I can see ppl being worried but your point - is pretty spot on! its a diff game now and a high premium is placed on rehab even for niggles but the rehab group are still handled well with a lot of running & basically just miss contact drills so I don’t think it’s a bad sign we’ve had so many go through that group. ie Gawn being only member of mid group not “interrupted” but that’s not really true - Oliver and Gus had solid work loads and haven’t really been interrupted even Trac, he’s fitter and looks dominant in sims now - it’s all just precautionary and related to the higher level of professionalism we now have down at the club: one that’s now seems as the leader in innovation and professionalism, a far cry from being the laughing stock just some years ago. From what I’ve seen - I’m not one bit worried about starting later and the new regulations around sessions and breaks etc when there I see a group that’s hungry and that’s going full bore - with an added sense of purpose than ever before! The talk volume and clarity is sensational even Comp to Pies around corner if you watch both groups you see the difference in positive reinforcement but more importantly you hear a lot more focus words re intent and focus from players such as “Come in boys, we gotta want it more than everyone else” or “Keep playing the Melb way, we wanna dominate those gut running red time minutes that’s our edge” and so forth.. trust me - it’s a positive environment down there and one I’ve NEVER seen before! New rules another reason to feel positive - heard BMAC state this on numerous occasions ie “that new centre setup is our gold mine boys, execute and we will win”..12 points

Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of reading the argy bargy that continues to derail training reports. As much as I possibly can, I will be deleting such posts on sight and recommending banning posters (without any favour) if they stray off the topic of training and in particular if they represent personal attacks which are also likely to result in suspension or permanent bans for posters.12 points

I wish Dom all the best. Playing AFL in the midfield with a broken bone takes a lot of guts. He did alright too only so many spots on the field...7 points

Didn't get a name but was credentialed middle distace ruuner He had Harmes leaning on the fence dry retching, spoke to Harmes after, said it was hardest he had ever run, but was already feeling better for it There are new 2km PB's everywhere, Hunt, Jetta and Salem, 3 I know of It's a new season, every player hurt, but as the cliche goes, learn and move on Of course the confidence is there, but pointless otherwise Not interested in gallery oerfect photos, have the eye to snap good action, doesn't matter if it's a bit blurry5 points

Please let me know when you are going to show him, I want to be there4 points

Yes, but you jinxed him?? gave his head a good belt on the ground during the tackling drill, left looking a bit worse for wear, uptil then was really good, received praise a couple of times for his shot selection during ball movementt drills The small forward competition is on, during the tackling drill Garlett, Spargo, Bedford, Corey Wagner and JKH all trying to outdo each other which can only benefit the team Forgot Chandler, edit Walked back to AAMI with James Harmes, had a laugh comparing the skinny blonde kid with the toothy smile from 5 years ago to the man I was walking next to now, he said he is the fittest he has ever been and is one solid unit Oliver completed the whole session with the main group4 points

Just an update after my earlier posts in this thread. The good folks at the Demon Shop have said that “we will have some available with our new sponsor Jaguar on the back within the next couple of weeks”, referring to the match day guernseys with the Jaguar logo on the back. ???3 points

I hope you’re just as willing to re-visit your post every time we win a game with a good conversion rate.3 points

Summary Preuss - Big man who needs to improve fundamentals, working on them (overhead marking/ground balls) hasn’t missed a session. Gawn has had a high work load and having Braydon will release him for stints into the forward line. Sounded like if Preuss improved enough then there was a spot in the team for him. May - Nothing about his hammy, learning the ‘Melbourne way’, different from the Gold Coast although didn’t specify how. Can’t see him in the leadership group even though was at GC. Will be an Important player for us, sees the game well Petracca - Even though coming into 5th year has a lot of improvement left. Re-joined the main training group two weeks ago after a ‘really solid’ stint in rehab after post season surgery. Prelim - covered it really briefly with the group. Won’t go over it again. More of a focus on totality of the year and how to react in certain situations Leadership - was suggested by Garry that perhaps Jonesto take a back seat for the last two years of career. Goodwin indicated that there would not be any big changes to the group. Got the feeling that they are happy with dual captains. Contract - Sounds like a formality. Both sides keen. Jag - Goodie has an E Pace sitting in his drive. Lucky man3 points

I'm not as concerned about goal kicking. It's the forward 50 entries that bothered me last year. If the coaches can drill into them the difference between 'kicking quickly to advantage' and 'bombing it in' we will be cherry ripe. Thanks for the report Saty.3 points

