Got there about half an hour into the session. Whilst i'm no seasoned track watcher you could tell it was a fairly light session. Missing or at least I never spotted them were, Roos, Vandenberg, Lumumba,Spencer, Stretch, Hulett, either King, Dunn, Weiderman, Hunt, Terlich ,White and Matt Jones. I won't go into specific drills because I'm crap at describing them and I'm sure others will do it a lot better than I. Goodwin took the session with Brett Allison also running some of the drills. Despite it being a lite session at times the intensity was first rate. Worth noting is that Jade Rawlings has it in his head that O'Mac needs toughening up. In one drill he pitted himself directly against Oscar three times and didn't hold anything back, at one stage decking Oscar with an errant elbow, much to the amusement of every one watching. Oscar took it as well as could be expected. In all three instances Rawlings beat O'Mac. Finally big brother stepped in and went one on one against Rawling and beat him comprehensively. The other thing of note was the vertical leap on both Petracca and Harmes, both these guys can jump. Not to be outdone old man Trengove got in the act and got some air and seemed mighty happy with his efforts. The boys finished the session practicing goal kicking. They seemed to be trying to bend it left to right from the left hand side pocket. Salem seemed to be the most proficient and was instructing the others on the technique, i.e. the point of the ball facing away from the goal for a right hander at the point of contact and the facing the opposite way for a left hander. The skipper thought he could nail from the outside of the ground, alas with no success. I took some happy snaps which you can access via the link. Disgusting to think that anyone could be involved with these organisations. Unfortunately, the problem doesn't seem to be going away as Richmond already have over 55,000 members.14 points

Hi, sorry I've been MIA since last year. Busy at work with not enough time. Had a spare hour between meetings in Box Hill and the City which allowed me 40 minutes at the paddock yesterday. Not many photos but enjoy ==> https://six6six.smugmug.com/Wednesday-20160309/n-PxtMMx11 points

Now that I come to think of it, I can't recall that the NT was mentioned at the season launch. Please make it happen that we get some other form of sponsorship, that the AFL gives us a better run of Friday night home games and that we never have to sell our home games interstate again.11 points

I watched training this morning. Petracca, JKH, Trenners and Joel Smith trained with the NAB Challenge squad for Sunday. The lads playing at Casey tomorrow were unsighted. Gus did multiple run throughs and looked good, albeit with a heavily bandaged knee. Dawes rode laps on Trenner's scooter. Benny Newton did a lot of hard work with Crossy. Jayden Hunt trained away from the main group on the back oval. So many times Christian was on the end of full ground ball movement drills. It looks like the club will be using him as a deep forward meaning fitness won't be such an issue. Hopefully we see him sooner rather than later.11 points

Thats exactly how I envision him kicking his first goal6 points

I thought you only had to make sure you used 2 first round picks in a 4 year span. We filled that quota last draft period alone.5 points

I'm not insane and neither am I... But I am looking forward to seeing whether he can a) ever get on the field and II) live up to the hype.4 points

Surely this is still rehabbing exercises so his "good block of training" that Misson speaks of (ad nauseum I might add) will be a certain period of time post rehab. They won't rush him, even though he appears to be quite literally coming along in leaps and bounds.4 points

I like it too.......But not for $500 bucks My car isn't worth that.4 points

Of course the Saints are interested. They seem to throw their name into the ring for every single player that's rumoured to be available.4 points

Saw him many times and he and his band the Foster Brothers / Baxter Funt were one of the tightest & best live bands I've ever seen & heard. He was a terrific entertainer with a great sense of humour. RIP It been a shite week4 points

Warms the heart to see number 9 out there looking fit. Gee I hope he can play 5+ seasons and show us what he can do4 points

I'll be tying the knot midway through the first quarter. I expect someone to kick goal of the year to celebrate....4 points

Maybe it's me but strangely I'm a little underwhelmed as such. If he comes and fit. Good. If not..we move on. We've got a bit of talent to work with now. Don't need 'silver bullet' players any more. Really not that fussed.3 points

Yes, it revealed that he sat up and was awake for a "couple of hours". Encouraging.3 points

The NT News is easily the worst tabloid in Australia. The actual quotes did not reflect the severity of the headline. NT politics is also an absolute circus so I wouldn't be surprised if this is just Giles trying to get more money out of the AFL.3 points

