I'd like to think that our list management team can achieve a much better outcome than that.11 points

Best wishes to them all. They have at least played AFL football, a feat that most never achieve. To even make it onto an AFL list you have to be a very good footballer. To be a regular in an AFL side you need to be a great footballer. To be a star you need to be....well a star!. The fact is that very few blokes make it as far as these 4. They should be proud of their efforts and congratulated. It is not a time to bag players. They have done their best. Some are unlucky. Some for reason of ability, attitude or coaching decisions do not make it. However, they can always say they played in the big time. Not many can say that.10 points

So Geelong are fresh off three flags, and now they will likely land a top 5 player without giving up anything in return Welcome to the new AFL, where equalization does not exist and the rich get richer like never before7 points

I'm sorry, but whoever is responsible for Terlich's multi-year deal should use their own salary to pay him out. One of the most inexplicably shizen decisions in the last 5 years.6 points

I'm surprised they even have a record of his contract6 points

He's not that lightly built, and doesn't need to build himself up other than will naturally occur with work and maturity. He's not a heavy player, he's never going to be, nor does he need to be. It's an ignorant and redundant criticism. He has football brains in abundance, and all the necessary traits to be a great long term player. Very competitive, very good decision maker, and excellent user. Very excited about Billy's future.5 points

Whilst inevitable, I do feel for both Fitzy who has really battled for his career and Mc Kenzie who has always struck me a a terrific clubman. Never nice to see someone lose their job and I wish the best to all of them.5 points

Your maths... 6 deletions from the PL. If you lose 6 apples and gain 2 apples, how many apples will you go and get from the cart to end up with the same amount of apples? 4 more apples! Plus at least 2 rookie apples...4 points

Way back on the evening of Saturday 19 September 1964 as I watched the replay of the game and a filmed adaptation of Alan Hopgood's "And the Big Men Fly", eating chips and potato cakes (I think I was in heaven), I thought it was never going to end. Now, 18,627 days later, I'm wondering if it will ever start again!4 points

They have no right to have a fit. It's exactly how the system they helped create was designed to work. Gives clubs a chance to keep or get better compensated for their best players. I think Adelaide should definitely match the offer.3 points

The CB minimum senior player payments for 2016 are: - base pay $83,240 and match payments $3,605 per match - for 22 games = $162,550 pa. This will be a lot higher under the 2017 CB. How much more each player gets depends on experience, performance and perhaps incentives. Melksham is 24 with 6 years experience, played 114 games and has a good B & F record. Mahoney and Viney will make sure a WADA suspension is covered in the contract. In fact, I would expect the AFL has specific clauses included in all Ess player contracts who have changed clubs. I am happy Goodwin and Macca will make a good selection decision based on list requirements. I am happy that Taylor and Viney will make a fair trade with EFC. I am happy that Mahoney and Viney will negotiate a fair contract that is in sync with other MFC/AFL players of similar age/experience. Nothing to worry about folks!3 points

Wada, just, WADA I hate to see the bummers get any value from players who are about to be banned. They will be laughing their heads off with this trade. The delaying tactics, and stupidity from opposition recruiters, has really worked well for the cheating filth. *If by some chance they are found not guilty, I think he will be a handy player for us. Looks like we really are trying to rid ourselves of a soft underbelly, by bringing in competitors. Hope it works better for us, than it does for essedun.3 points

This has to be a joke, 2nd rounder and 4 years for this watermelon when someone of his calibre could surely be found lurking in a Lower level (Vanders for example), whose call is this? The ASADA thing too, this is so so dumb! Just when you thought things were turning around3 points

The reason Adelaide would match the offer would be to receive better compensation from Geelong than they would from the AFL if they simply let him walk. If they didn't match, the highest compensation pick they could possibly get would be 13th, and that's assuming no priority picks to Brisbane or Carlton, as well as no top band compensation for any clubs below them on the ladder. It's much more likely that they would receive a pick ~16th for him, which is far less than they would be able to get if they trade for him. I'm certain that Geelong will part with their first round pick (higher than 16) for Danger, and it's possible that the Crows may be able to get even more out of them. End scenario: Danger reaches the Cats; Adelaide receives a better deal from Cats than they would by accepting the AFL's free agency compensation.3 points

Not sure why everyone is so keen to see off Matt Jones. You don't have 40 stars on your list, and he's a handy solid utility type who can come in and be ok when we have injuries etc. Should only be playing 4-5 games a year as opposed to 9-10 though. Plus, he's not going to be on huge money.3 points

