and ben johnson for hit on bell, gutless

Exactly.

It's a shame that in the end he got suspended for something that really wasn't all that bad, purely because of the media pressure and such placed on him from his previous incidents.

We don't want the tribunal using this incident as an example in the future, but he certainly deserves to be suspended for his pathetic weekly cheap shots. You play with fire long enough, you'll eventually get burnt.

Exactly.

What justice!

He's going to miss their game v Collingwood.

I'd rather he played.

Probably not the most serious of the big cases he's had to face... But this is an excellent case of Karma coming back to bite him.

Now... If he defends it and gets off there'll be hell to pay.

One week accepted.

At first i thought it looked a bit softer than his other charges, but on seeing the last replay it really is a poor hit. Lucky he could plead guilty to cut a week off the suspension

I can't believe how thrilled I am to read that. Would have been shattered if Yze got the record because his form often didn't warrant selection, and then I would have been even more shattered if Goodes got it because I don't believe he plays with the same good sporting attitude that Jim did.

Reckon Stynes might have a little smile on his today as well.

Correct - had Goodes or Yze taken this record it would have been without merit in either case. Goodes is a top player, but is extraordinarily fortunate to have had his sequence of games go this far.

If masturbation was a citable offence Goodes would be out for life.

I despise that [censored].

He is a fantastic player... As the Age article, and Jaded suggested, "Goodes is the thief booked for jaywalking". Shame he got rubbed out for a soft one when he has other priors that are viewed as worse.

I also admire the man for his longevity along with Yze and the great Jim Stynes, the last time the swans played without Goodes was round 21 in August, 1999 FFS!!! I watched him play in the under 18 granny in '95 on the G, he played well that day. He was not viewed as going to be anything special and he worked his @rse off to become a champion of our game.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
