  1. If it helps to get Hibberd to Melbourne, I'd support Demonland trading Olisik to Bomberblitz.

  2. So, when does Wines announce that he wants to be traded to Hawthorn or Geelong?

  3. If anyone is feeling slightly cynical and jaded with trade week then pop over to the MFC site and check out the Elise O'Dea interview. If there is a happier person on this planet at the moment I would be surprised. Just wants to play football, just wants to play for Melbourne, can't wipe the smile from her face. Love to see footy bringing such unadulterated joy.

  4. As a side note - it's once again impressive that the club didn't leak this as it was occurring. Lewis approached us, we did all the right things, and it wasn't until the Hawks back flipped on it that it all comes to light.

  5. Didn't you complain about this last year only to backflip when we got picks 4 and 7 in the draft?

  6. Tyson is great. Viney is great. End of discussion

  7. Podcast on Lewis up now on Twitter https://twitter.com/traderadio Disgruntled- not a happy man He thought he was going to be captain, but doesn't think he is going to be there next year Clarkson and Lewis' end of season discussion was really bad (apparently), left angry from it Pickering (manager) has gone straight to Melbourne (Lewis' choice) MFC saying they were approached by Lewis' management Melbourne seem happy to take Lewis if Hawthorn Agree Hawthorn in damage control and dont want to lose him.

  8. By the sounds of the Lewis rumour he approached us not the other way. Based on this I have faith in Mahoney and co that we will not overtrade for a 30 year old regardless of how good he is. We seriously lack mature leadership and to gain Lewis for two years without giving much up would do wonders for the development of Brayshaw, Oliver, Trac and co.

  9. Who is this Wines bloke? Any been tracking him since he started at Port?

  10. You all doubted equalisation, it's working. Hawks bring in some young guns, and sprinkle their premiership pensioners around the league... On a serious note, I hope it's true. Too much is up to Viney and Jones. Tyson is inconsistent. Adding Lewis shares the load and allows the kids more time to develop properly rather than be relied upon too early. I doubt it'll happen, but it'll be nice if it does.

  11. He probably wont look slow with when he feeds it off quickly to Jayden Hunt burning past him.

  12. This could sound silly, but even though he is a 4 x premiership player, he will be 31 at start of season and is obviously slowing down. Saw players running away from him with the ball and he could only jog after them. I am not a fan of recruiting 31 year old players who are slowing down and are no chance of being there for our tilt at a flag. He has 1 maybe 2 years left. Lewis a big no for me.

  13. I am astounded (albeit not surprised) that there are Demonlanders who are turning their noses up at a 40+ posession getter who kicks goals. When was the last time a Demon got that many posessions? (Note* In a team who managed 3 wins for an entire season) All because of "Attitude"??? We have all worked in a toxic working environment which we hated...It is pretty hard to be positive and happy when you are put in that situation. And when we moved on from that bad working environment we improved our attitudes and our workflow and life flourished. I can only speak from personal experience.

  14. I've always thought Wines would leave Port. Whether it happens this off season or not, it just feels inevitable for some reason. If he did come to Melbourne, how's this for a chain of events: - Port supporters gloat about Wines over Toumpas - Port supporters talk up their chances of luring Viney - Port supporters boast about "de-Melbourning" Toumpas after picking him up - Viney re-signs with Melbourne - Toumpas fails and gets delisted (likely) - Wines leaves Port to join Viney at Melbourne Mm. Tasty.

  15. He did alright last year when he netted us pick 3 and 7 and got us two extremely good young players that will both be huge for the club going forward, reckon you didn't predict that one so maybe you should hold your uninformed comments until you actually see how things pan out. for the record it would be 100% fine if the only deal done was the Hibberd one, much better than recruiting some NQR's just for the sake of feeling a part of it.

  16. Do you honestly believe that crap, or is it just another typical Olisik post ?

  17. Not sure why posters assume we're doing nothing this trade period simply because they haven't 'heard' anything from SEN or bigfooty. How about just wait until the end of next week. I'm sure we'll pull a rabbit out of the hat and it won't be the Hibberd trade.

  20. I am a renowned bull shi tter. This I admit. However, I have just scanned through parts of this thread. FMD!!! Guessing, speculation, assertion, claims to inside knowledge, reliable sauces, chook raffles - it's all here - the drama of life unfolding before my very (bloodshot) eyes. Aint demonland grand?

  21. Theres still a whole week of trades left. Who knows what surprises are in store, we have already had two very good players (Lewis and Hibberd) try and get to us. And I wouldnt rule Lewis coming to the MFC out just yet.

  23. Jordan Lewis approaches us? 2nd in the Hawks best & fairest, out of all the clubs, chooses us as his desired destination? Huh. If only someone A-Grade like Koby Stevens would...

  24. Headline: Hawthorn in Damage Control! Hate to gloat but gee it is sweet to see that club with egg on its face!

  25. A few people, you in particular if I recall, got into Mahons last year only for him to come out looking pretty sharp at his job by the end of it. You're comments here suggest the sharpness of a pancake.