Sometimes I wonder what supporters watch in a game of footy. Walker had minimal supply all night. Barely any opportunities one-on-one. And Frawley was not his opponent the whole night. Clarkson's response was bang on the money. Hawthorn's pressure on the ball carrier didn't allow Walker anything. To say Frawley had a great game is honestly hilarious. Sure he made two or three elementary Backman spoils. When he has the ball in his hands, he stands out like a sore thumb in that Hawthorn team. Decision making is awful. Is just a dumb footy player plain and simple. Some of the posts are truly embarrassing on this thread.3 points

Danger will obviously be a huge boost to any club, but I don't think his acquisition is going to prevent a Cats slide. We are still yet to see how they handle the ar$e falling out of their list and relying on largely youngsters, most of whom i wouldn't rate anywhere near as promising as ours.3 points
-
Interesting that Clarkson didn't give Frawley so much credit. When asked about Frawley's 'great job on Tex', Clarkson said...well, our plan was for our mids to cut off supply to Tex and other forwards and that is how it panned out...or something like that. Frawley still has some way to go, I suggest to have the confidence of his coach!3 points

How many Frawley threads do we need? Zero. Commenting on his game within the Finals thread is sufficient. He is a Hawks player. It's embarrassing seeing these threads pop up to monitor his progress like a scorned lover. It's Scully all over again. Even when we've made out like bandits in BOTH scenarios, Many of our supporters seem to struggle in getting the [censored] over things. Time to start thinking like winners. Winners aren't constantly looking over their shoulder. /rant3 points

I like that he replies but sheesh, he must be wishing he had a pseudonym account right now. Something like [email protected] would do the trick.3 points

I think Roosy and PJ opened the door on this one, RE: members/supporters emailing them. In a multi-million dollar organisation, I find it staggering that they take the time to respond to these emails personally. Initially, I thought it was amazing supporter engagement, then I realised it'd go down hill pretty quickly and a couple of weeks ago it blew up in Roosy's face. Don't read the bloody emails. Just stop. Anyway... Jake Melksham.3 points

So - 2 retired, 4 delisted, Van Demon and Chomps certain upgrades - leaves 4 spots. I don't think White will be upgraded immediately, but Terlich may be paid out, Matt J probably won't. Five spots plus a couple of rookies. It's reputedly not a deep draft, so I think a couple of picks will be included in trade deals. An active trade period for the Dees.3 points

I seem to remember that Garlett's request to be traded to Melbourne took most by surprise last year. I'm trying to take all rumours with a grain of salt and looking forward to seeing what the football department surprises us with in the next few weeks.2 points

Why do we have a thread on every out of contract spud advocating that we should make a play for them? It's getting ridiculous.2 points

Clearly, by the look on his face after the final siren, Danger is gone. Let's live in hope and possibly even delusion, by thinking he's on his way to the Dee's.2 points

The info about Melksham's contract was probably leaked to the media by Melksham's agent. It doesn't even mean it's been verbally agreed upon, it could just have been the asking price at the start of the conversation. "We discussed a 4 year $400k contract." Probably doesn't mention the part where Melbourne responded with "f**k that!"2 points

You are suggesting we trade a former Captain and regular in our 22, for a bloke who can't get a game with his club.2 points
-
Roos is pure class. Can't believe people are emailing him over a trade that hasn't even happened yet. Although I'm not sold on Melksham, if we get him for a reasonable deal (3rd round pick, maybe an exchange with Howe) then I don't see any problems with it. With guys like Trengove, Petracca, Frost and Kent (plus hopefully a Prestia) pushing for selection next year Melksham way not even be in our best 22. With Melksham, we are trading for depth, not starting 22 players.2 points

I wish Roosy just emailed back and said STFU and lets us do our job. Fair dinkum people emailing the coach about who to pick and not to pick is downright stupid and pathetic.2 points

Matt Jones shows more than those blokes. Although i thought there might have been hope for Riley.2 points

I think probably the biggest problem with Harry...is the rest of the team What I mean by this is we havent got to the point yet where we really play and run hard forward with BELIEF.....not yet. When we do , and it might start to happen next season as we've seen glimpses , then a player like Lumumba will come into his own. When he strikes out there WILL be options. Often he does and there are none..and then he gets dacked !! We havent quite caught up with harry..not just yet2 points

When Melbourne played Hawthorn earlier this season, we were never in it. I didn't get a chance to let out a yelp about our performance it was so bad. One thing I did say was... "I'm glad someone else is over paying you now Frawley" All the Hawk fans laughed. I wonder if they are still laughing now??2 points
