  1. I couldn't be less emotional about this. he's just a business transaction, a commodity. his myriad of issues aren't worth the effort. Make no mistake, he may have walked. But there's a size 10 boot mark on his arse

  2. Lols at anyone being underwhelmed by a player of Lamumba's calibre wanting to come to our club. I imagine they're the same folk who questioned the inclusions of Cross and Vince too. Is it fair to say supporters on this forum are just clueless when it comes to the assessment of our list? Our lack of skill and ability to break lines and opposition defensive zones in our backhalf is almost non-existent and is evidenced largely by the huge discrepancy in inside 50 counts this year. Here is a player, who unlike anyone in our back six, has the running ability and boldness to take the game on and provide attacking run off the backflank. He is someone who possesses a desire to lead, is an extremely professional trainer and player and someone who plays as if they care. Same can't be said for still so many on our list. How can any supporter not be thrilled that a player of those attributes has a desire to come to our club and help reshape it, regardless of his philosophies and beliefs outside of football? The MFC is changing. We are shedding our old skin. And some supporters are blinded by players who have been on our list for far too long and provide too little. Take your red and blue glasses off and wake up to the fact that the personality types and lack of professionalism evident in some of the senior players on our list who have been there for years is the reason Roos is targetting players like Lamumba, Cross, Vince etc. Frawley out is a win on it's own, especially with what we're getting back and the trading potential it gives us. I've said that from the start. Lamumba is an enormous upgrade on any player we've had running around on the HBF. He's a leader, he works hard, he cares, he's bold. Wake the [censored] up.

  6. I tell you what I would rather - Lumumba running 20 and kicking it 50 to a contest than Grimes or Terlich chipping it sideways and missing targets in dangerous positions.

  8. Compared to what? His 2014 Disposal Efficiency was just over 78%. Not too shabby, and would put him in our top handful. FWIW, Nathan Jones' average was 73.4%, Jack watts 80%, Bernie Vince 64.6% ... Speaking of stats, for this season from the Collingwood site (washed my hands afterwards): "He was a consistent performer ... winning 20 or more disposals in eight games, ranking fifth at the club for total disposals (420), first for rebound 50s (63), fifth for inside 50s (62) and second for bounces (25). Lumumba has been remarkably consistent when it comes to winning the footy in recent years. He won 420 disposals in 2014. In 2013, he won 424, while in 2011 he won 420. In fact, he has won between 402 and 424 disposals in five of his past six seasons." You'd have to wonder how many others on our back line would get a game at Collingwood, yet alone have stats like that. Speaking of stats, hidden away amongst his achievements, in 2009 he won Collingwood's Best Clubman award. Welcome to the Dees HL. Just don't believe what you read in the papers.

  10. Adelaide wants to know if Dangerfield has signed his last contract with the club, and they want to know now. But the cards are in the hands of Dangerfield - if he wants his freedom - all he has to do is endure 2015 at the Crows. My god it will be a feral time, and he will regret a decision not to leave now if he has decided to go via Free Agency. Keep the pressure up on the situation - if Adelaide can't get him to even verbally commit - they might try to force him out. A deal now will be 100 times better than compensation next year.

  13. Hell of a lot of, obviously, uneducated opinions. We're talking about a 2 (or is it 3?) time Premiership player who is still only 26, that's just played 23 games in a team that finished 3rd. We have 10 regulars that aren't up to sniff, and folk are turning their nose up at Varcoe? Let not forgot we're trading a bloke who can't get on the park, has questionable moral fibre, [removed that bit. unfounded gossip] and has a couple of [injunctions].

  16. So...you would rather Roos get nothing for his best player than something? Even though you are criticising him for not getting a good return for him? You are having it both ways - Roos is living in the real world - where our most talented player has major issues, has missed 51 games through injury, and doesn't want to play at the club anymore. The situation sucks - Roos' handling of it doesn't.

  18. Can't believe this is all actually happening. I loved Mitch so much, brought so much hope to my heart and the club. I literally sat at the MCG watching the joy on peoples faces, including a lot of young Demon fans, as he would fly for massive pack marks, and kick amazing goals. The great Number 11 lived again. And now it has come to this. I now know how Obi-Wan felt. I am just gutted.

