  1. The funny thing is that Jeremy McGovern, the 4 time All Australian, didn’t even play seniors until he was 22 years old.

  2. you don't get a game based on draft number. Jeffo has only in the past 6-7 games starting showing anything close to AFL form Sparrow and Jordon both played zero games in their first 2 seasons. LJ Kozzi Rivers played 40+. Everyone is different.

  3. 100% spot on. Only 18 months ago with comments such as “Melksham must have pictures of Goody” ”Goody’s pet, only getting a game cause he’s Goody’s besty” etc etc Those posters know exactly who they are. Changing their tune just for clicks now.

  4. No, they played Windsor straight away because they saw he was ready even though for example to me it looked like Kolt was far more ready at pre-season training, they held Kolt back until he played well in the midfield at Casey and he is doing well now. They didn't play McVee in his first year when he looked miles off but played him round one in his second year when he had shown readiness on the back of a big pre-season. They held back JVR in his first year and unleashed him when he was ready in his second year and he has been a continuous selection every since, unlike KPFs at other clubs who are in and out. There are many other examples. Perhaps you prefer the Jack Watts QB experience or Michael Tucks 100 games in the 2s ...

  5. Every player is different, some are ready to go within the first year or two and others take time. Just because he was pick 15 does not mean he has to be played within the first 2 years. If you watch some of the most well run clubs such as the cats and swans they take their time developing players before they play AFL and thankfully so do we now.

  6. Play him off the Bench this week, if his mind is ready. Home Game against WC is the perfect scenario. He has been training 100% for weeks now Off the Bench in the Forward line…

  9. Yeah no comparison really - Goodwin a premiership coach with a 58% win record vs Mitchell a rookie coach, yet to coach finals and with a 38% win record. I recall we beat Hawthorn 93-38 earlier this year.

  11. Going off MFC socials, Jake will be playing this week. I’ve never heard a bad word against this man. When he grabbed the Freo jumper that said ‘Jackson’ a couple years ago and threw it on the ground, it really struck me how much he cares about the jumper and his understanding of what club culture means. Have a cracker game Jake.

  12. I like the idea of putting Melky straight in: 1. The recovery sessions that these guys do are far harder than regular training. 2. Pretty sure he would not have cut any corners. 3. Can’t see any benefit in sending him to Brisbane to play in the seconds for a week. 4. Watched West Coast’s insipid defence last week. If he wants to get some form, this is the team to start on. Hope he goes really well – hope for the best, plan for all possibilities. Woey will probably be the sub, and may come on for him in the case of limited minutes anyway.

  13. Excellent. We need all hands on, from now till September. with a Bunch of young kids in the side, we need to make finals, and we need to kick goals in the 4th Quarter

  14. I don’t see the rush. He is a skinny key position tall. Why no rush on Adams? We can’t let our desperation ruin his development. He’s finally showing consistent form at Casey and that’s all you can ask of him this year. I remember every man and his dog wanted Roo to debut in 2022 and he was far more physically developed. Roo had plenty of time to develop physically and work on his game and therefore has been able to make consistent impact at senior level. I wish the same for Jefferson and I think 2025 will be his year to try and cement an AFL spot. If finals is out of question we may give him a game later in the season for a taste, but right now bringing him in is setting him up to fail.

  24. That's true for Jordon, but Sparrow debuted in his first year at the club. As for Jeffo, he hasn't been selected yet as he clearly hasn't been ready for AFL level.

  29. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Jake Melksham. Two years ago, I thought he was done and glad he hit the 💯 for the Dee’s. Then, when he did the ACL, he could have legitimately retired. Instead, he doubles down and gets back ahead of schedule. He is what our forward line is desperately missing: not just his kicking (although he’s a super kick), not just his contest (although he can lock down any key defender) but it will be his smarts and leadership which will help steady and form our young and rudderless forward line.

  30. The Brisbane Lions are one game off top spot, the Casey Demons are languishing in the bottom third of the ladder but the possible increase in available AFL-listed Demons should make this game more interesting than appears to be the case. My question for the week to the people who put together the VFL fixture is why it didn't happen last week when Melbourne played in Brisbane?

  32. Well .... I was wrong ( can't remember the last time ) .... didn't think that Milkshake would come straight back after such a break. Run out the game and kick three Jake !!!!!

  33. It usually doesn't work. Goodie has made a career of bringing players straight back in after injury or too early & it usually fails. Salem - fail Bowey - fail Petty- fail McAdam - fail Not a pretty record.

  36. Go look at some of the rubbish he and his partner put on social media. He is the most self absorbed, delusional player. Also commonly known that teammates dislike him and he cracks the sads whenever things aren't going his way. This will be his 4th club for a reason. Absolutely not worth it considering he's also a very ordinary footballer.

  37. Jake is the only one that keeps himself out. He played so many 4-7 possession games over the last few years with very little impact, then had a purple patch late last year. If he can maintain focus and intensity for 4 quarters he is one of the first picked as he is so skilled. That is why he frustrates me so much. He kicks on his left better than most of the team on their preferred foot. Maybe defensive fwd is a way to get him into games? He does that well

  38. Barass and McGovern would be putting on the bid and licking their lips. If Petty doesn't get up then Fullarton or BBB are next in line. IMO Jefferson needs to maintain continuity at Casey.

  39. If i may... can i reverse the question. Who is good enough to keep Milkshake out ?? Hes got more footynouse in one big toe than many and more ability in the other than some currently racking up games. Even at 75% id play him as he'd know how to get to the end of the last qtr.. unlike some who reckon 3 are all thats required. Serious question... to any. Who keeps him out ??

  44. I have to challenge the 'never heard a bad word' about Melksham. I've heard plenty. But almost entirely from Essendon supporters so it doesn't really count. Anyway, he is super professional with preparation and managing his body, and one of the best players in the game when it comes to getting the ball to dangerous people in dangerous places. He has been very active around the bench and coaches box, and is a thinking footballer. I expect he'll be a meaningful part of our glorious charge to finals and might even be playing against his old club (just to annoy me ex, to be sure) in a couple of weeks. Once he has the 2024 premiership medal around his neck, he'll be an interesting prospect for assistant coaching.

  45. King has kicked 159.115 in his first 5 seasons in a terrible team with zero skilled mids. Including a 52.49 season And people compare him to Weid? [censored] me. watch some football He us 202cm he would transform our team Question marks over his body are there but I would give up 2 first rounders any say of the week for him
