 weeks of the year will tell us alot with White out of the team. Today was a very good start.

I really enjoyed his game today though. Career-best perfomance Jaayyyy-maaaaarrrrrr!!!!!!

Never have i heard our crowd cheer so loudly over something that wasn't a goal or a mark.

and it was worth it. I quite literally cannot talk now, and much of my problem begain at this moment.

Was an amazing chase, great pressure which we applied all day, wow!

I was on my feet for the majority of the chase, urging him on.... i just knew he was gonna get him! It was more like spring racing carnival than footy... "Come on PJ... go PJ go!... GO... yeSS, GO.... YEEEEAAHAHHH!!!!!!"

Had a few Lion's people around me who were absolutely livid with Sherman. And rightfully so... i know i'd hate to see one of our more capable running players getting run-down by a ruckman. I gave them a bit of sympathy and said, "well, he is pretty quick for a big bloke..." I think that just pi$$ed em off more, to be honest. hahaha

i'd have to say that was the best run down i've ever seen.

I must be getting soft in my old age, my voice is almost back here, and it took 24 hours after the Freo game!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