Drawing the logo? Seriously? Our PR has resorted to kindergarten art displays. What's next, player's names spelling bee? Can't wait for the season to start3 points

You're the resident comedian so you should be Groucho, I'm a bit of a motor mouth so I can't be harpo so Deeza plays the harp. I guess that makes me Chico "Get your tootsie frootsie icecream"2 points

Maybe going a little early but if his Dad plays just 58 more games in the red and blue, young Teddy will be eligible as a father/son in the 2037 draft2 points

Perhaps we can have some new names. Macca can be Groucho, Dz can be Chiko and im Harpo.2 points

It will copy and paste without the 'bullet points' (I hope!) I will try and fix later Wadda ... scrolling back to page 14 would be a pain so I will find a way. It's just a very handy tool without the outlay involved anyway. Just knowing who is playing who is good to know.2 points

When I go the home page I see most recent posts in all forums, so isn't the real issue where your bookmark points? I'd be happy for AFLW to be in the main board, particularly at this time of the year when we are starved of actual games to talk about.2 points

With all the talk surrounding Racheal Griffiths up coming film and the Darren Weir saga, i thought id post one of the best racing films of all time......Click on the link to find out! https://ok.ru/video/3333083654752 points

Pretty good result for the MFC - you don't really want players on the fringe of AFL selection having a bye that early in the season, so it will be good to have a game for them to play that week.2 points

Oh ok, so see it works for you but not for me ! haha Nevermind as long as we can locate it when needed. Good luck with the mid week challenge.2 points

i re-read macca's comments and i'm struggling to see where he cast other people's interests or opinions as irrelevant. he just gave his own personal opinion. i'm not just jumping in to support macca as we often (politely) disagree on a number of things let's just move on.....enough said already2 points

I watched the Geelong v MFCC game at Geelong we won in 2015(?) the other night. It was terrific but it reminded me of why I was so bullish about Dom, he was very good. Gus played a fantastic game as well and it was easy to forget how good he was when he couldn't really play for a couple of years. But watching that game showed that last year was just what you'd expect. Vince and Jones carried the midfield and Viney played a tagging role on Selwood. Gawn of course had his break out game. But Dom can play and I'd not be surprised if he has a good year now that he's back where he plays his best footy.2 points

The main forum is called Melbourne Demons isn’t it? Is the women’s team not the Melbourne Demons?2 points

I can quite the post and it works with all links intact. See here ... I just have to figure out how to copy and paste the AFL, NRL, SuperRugby & MLB. No rest for fhe wicked Wadda ?2 points

For me it should be a 'one cub' , / 'one Denonland' mentality. We put the Casey chat on the main board and let it run it's course, so why not the same of the women's side. As Trisul suggests, if it doesn't get responded to it just gets pushed down the list - let the people have their say (as they say).. Personally, I haven't been all that enthused by the AFLW this year so far, but that could quickly change. I have recorded the Pies game and any time we beat those filth it is worth watching. Actually looking forward to seeing some improvement from some of those we have like Cunningham, O'Dea & Mithen. Asides from that and although the standard leaves something to be desired at times, due to the rapid growth of the competition, what a privilege to be watching (and talking about) these pioneering years of the women's game. There are some here on Demonland that remember the glory days and last premiership(s) of the great MFC, but there isn't anyone who remembers the birth of the club/team it's self - that is the opertunity we have with the women's team at present.2 points

The links don't copy & paste so I'll have to quote the list instead. The early MLB games listed are warm-up/practice games and the AFL link for the scheduled games might be configured differently down the track.2 points

Yep great work. Im not sure if youve seen it, but if you type for example Italia Serie A into google search engine you get this table with a green header at the top of the search page results which gives you the previous match results and upcoming games as well as ladder positions and news for any given league. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=italia+serie+a2 points

Any updates Saty? For the small minority of posters who seem to take exception at your opinions, there are a lot more mostly silent readers who really appreciate the training updates you provide and don't take exception to your views.2 points

I encourage everyone to click on it as many times as possible. They can pollute our screens for free, but as soon as anyone clicks on it they pay money. I’m sure we can ensure they make a loss in 20192 points

In this enlightened day and age, where “inclusion” and racial tolerance is supposed to be the norm, why is the AFL engineering a competition where one team is solely based on race and none of the other teams are? Either all teams are based on ethnic background, or none are. How do the AFL expect to cut out racial taunts from spectators at games, when it’s the AFL who are promoting race as a point of difference with idiotic competitions like this? Just another example of how poorly run and how out of touch our AFL leaders are.2 points