  19. Do I really think we'll get him; probably not. That's Mr Reality Do I really want him at Melbourne ; you bet !! That's Mr Hopeful However the dance of subterfuge that is Trade season rarely moves to either a normal beat or recognisable choreography. It is however a game of bluff, double bluff, counter bluff and bluff and bravado. Often things are not as they seem and even when they are they can change. What we see currently is in the main clubs and players/managers testing the waters. They often can't be seen to be too enthusiastic about this or that lest a perceived value or price rises as a result. Some trades/moves become simple ( relatively ) Lumumba being a prime example; I'm outta here , I want to go there. Do it - make it happen.. Done Then there's the rest. Opening gambits, tentative refusals ,coy interest, blatant lying, changes on the fly, opportunities seized. Any combination can happen , even all of the above. It's horse trading 101. What if, how about, not good enough , interested but.....and so we go on. Though some things can be sorted prior to the commencement of the official trading period even as our learned poster Red Leg suggest some can be a very 'old deal ' a lot of deals only really gather legs and speed once other deals/trades happen. It's the domino effect. Sometimes some very surprising results happen that could not possibly have been realistically entertained at the beginning. The thing is, players and clubs alike can change minds after a rethink or as other permutations unfold. I still don't think its likely Danger will be a Dee, but I don't write it off out of hand as being 100% impossible either. Words are words.... Actions can be vastly different

  20. Dunn says he's a little disgruntled but overall it's good for Mitch. Garland says Frawley going is what's best for him and he's a mate first and a team mate second. 2 of our senior players and better performers of the last 2 years simply don't care when 2 of our top half dozen players leave. I yearn for the good old days of Beamer giving Brock a send off. No wonder we don't win. The jumper and the club mean nothing to these guys.

  21. This is one of the only things in football I can say I've got a link to... but I know Trav pretty well and he is terrific fella. I don't see him regularly enough to guarantee that I can find out if this trade is going to happen or not, but if I do get the chance I'll see what I can get. I'd be happy with him at the club though, has his 'moments' on the field so to speak but would inject some class into the forward half of the field.

  24. I know it's not the point, but that would be Geelong anyway. I'm relieved it's not Collingwood. The deal might actually get done in a reasonable time frame now. It's bad enough that we're going to have to deal with the Pies for Lumumba.

  26. I seriously doubt Nathan Jones would still hang around with him and have him at his house if that rumour was true. Your captain entertaining the guy that slipped one in your missus is not a good look. Unless it was Jonsey's missus and he was into it. But this scenario is more in BBO's area of expertise so I'll leave it there.

  27. Signed up seven kid members to the club yesterday. Three of whom were new-born sons of mates of mine - fathers all support the Crows. Get Danger and we've got these boys for life. That said, it'll be bloody hard to dislodge Danger from Adelaide. But everyone knows that. As an aside, and I've posted it before, but my son is the youngest ever member of this club. In its entire history. Signed him up as soon as I found out his sex and could give him a name - he was 20 week fetus at the time. His favourite player is Bernie Vince. Well, I reckon it is - he can't talk yet.

  33. try not to be so melodramatic 1. It seems very likely to me that the official story on all this is at least partially BS. Too much doesn't add up. We don't know for sure to what extent MC was actually wanted back at the MFC. 2. A month ago we thought MC was just a write-off for the club. Now we at least get something. History has shown this could well be a blessing in disguise. 3. The bloke is not very likely to do much damage, hopefully his leg actually breaks off at his first training session 4. Roos is here to rebuild the culture - being free of an obvious dropkick scum like this is positive in that regard 5. Everybody loses players and thinks 'oh woe is me, we are always getting shafted' how would you like to lose Buddy for pick 19?

  40. If days like today don't make you hate being a Melbourne supporter, nothing will. It's just beyond belief how we consistently get screwed, by the AFL and players alike.

  41. So angry at this development, The AFL is turning into the Premier League, where the good clubs get better and the clubs down the bottom get shafted, It's a joke, if we don't improve soon our good players will just nominate a club they want and they will go there.

  42. Geelong will have to do a sensible trade or risk him going to the draft where Collingwood could pick him up ahead of them. I hope Frawley picks Hawthorn to wipe the smug smile off the Chris Scott's dial (gifted a premiership seen no evidence he can actually coach) and we pass them on the ladder in the years to come. As for Mitch I dont know what to believe..... very disappointed with the whole affair.
