I really like that they have involved Daisy Pearce in this and are getting her name more and more out there. She is a great ambassador for the club and also for women's football. It makes me proud to follow the club that has put so much time and effort into growing the game and getting more women involved.17 points

we want daisy and Jesse spending as much time together as possible haha11 points

We really are a negative lot. That logo is modern yet recognises our tradition. It's bold. This rebrand day is all we have been banging on about here for years, a presence in the city! We are out there getting noticed in our town. My social media blew up this morning from non dees getting coffee on the way to work. Lose the negativity and embrace it fools10 points

I love it. Love the logo, love the clever gorilla marketing, love that we are doing something fun and modern and different Absolutely brilliant!10 points

The Hulk put out this tweet earlier: Anyone up for a kick in the park tomorrow? Thinking Yarra Park at 5.30. @jackviney7 surely you’re in? Viney responded: I'm keen! Would be great to get some more numbers there. Come down and get around it. See you then big fella Tons of supporters/followers are getting on board. Doesn't seem official, but either way it's a good idea from our players to build a bit of excitement around the club. Or maybe it was the clubs idea and got the players to orchestrate it on social media... https://twitter.com/jesseBhogan/status/664365971738529792 https://twitter.com/jackviney7/status/6643773828710236169 points

I like the simplicity of the logo. It's the sort of thing that you could give to a tourist that won't make them look like a tool. The campaign to release the rebranding is also good, because we're letting people hear about it from different places. It's more organic and gets people talking about what's happening, rather than just telling it at them by putting up a press release and a staged photoshoot on the website plus 30 seconds on the 6pm news. And Daisy ......... she is absolute gold for this club.9 points

I don't understand why we always have red merchandise, blue merchandise with red would look far better.9 points

Well done Melbourne Tbh I didnt mind the 'complex' logo but really like the new one. Im impressed with the cleverness of the 'stealth' roll out , the engaging of the town , the connect to the people. Kudos.9 points

Each to their own I guess but the old logo was not a logo, a logo is supposed to give you some immediate recognition. The old one was trying to do and be too many things. Love the new one...simply the Melbourne Football Club, leave the other stuff to be recognised by statues and history books.7 points

The "winning games" argument is fine but we can walk and chew gum at the same time.7 points

Well I think it was great. at least we got some coverage on all news services. although poor Jesse im starting to feel sorry for him being asked about his contract. As he said I still have 2 years. But on another note can I just say how tough our captain is. He has a scar on his neck from surgery and cant get any contact for a few months. Obviously he played with a serious nerve injury and toughed his way through the season. Others would have stopped. Some would say he may have been a bit silly because neck injuries are something that shouldn't be messed with, but you know he loves this club and wants to be out there very single week.6 points

The [censored] are you on about? The response has been far more positive than negative.6 points

Daisy is one of the greatest assets this club has, she plays great football, is a great leader, has a passion for the club, can speak well in public, and is easy on the eye. The power of that combination in bringing in sponsors and new supporters, especially those of the fairer sex, is immense. Great to see the club involving her in the marketing and putting her side by side with the mens captain. Makes me proud to be a Dee with the initiative and passion we have shown for the womens game!6 points

New logo is great.,. I love that shade of blue I still shudder at some of the kinds of blue we have used in the past6 points

Great to see Daisy with Jonsey on the promo. Our two captains! Daisy is a great role model and someone to aspire to for the little 'aussie kick' girls ...might make them little Demons (and convert parents and siblings)5 points

Genuinely haven't been this excited about our club for a long time. Great young list, good coaching structure, sensational CEO, making a profit, nailing our marketing and branding and winning more games!5 points

I'm a cynic now. Don't care. Win games. Any logo will do if you win games.5 points

I like the new MFC, smart, making a profit, great young players. Go Dees5 points

don't forget that, yes, we get afl support, but that support is explicitly rationalised by the acknowledgement that we get shafted in the fixture, which costs us money. Completely justified5 points

Our club owned this city today. Awesome job. Let's hope they own the city from now on. It's our town. Well done Dees.4 points

that's what i want Paul. It is quite weird the fact that so many on here want Roosy to walk out the side door quietly after Round 23 next year!!I want Roosy to hand over the Baton in front of at least 85,000 people in September....4 points

I don't like it. Kinda boring and I'm not sure how they would come up with that shape, looks like a bellend. But I'm sure it'll grow on me when it stops rubbing me the wrong way...4 points