Hi I can understand the need and place for separate forums but I would like to suggest that the AFLW forum be merged with the main board. This is not to suggest that they do not deserve their own place but until the competition grows in recognition it would be great if we could increase its exposure on the main board. Would also give the excellent posters on the AFLW some greater exposure. Cheers from Malda in West Bengal where AFLW is on everyone's lips !!1 point

My suggestion above to put the 'AFLW: Rd x vs xxx' (ie the game day) thread on the main board for a week (then it moves to the AFLW board when the next round thread goes on the main board) would mean we wouldn't need the same thread on two boards. After a while people would get used to seeing the current Round thread on the main board and know to go to the AFLW board for older threads.1 point

Yeah righto i will give it a try.... Who was the runner/s pacing our players at training? Did you get to ask their opinion on our teams running power,? What did the players think of having a pace-setter? What has been the group feedback about the way we lost the Prelim? Are we more confident going into this year after that horrendous finish? If we could raise the money through donations (i am willing to kick in), would you buy a camera like 666 has? Your current camera is seriously rubbish. Thanks in advance1 point

I have been to 4 or 5 sessions this year I think and noted the high numbers in rehab but the rehab work has been pretty solid for the most part. Plenty of running of course and heaps of drills with the balls. The only players that have been limited in their preparation to the point it will impact on round 1 availability are Jones (laps, boxing only for many sessions) and Lever, laps and more laps and perhaps Baker (laps, more laps). As I mentioned in yesterday’s training thread, I spoke to Justin Plapp who was really unbeat about the rehab group and that players were now coming back to full training regimes from a solid base of work that they have all been doing.1 point

I attended my first training session for the year yesterday and whilst it wasn't really a proper training session I did notice that there are two posts positioned about 18 inches inside the normal goal posts providing an even smaller target to kick a goal. I'd imagine it's to sharpen our goal kicking. On Hibberd I read in the paper that he thought he'd done his hammy on Saturday but scans had cleared him. I imagine that's why he's on restricted duties. Having spoken to a couple of people yesterday my impression was that all bar Lever are expected to be fit and available for R1 based on their current injury status. Good news1 point

Notice any discernible difference between training levels/keenness at this time last year and 2019? please....1 point

I found two of my photos unattributed on another forum, hence my post, Internet etiquette I don't need the attention Ethan, I just find a small group of posters on here insufferable blowhards, it's not me, as you can see, who starts this, on this occasion using a lack of comprehension the reason to launch Anyway back on topic, it was a lovely sunny morning at Goschs, I wish Even with the atrocious weather, it was a really good solid session, with lots of emphasis on ball movement in the drills On the rehab side it was just Tim Smith, Melksham and Lever, with Hibberd, Jetta, Baker and Viney doing a couple things in rehab as well, but also some main group drills Jones and KK were inside, don't blame them Lever was kicking and jumping at the ball, so progressing nice Session finshed with a very willing tackling session, we have a specialist coach for this as well now1 point

The four AFLX 2019 captains will build their superhero teams via a nationally broadcast Draft on Wednesday February 6. The Draft will be on 7Mate, Fox Footy, AFL.com.au & AFL Live App from 7pm AEDT. Fair dinkum unbelievable. I call this the “reverse draft” because I’ll be watching it hoping that we don’t have any players picked.1 point

AFLX is not necessarily a positive change ... it is more so a completely different version of footy targeting a completely different type of audience. The new names for the teams may or may not be part of that potential appeal. Again, you and I aren't the target audience so we really don't count nor do we matter. AFLX is being structured for a different demographic. And t20 cricket is not going anywhere ... India and it's hundreds of millions of people will drive the success of t20 much like the Americans drive the support of baseball & the NFL. Those underestimating India do so at their peril. The money generated from India is enormous. We pale into insignificance by comparison. The Big Bash could completely fall over (and it won't) and t20 would still flourish & thrive from a world-wide perspective. Australia plays a very small part. But in relation to most sports in Australia, the Big Bash still gets a very big audience both at the venues and on TV. The A League, NBL, ARL & Super Rugby, ABL, Sheffield Shield and a few other sports would love to have the 60 free-to-air prime-time slots that the Big Bash occupies. It's not really my cup of tea but again, that matters not. CA doesn't need my eyes nor my attention.1 point
