Anyone knows what's happened to rpfc? Disappeared and hasn't visited here since July 3. Old sparring partner of mine. Has been quieter of recent but has a formidable body of work of over 17,000 posts. I hope he is alright.7 points

What would Robert "Tulip" Flower think of this... No wings on The MCG???? reduce the interchange further. That is where the problem lies6 points

Not sure if this rumour is true, but, if it is, I think it makes perfect sense. I want to see us play finals next year, and we've repeatedly heard how young the side we've fielded each week has been, and how this has probably been the difference in certain games. Has to be some short term room in our list for a quality player with a lot of experience right now. Pretty confident GWS don't regret recruiting Stevie J. Hope we land him.6 points

Congratulations to all the recipients, but massive kudos to Viney. Everyone talks about the expectation placed on the no. 1 draft pick but I would argue there was almost the same amount of expectation placed on Jack and it hasn't phased him one bit. He keeps getting better and better. Jonesy is such a champ, runner up and a lot of people on here felt his season was a little diminished compared to others. Let's not forget this time last year he was preparing himself to go into neck surgery! Hasn't taken a backward step. Love the guy, so want him to be still amongst the boys when we do finally have success. No one deserves it more. I predicted Gawn to finish on top, but 3rd is still a fantastic achievement for the big man. Hopefully it leaves him hungry for more next year. Tyson had a stellar second half to the year, if he continues that next year the competition should watch out. Finally Watts, so happy for the guy. I hope his confidence continues to grow, he has now become a player that can hurt the opposition, and I love it!6 points

Discussion of Roos' speech at the B n F: http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/paul-roos-says-melbourne-united-richmond-in-disarray-in-farewell-speech/news-story/115f12006df77c0be0f041f29f1e68e8 Roos' own farewell message to the players: “Decide to be great. It is a decision, it doesn’t happen by accident,”...“You have to want to be great. And greatness is not going to happen when you turn up on November 1 or whenever you turn up and Simon has got the whistle in charge...“Greatness is going to happen when you walk out of this room tonight. That’s when greatness starts...“You have to commit to it you have to want to do it and I would love nothing more than to see Simon and Nathan holding up the premiership cup.” He has laid down the challenge: Greatness. Up to the players now. Hope they want it as badly as we do.5 points

He was great in most of the first 17 rounds. Ave 2.5 goals. Leading us for contested marks etc. I'm amazing at people's opinion of hogan and the short memories5 points

I'd keep Pedo regardless, we're only 1-2 injuries away from trouble, we still lack depth in some areas.4 points

I'd go as far as to blame him for the fact we haven't won a flag in over 50 years.4 points

Best bits for me last night Gawn's speeches McCartney getting name checked, one of the best bits of business we have done in the last couple of years Nev being recognised for more than footy The dessert Pedo schmoozing the room, arm in sling4 points

As I stated on the Thompson thread, I disagree with recruiting this type of player now. Our young players did well this year and will only get better. Rather than the Dal/Thompsons let's develop another younger player.4 points

To be fair to Jesse though Ernest, how much of the saga is due to Jesse himself and how much of it is to do with the hand-wringing of anonymous internet posters? He's done exactly as he said he would at the start of the year, waited to discuss it til the season finished.4 points

Anyone else sick of the Jesse Hogan saga? So much so that I am getting sick of Jesse himself. If he does not sign soon and dispel all the doubts I will actively dislike him. And if he leaves for more money my dislike will turn to a much stronger force. And it will not be love.4 points

Quite happy to keep the media expectations low on our young guns. We'll never know how much influence winning it last year had on Jesse, but I'd much prefer our guys being underrated by other clubs. We just need to continue going about our business and improving. The less pressure, the better at the moment.4 points

51m51 minutes ago AFL Trade News First @AFLTrade Recent reports suggest Melbourne will offer Nick Dal Santo a contract which'll see him play for one season & then become an assistant coach. I guess this means he should get his own thread. Given his great disposal and the fact he's still playing solid football and could play that Matthew Boyd type role, i have to say i'm for it. I think he suits our needs more then Scott Thompson.3 points

And the three people that voted for him all voted within an hour of the count, and one of those after the round 19 scores. Nobody backed him, really. I disagree wholly with your second paragraph though. You need to take the angry goggles off. The odd tool might pan him, but Demonlanders love Jones. The overwhelming vibe is positive. Back in agreement again with paragraph number 3.3 points

I didn't realise she has played 302 games of football! In fact I had no idea there was a raft of leagues for women's football. This is an extract of her achievements from a release on mfc website, when she was appointed: Lee has been a longstanding figure in women’s football, both on and off the field. She played 302 games in the Victorian Women’s Football League (VWFL), founded women’s football club VU Western Spurs (formerly Sunshine YCW Spurs/St Albans Spurs) and was VWFL president from 2004 until 2012. Lee actively pushed for AFL Women’s Exhibition Games at the Melbourne Football Club and has driven the club’s women’s football program since 2013. This year, she was included in the AFL Women’s Football Advisory Group, which makes recommendations for the inaugural National Women’s League. The standing ovation is richly deserved.3 points

The time has come for me to jump at shadows, which I usually don't do. Jesse just posted a photo (big grin, btw) on instagram with a couple of other players, all suited up. His hashtag was #staytuned... could Redleg's idea that it might be announced tonight be on the money? Probably not, but whatever...3 points