  26. I'd bring in Lewis for a reasonable deal/price. Sure a team with all 3 of hodge, lewis and mitchell might havee looked slow against the dogs but theyre all good players. Stevie J and others looked cooked at their old club but look fresh surrounded by youth. Price would have to be right but id be open to it

  27. That was an exciting 60 minutes for us! Now we can go back to patiently waiting.

  28. Brayshaw and Salem are the future of this club. As much as I rate Wines, nein danke. ANB plus next year's first rounder would have to have some currency. Unlike some here, I reckon ANB will be a real goer in the next few years.

  29. Rawlings and McCartney have coached their own AFL sides. Matthews, McPherson and Jennings have been around the block, as has Egan. Viney and Mahoney aren't far away from things either. There's always room for excellent football people at the club.

  31. Didn't say it WOULD happen - we made an enquiry, and fell short during the season. Hawthorn offered more and are a very successful club (people forgetting they were a kick away from a Prelim). Mark my words, we are certainly looking to bring in a big fish over the next year or two. Re Tippett: i don't think it will happen because of $$$ and giving Sydney something reasonable (as stated when i posted 10 mins ago). I'm simply passing on what i've heard. Just because we're interested or we've asked a club doesn't mean we are getting said player. Some people on here need to calm down, and understand that clubs put together packages/proposals regularly...and that there are 18 clubs in the competition the last I checked

  32. At the very worst, this whole Mitchell and Lewis business shows that Hawthorn may well be all over the place next season. That's still a good result IMO.

  34. Lewis is younger than I thought. Will be 30 years old at round 1, 2017. Averaged 25 possies in 2016, including a 42 possession game, with 5 clearances, 4 tackles per game. Came 2nd in the Hawks B and F. And on top of that has a truckload of finals and premiership experience. Get him.

  35. Quite possibly. Something is amiss there. Plus this could well be the reason why the Hibberd deal is taking a little more time. Seems like we have other irons in the fire.

  36. Wasnt referring to that game which of course wasn't a dead rubber as we were still alive and the Hawks were playing finals..... I was referring to games in the last round of the season for us which have always been dead rubbers the last decade.. where a lot of fans say the games are meaningless, which I dont agree with. Every game matters.

  37. That game kept our finals chances alive until we blew it, not a dead rubber.

  38. A destination club at last!! I would imagine a number of Hawk players would be feeling less secure knowing the 'encouragement' Clarko gave Mitchell to go to WCE and starting to look elsewhere!

  39. And here we go.... Hawthorn star Jordan Lewis’ management approached Melbourne in shock trade talks "Lewis has spoken to the Demons including coach Simon Goodwin. The move has not been ruled out but it appears that Hawthorn is less keen to move Lewis given the upcoming departure of Mitchell. Lewis chose Melbourne himself and is understood to view the club’s list and potential favourably."

  40. A shocker during the season, and you're even worse off it. Seriously, that takes some sort of talent.

  43. Here's another nice little sideline. WADA rules also require that any games played whilst effectively under a "provisional suspension" do not count. As the WADA ban was backdated to the start of 2015 (effectively giving the players a 12 month "discount"), all games played in 2015 will now no longer be included in players' games tally, which means, the cheating sniper Dustbin Fletcher goes under 400 games played!

  44. The media seems to be running the line 'poor Collingwood' as the comp picks the AFL have given out make it harder for Coll to get its father/son picks (Brown and Daicos) as those comp picks have reduced the draft points their picks now attract. Hello, it is the ridiculously generous offers that Collingwood gave Wells and Mayne that caused the AFL comp picks to be so high. They only have themselves to blame! Sheesh!

  45. Has there been any player more respected in recent times than Corey Enright? Honest question, I'd be interested to hear nominations. Imagine a young player who is going 'ok' but currently on the fringe, battling for a spot amongst a large group of HBF/midfielders on Melbourne's list, and questioning whether they are going to make it as an AFL player. Once a week Corey Enright, the triple-premiership player Geelong rated above Ablett, takes you aside for an intensive 1-1 training session and a chat about your most recent game over coffee.

  47. the afl actually asked mitchell and cotchin to make a submission re 2012 brownlow. wtf. thankfully both players declined immediately. they are simply incapable of making a clear cut decision and are more intent on finding a way to make a "deal". integrity must be a foreign word to these clowns

  48. Redleg is correct. This is not as it seems and you can listen to the interview as often as you like, Mitchell has put on a master class in politics and PR. I was told by a very recently retired Premiership player today that Sam is not only very close to Simpson but also to Hale who is at Freo so is happy to go to Perth and have some time as Asst Coach to Adam and the plan has been in place for a few months that it would happen in 2018, with next year being his final year with Hawks. Problem is that a small group of Senior Players that have played for much, much less than market value for years to keep the side together, very recently approached Clarkson to complain that several Recruits were being brought in on bigger money than what they had been getting. Sam was particularly aggrieved at rumours of $500k for Vickery, which unbelievably is more than what Sam was paid in 2016 & more than what he was going to get in 2017. Staggering that Hawthorn would pay Vickery more than Mitchell. Bottom line line is that Clarko was very Dictatorial and basically told Sam that is was happening and perhaps he might like to get over to Perth a year earlier.
