Clayton is a required player. But it's not unconditional. He has to decide if he wants to be a walk up hall of famer or a bloke who was very good at footy for a while. His choice.26 points

A job interviewer once asked me if I could perform under pressure. I said "No, but I'll give Bohemian Rhapsody a go".19 points

Overpaying for a key forward like McKay is not what I'd like or expect the club to pursue. What I have heard from a couple of people including a family member who works in the media is the Tom Lynch one whisper that won't go away. We're interested. And that makes most sense given his age, the transition period that Richmond are in and our window with May and Gawn. We wouldn't have to pay overs and we'd still have plenty of picks to work with both to trade or hot the draft.18 points

Never say never I suppose but a source much closer to him (than a minor sponsor at Hawthorn that is) has said he is happy at Dees and comfortable with the message that he is a required player. Can’t confirm this has always been the case but that’s how I understand it is at present.15 points

Clarry could be an assassin by night and dealing heroin to school children by day and I still wouldn't trade him....!!!13 points

Not really hearing anything leaking out of the MFC. Hearing a couple of whispers but nothing really solid. Heard a couple of people say that they believe Flynn will get across the line to us. I think that would be a good result. Mc Adam move might be in doubt. No idea why and I do not rate this whisper. Have heard that the club has a few different strategies in play and that the direction they take will be dependent upon what trades fall early, and not just trades we are involved in. Harmes more than likely to stay along with Tomlinson. I did hear that there may be a key positional switch coming up during the preseason. Will keep the name to myself until after the trade period. Heard nothing re: Oliver except what has been on here.11 points

I don’t care how bad a year Oliver had. Absent destructive cultural problems, he remains a top 10 competition player. Trading him ends our premiership window instantaneously (yes, that’s a hill I’m prepared to die on).9 points

Well Clarries second half of the year was his poorest on record (in my opinion) and against a sensational last 4 years of great years. His return from injury and finals were underwhelming and I thought one of Goodwins tasks during the off season was to not only change the game plan or focus of our chaos ball attack, but to get Clarrie to buy in and get re-energised within the team. Not necessarily an easy thing to do. Add to that Yze going, who the midfield team apparently loved and theres plenty of space for clubs and journos to see a chance of jamming a wedge into our fragile team ethos after straight set double exits. We can be guaranteed these sort of stories continuing to be shoved down our throat, just as sure as the feelgood stories will continue for the next 12 odd months about Collingwood. It will be MFC who will be held to account for Brayshaws concussion issues, not football hero Maynard. Finally Oliver has yet to become an adult. He might be off-side. These are big issues for us going forward and Kate Roffey through to Goodwin and Max and the whole playing list need to spend time and energy healing, re-focussing and uniting into a strong and driven club. We are in for a wild off season. Whether it's an unfounded rumour or not, it's our response that will count.9 points

Can people please stop bring Lynch into trade discussions please, his tummy is full (2x Premierships) and won't recover from his foot issues. 900k- 1m on a player who will be sitting in the stands like Grundy, please! All we will be doing is topping up his super.9 points

The uh... second half of the season that he mostly missed due to injury? Expert appraisal.8 points

I watched of few doggies games this year. He was dreadful. His attempts at contesting were truly pathetic. If Sam Weideman got on your nerves this guy would make your head explode.8 points

Yes, hindsight is 20/20. With 20/20 vision, I have no idea why you would want to take Rory Lobb. He’s horrendously inconsistent, doesn’t work hard enough and isn’t tough enough.8 points

Tom Lynch is definitely not recovering as well as expected from his foot issue. Take that to the bank.7 points

I would rate Dees about 100-1 to get Harry Mckay. Blues will sell the premiership dream and ensure salary cap in order. As for Lynch, he’s body is now a problem and I’m not sure he’s got 2+ years left. Even if interested, Tigers probably asking for a round 1 pick and I’m not buying at that price at all.7 points

Mr Chook.. im a bit if a Tmac convert. Thought he should have been considered more often for games ( and perhaps was ) Alas.. he's cooked. His greatest asset imho was his tank and ability to get to contests in a timely / effective manner ....but he's lost a yard. He's sorta a nearly there version of his prior self. Ok for magoos...gets found out at the top level. A marvellous servant of our club... but the bell looms i reckon.7 points

Don't know why people think McKay would cost multiple high first rounders. He is paid $1 million per year, but Carlton play just as well when he is missing, with Curnow as the clear #1 man, DeKoning playing forward ruck, and Pittonet as a pure ruck. That million a year of salary could be used to make significant improvements to their team in other positions. When Collingwood got rid of Brodie Grundy, at the time a 28 year old two time all australian, they only received pick 27 and they agreed to pay $1.5 million of salary for him.7 points