Watched training for an hour this morning. The NAB challenge squad were joined by Petracca, Trengove, JKH and Joel Smith. Gus Brayshaw clocked up a few km's on the sidelines and moved well with a heavily strapped knee. Dawesy was on the scooter and Ben Newton did a lot of work with crossy. The focus was on ball movement and Benny Matthews barked a lot of instructions at the boys, with the emphasis being on taking care of the ball. Jesse Hogan didn't do the whole session. Not sure why as he moved very well. Based on how they set up today look for Oscar McDonald to fill Dunn's role this week and Wagner to take Jayden Hunt's spot, as Jayden trained separately from the main group on the back oval. Jayden was the one player not at the Season Launch. Is anyone aware of something going on with him? The lads playing at Casey tomorrow were not sighted.3 points

As with everything in the AFL, they have yet to actually clarify this point, have left it as ambiguous as possible to be able to make a call one way or the other depending one what suits them at the time and will no doubt make a last minute decision which will screw us out of being able to trade out a future pick after having done so last year.3 points

That's interesting OD, I do not find them depressing but rather I find readers reaction very much imitates their own mood state. If you want to read something a little lighter then I recommend my 1926 work The Sun Also Rises, later published in England as Fiesta, a title that I did not like. If you do not like that one, then find another author as I am not your man. Remember when reading my work, it's not what I have written but what lies beneath. The words are just the tip of the iceberg so to speak, and that two thirds lie beneath the surface. So perhaps OD you need to tackle your own demons! However I can recommend a good rum if you wish.3 points

This may come as a shock Ernest but I have not read all of your books as they are so depressing I have stopped trying. The MFC of the last 50 years has provided me with all the depression I can handle. Can you make a come back and write something cheerful?3 points

Article in The Age talks about strong interest from Hawks and Saints. If the Hawks land another high profile trade the rest of the comp might as well pack up.3 points

I woulsnt have any issue with TB4 use if it wasn't banned. What you have yet to explain is how you decide what is a PED and what isn't, that is where the Sandilands commentcomes in. A better diet will boost your performance, why would you not count that, where is that line. My stance is that you let WADA draw that line, otherwise you condemn people for playing within the rules. I also fail to see how using something that is within the rules is unfair, can you explain how it is? I come from a background of family involvement in two very technical sports where engineer design plays a big part. Engineers are employed to push the rules to edge to find any little advantage that is within the rules. This is no different. If you follow F1 did you have an issue with Red Bull having the double diffuser? It was legal, anyone could have done it but they didnt think of it, and it gave Red Bull a clear advantage?3 points

Can we not just celebrate the Leadership team for what it is and let it evolve? Why continue to despair about history and all of the mistakes which 'in hindsight' are so clearly comprehendable? Is Viney too young? Will the same fate befall him and with the weight of expectation of being a 'leader' he'll fail? No, because he's a fecking unit who lets his footy do the talking. Grimes is not that and probably never will be but for crying out loud, who else during that period was even capable? We didn't have what we have now so saying it was a bad decision by the CEO, FD etc at the time is completely ignoring relativity to time, place and circumstance.3 points

Could we please go easy on New Zealanders and strange beards? Show some respect for one our newest leadership group members. Thank you.3 points

You're starting to sound like me OD. You're still a little conservative though. I'm going 37 points. Maybe more, but I'm trying to keep a lid on things. Living in China is more frustrating than following the Dees. Didn't think that was possible but you live and learn. The country has a set of very strange mechanisms for making things happen and nothing can be done immediately. Everything takes "...one or two days, but maybe longer". However, I can get the AFL global pass so I can watch every game live in gloriously slow streaming. The internet here is variable between non-existent - stunningly pathetic. Ah well, as we say over here,"It's China!" GO DEES!3 points

It's actually outrageous when you think about the access to top end talent our club has had*: Petracca: Pick 2 Oliver: Pick 4 Brayshaw: Pick 3 Viney: could easily have gone first round. Salem: Pick 9 Tyson: Pick 3 These guys will make a formidable group in two to three years time. Keep them all together, on the park and they will take us close to the ultimate. Big call, but these guys all have elite traits that compliment each other. I think we might just be seeing the formation of something special. Oh and the cherry on top at the end of this year? Dion Prestia. * It has certainly needed it though.3 points

There'll be none of that ragdolling nonsense under the new tackling regime. Parish will be lifted slightly, shaken gently until the ball is dislodged or disposed of and then returned just as gently to the ground.3 points

Sms just received: "It is seriously exciting to see Petracca training". Looking forward to reading the training report thread later on.3 points