I hope we get two of Parish, Oliver or Francis. They may not have the upside of Weideman or Curnow, but they all look reasonably safe selections and the draft is too much of a gamble. My rationale: • Rating how key position players will transition from junior football to the AFL is particularly difficult. • Inside midfielders are now much more important than key forwards in AFL footy given the congestion. • Midfielders have a more immediate impact, which is now more important given the introduction of free agency. • We can build a forward line around Hogan and recruit a key forward (if we need it) down the track when we are in contention. • I would play Tom McDonald forward next year to exploit his running capacity.4 points

the shape of the badge looks like an acorn .. I think they could've done better with that part.4 points

For a top 10 pick and where our club is at with it's list, I want a surer bet than Curnow. I disagree on his football smarts and draft profiles I've read also seem to think it's a weakness. You've named contested marking as his strength. The ability to 'move well' as a tall forward in the AFL these days is almost a prerequisite. His pace isn't great either, I'm not sure why you say otherwise. The sample size over his last two years is not big enough for us to justify taking him at 7 let alone 3 in my view. Again, he is a bundle of 'potential' at under 18 level and whilst I understand recruiters are looking at these guys with an image of what they'll become a few years down the track once at an AFL club, I can't see the MFC in it's current state taking him. We'll see what happens. Wouldn't be surprised if he went at 10 or later though.4 points

I hated the old logo. It's with profound relief that I view this one. Looks good. Less is more when it comes to logos - something Schwab seemed not to understand.4 points

the fact that we are in the black at all should be a cause for congratulations and pride no flag for 51 years no finals for 9 years very survival in question at several points in the last 20 continual shafting of fixturing and underfunded footy department, you name it, we get the short end that is some serious 'overcoming the odds' stuff a few good years up and about (which we seem a good chance of achieving with our current on and off field personnel) and we might see the sleeping giant start to wake up I just hope my old man is still around to see it4 points

I guess the term 'natural' footballer may differ slightly depending on who you speak to. I'm talking football specific skills like kicking, handballing, ball-handling, tackling, competing as well as possessing footballing smarts which also encompasses a number of other elements that are learnt from playing from a young age. I don't want to hear the words 'he's still raw' or 'he has the potential to be'. To me they are words that are linked to players who are not 'natural' footballers but players who possess some freakish ability, a couple of elite traits, (in this case running capacity for his height and size and contested marking) but other than that a whole lot of 'potential'. If you flick to 45:55 of this video, you'll see how awkward he looks hand-balling on his left hand, picking the ball up off the deck and doing the kicking test. It's not that I'm basing my opinion on him from these few seconds, but it does back up the knocks on him that I have read from draft profiles. His weakness's are field kicking, ball-handling below his knees, speed off the mark and footy smarts. For someone who is meant to be a versatile tall who could be 'anything', they're not the kind of attributes you want to be struggling in. Compare that to Francis. Francis is a natural footballer. He executes every fundamental football specific skill to a very high standard and is a very competitive player. Athletically, he's not as gifted. But there are no question marks with his footballing ability. Just like there weren't with Brayshaw. Now if Curnow was a key forward and had been playing that position and dominating over the last few years it'd be a very different story. But he's not. He's a midfielder turned forward because of a growth spurt and hasn't dominated either position. The MFC can't slip up with another high draft pick. They can't afford to. We still need players who will help build the fabric of the club and in my opinion Curnow is not that player. We need footballers. Not potential footballers.4 points

yes the MFC gets 'first rights' should he not get picked up this draft year, and if he elects to nominate for f/s bidding next year.3 points

I wouldn't be too shocked if we went for two mids, Parish and Oliver/Mathieson/etc. We all know Roos doesn't much like drafting talls, and the club could easily believe that some combination of Dawes/Pederson/Frost/TMac/King can do a serviceable enough job for another year or two, until our magnificent midfield has hot young tall forwards begging to be traded to us, at which point we can take our pick. ;-)3 points

Not sure why people were comparing Oliver to Jordie Mckenzie. Oliver got a perfect score in the combine kickig test while Jordie shanks goals from the goal square. If we take a speculative forward like Curnow or Weideman over a sure thing like Oliver we will regret it. TMac can play Hogans forward buddy better then any young draftee, he has played on the best forwards in the game to learn and has a huge tank with good hands. We can take talls with our later picks, if teams burn through picks on academy players our pick 46 could fall as far as 34. Would be some decent talls to slip to that pick anyway.3 points
