Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 2

They wanted it more, ran more all day, and tried everything they had.

We looked lazy, overused the ball, and didn't run for the first three quarters.

One of the worst display I have seen in a while.

We still won! We finally played badly in a game we should win and managed to win. Hopefully it keeps up!

Tyson with most AFL Fantasy points. 145.

Absolutely hilarious all those potting Tyson.

Clarry got a lot of it but wasn't nearly as crisp & clean as he was last week. There are times when just a simple bandpass will do. He'll learn heaps from this.

Salem clear BOG.

Before the free game today fox footy showed that we have youngest list with also the second least games experience wise. If we can keep developing there could be good things ahead. All I took out of today was that we managed to grind out the win instead of me walking away hating the team after losing another game.

Yes lets not forget that....the youngest team in the AFL. Its not all gloom and doom is it....

He was okay. Had a good last quarter.

Not at all. I didn't think we ever looked lazy, we looked more panicked & frenetic & pressured.

And we couldn't figure out or anticipate what they were trying to do, which was an extra defender or two and then use width to attack as we drop off them.

Confused, yes, but never lazy, I thought we gave it everything the whole game. We needed that bit of class in that last quarter.

Carlton heaped the pressure on us all day save for that small period in the second where it looked like we might kick away a bit. If I were a Blues fan I would be very happy with what Bolton is teaching them, they were mostly disciplined and moved the ball well in that third quarter. I think we absorbed the pressure when it came but as Lewis said we over used the ball too much at times, I get the chip and go idea and hold onto the ball but we need to also look at releasing into space and not boxing ourselves in.

Well done to Harmes today, not a starring role but did some very important things and held his position well.

Oliver is a freak, he's going to be (if he already isn't) an absolute star for us. I'd say he's in front in our B&F.

Salem played a great game and I'm stoked for him. If anyone deserves a clean run at it it's him.

Jetta was phenomenal, how good was his contest against Kruezer and he stood up at the end!

I could go on but ultimately it won't be a fondly looked at game, we won in most of the key areas but butchered it a lot of times to keep them in it and then the Blues got a sniff in the third term. We can be so much better and we got the win so onto Geelong, be ready to take some huge pressure into the game next week because it they thought this week was tough I feel like next week could be a really charged atmosphere.

So far off the mark it's ridiculous. They had a red hot crack. We played the better footy all day, just our skills weren't up to the game plan quite a bit, but we were harder, had the more damaging players and cleaner in close and got away with it. Gotta get those ugly wins to finish high. Job done, next!

Lost count of the number of times we were found out with their spread with players jogging to position. They clearly ran harder from the view on telly.

Mistake central.

Jones, Salem and T-Mac really solid and Garlett inspiring.

Tyson didn't need to come in as I said. 80% mistakes, his man beat him to the contest most times. Makes us look slower.

O-Mac will go straight out for Frost when Frost is ready.

Happy to get a win out of a performance like that.

Let's actually show up with some smarts and skills against Geelong though.

Otherwise #187 here we go

You have got to be kidding me, Steve. He was just about best on ground and kicked the sealer. He's slow, but he gut runs and gets to most contests and kicks goals.

That only happens when we were running forward of the ball and our poor skills turned it over leaving space and loose players ahead for Carlton. You can't attack and defend at the same time. Had nothing to do with work rate.

Agreed, never thought they looked lazy, definitely tried all day, you could see some players running with nothing left in the tank in the last. It wasn't a great win by any means, but it's the emergence of a more competitive team.

i think the panic is because they expected to win, and lost control. At least they came over the top outplayed them in 3 quarters. More polish in some areas, but just played better overall. Deserved the win, has everyone forgot the first half?

Well not that long ago, -  since the last round in 2016 against Geelong. So that makes it only the worst display since two (AFL), games ago.

Nearly everything else you wrote I agree with. (Not sure about didn't run for three quarters).

Thought Hannon did very well at times, especially in the last. Oliver is a gun, Watts stood up when needed, as did Jones and to a lesser extent Viney. Jetta is a dead set gun. The mac Bros were solid. Jeffy has found his chase again, has started the year very well. Harmes also stood up when needed and Salem showed what we have seen glimpses of for the last few years.

Understand that but I would expect them to run back, not jog. Too many were jogging.

good:

salem, Clarry, Jeffy, TMac, Jones

poor:

Brayshaw, Harmes, Viney

Not sure where to put Watts - there was one moment today in the 2nd q, right in front of me on the members side half forward flank, where he led into space, was overlooked and had a sook. The ball was still delivered to his area and he made no effort to get to the contest when he could've easily to spoil or get the ball to ground. Really poor effort.

But then he did some good things...

an eyesore of a game and I have many more grey hairs. Bit we take the win, move on, and never speak of it again.

For every good thing he did he also had about two half-hearted contests.

Constantly going for the chest mark in pack situations was the worst.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
