  5. Mate, with all due respect, Ash has been a member of Demonland since you were about 2 years old. He's a good poster and has well and truly earned the right to defend his team on this forum.

  6. Yeah they just traded a pick #2 from a couple of years ago for #19, how can they ask for 23 for Frost.

  7. Steady on Fifty-5, we got what the rules stipulated. We also didn't for the 2nd year in a row get a PP despite the rules. This if it happens, is a new rule, made out of time, on the run, to benefit a few and leading to chaos and at the least, draft tampering.

  15. Our second rounder for Frost?? He was taken in the rookie draft and has played 12 games. Tell 'em they're dreaming!

  16. We made a decision a long time ago that anyone could become a member of this site as long as they were prepared to abide by our code of conduct and rules. Ash has always been respectful of the club and the site. Please show him the same respect.

  17. Bizarre. All they've done is follow the rules the AFL put in place. Sydney didn't introduce free agency or COLA.

  22. I just think this is very smart recruiting. A genuinely skilful player. If he doesn't make it, we have lost nothing. If he makes it, we have gained plenty.

  27. It's not rewarding us for being poor, it's helping us because we've been poor. Anyone who uses the "Franklin for 19" is just being silly. I and most other Melbourne supporters would take the flag and pick 19 any day. Hawthorn are welcome to finish near-last every year if they'd like a higher pick. As for your last line - I'd prefer you stayed and be the good contributor to the forum that you used to be.

  28. He was their first pick in the Rookie draft of 2011. It could be argued he got games this year because of the absence of Davis, Mohr and others. Pick 23 is way too high, that is the sort of pick being discussed for Levi Greenwood who missed the B & F by one vote.

  29. 'The Herald Sun reports that forgotten Hawthorn big man Sam Grimley wants to be traded to gain more senior opportunities elsewhere after failing to break into the Hawks line-up despite terrific VFL form. The 200cm Grimley kicked 45 goals for Box Hill Hawks to win the VFL's goalkicking award. The 23-year-old, who is contracted to the Hawks for next year, played each of his three AFL games last year and sees little hope of adding to his tally in an attack that boasts the likes of Jarryd Roughead and Jack Gunston.' Surely given our lack of firepower up front and our need for s genuine second ruck, Grimley is worth consideration?

  32. The AFL is run by an independent commission but it set a precedent last year of taking notice of the clubs who were upset about Melbourne's application for draft assistance because of the fact that we had recently been the subject of a tanking investigation. Now the AFL is colluding with a club that has been involved in at best poor governance over a drugs program that involved injecting its players with thousands of needles. The collusion involves assisting the Bombers (who lost draft picks as part of the sanctions against them) in a substantial way with regard to a "trade" deal that's nothing less than a phony scam. I can see clubs like Hawthorn and Collingwood up in arms over this.

  33. ash, i feel for you as a supporter. i have some close friends who are bomber supporters and i know how they feel but, as for not knowing what was taken, i don't buy that there must have been records kept by the club for such an extensive undertaking that they have "disappeared" is damning this also puts the onus of proving innocence back on the club, saying we don't know doesn't wash the only thing stopping the club moving on is the disingenuous obstructiveness and delaying tactics of the clubs administration and hird like you i hope it can be wrapped up quickly and we all get back to footy, but alas i see it dragging on and on

  37. I don't want people to think I was bagging out Melbourne in my response. I was quoting how a lot of the football public view Melbourne. I think most of you know I have a soft spot for the Dees. You are right rpfc, there is no easy way out. I mentioned in another post that I am preparing for a stretch similar to Carltons after their salary cap breaches in the early 2000's. It's hard atm, everyone wants to see Essendon suffer, and suffer, and then suffer some more. James Hird has disappointed me. In fact that is an understatement. A lot of people have done a lot of things wrong, and no one from Essendon, the AFL or anywhere want to own up to it. It's very frustrating. Still, I have no control over it. I'm just a supporter who is enjoying the sport I loved less and less by the week. Having said all of that, this current Ryder/FA voiding contract issue, I agree with a lot of what is said here. It's dangerous. The whole breaching duty of care clause is dangerous. Where does it stop. What is Jack Trengrove says he was mismanaged by the Melbourne doctors with his injury, which in his mind is a breach of duty of care, and wants to walk away from the club for nothing. I really think it's a can of worms the AFL don't want opened. So while people are going nuts over Essendon getting pick 21, keeping this case out of the grievance tribunal might be doing every club a favour.

  38. Yes, how anyone can equate the rules of compensation for Frawley being followed to Ess/Port altering the foundation of trading contracts is beyond me, 55. We may be bleating, but it is with good reason, and that isn't diminished by our oh-so-great FA experiences of late...

  39. This is why we need to take McCartin at 3. If one of hogan or Dawes goes down we look too thin up top. Brayshaw at 2 and McCartin at 3 , presuming Petracca goes number 1.

  40. This too much. I have a job people. I need answers.

  41. If St Kilda end up preferring Mccartin over Petracca, we would be completely foolish to trade either pick 2 or 3. Acquiring Petracca and Brayshaw would set up our midfield for the next 10 years, with one who is compared to a fast Dustin Martin (without the personality deficiencies) and another who is compared to Ollie Wines. Unless we can get Dangerfield, there is no better result. These boys are also ready made players, no waiting in the wings for these beasts.
