  1. Was just reported on channel 7. Personally awsome news. Its showed that him missing has been a big blow for this club. His direction and leadership on field is something we are lacking at the moment. Well done Crossy! Good hard country tough nut!

  3. Very rough. He's a not particularly articulate 20 year old footballer just trying to spread a positive message. I know the message is not particularly helpful for those of us who have BTDT, but it's nice to know that some of the young players are optimistic still.

  5. What a depressing group of grumpy old men this place has become. It's like walking in to a bar with your new wife and having a group of sad old men tell you all the sob stories of how horrible their divorces were. Everybody is so comfortable being miserable that they try to shut down anything that might give them hope. It's become 'cool' to be the most depressed person here. I thought it was good to hear Kent saying those things because he's a WA boy and good mates with another WA boy, who happens to be the most important player on our list. That he wants to put it on record is a good thing.

  6. Mark Stevens ‏@Stevo7AFL 50s One of footy's best feelgood stories will roll on. Daniel Cross, who looked done and dusted at the end of 2013, to play on in 2015. Mark Stevens ‏@Stevo7AFL 1m Cross had a 15-game trigger to guarantee another year ... he's two short of that after a broken leg, but it won't matter. All sorted Even before he got injured I would have thought it would make sense to have him for another year. He has been great.

  7. Weird reactions here. The kid is 21, and has never looked terrible. Why the hate?

  8. No. Would be the hypocrite of the century if he left the Lions now. No chance of him leaving.

  9. Actually if rearrange the letters of Jonestown you get ewsjonton which is eerily close to Essendon. Freakin you out huh ?

  10. I find it impossible to believe that at least one player out of 40+ didn't discuss the program with their manager or the players association.

  11. Do or die for Luke I would suggest, cannot see the wisdom in handing him the vest. Roos running the eye over our fringe lads ? Best of luck son.

  12. He has never been more effective than in the 8 or so good games he has played down back this season. He is still young and is learning some excellent defensive traits back there being a part of a defence that has reduced the score kicked against us by 7 goals. And, OD, of course if someone offered a capable midfield replacement for him we would have to look at it - but what player doesn't qualify for that kind of statement? Very few. I would have traded his flashy marks for some substance in a heartbeat last October, but 2014 has seen progress from Howe, and Roos is using his skills to great effect in the backline.

  13. I think he is learning how to be a forward by playing in defence. Give it time.

  14. He's a first year player, for crying out loud. I highly doubt he is "annoyed" at being in the twos, and if he is, he needs a good shot of reality.

  15. To paraphrase: the article was posted at TEN.55, and games against Melbourne "of-TEN resembled a training drill." This comment was brought to you by Miss Quote, and the number TEN.

  20. I big issue for me that I havent seen rasied here or brought up through any external source is the role of the AFLPA in this disaster. I recon they should be a critical support to the players but from what I have read they appear to have been caught up in the Essendon twaddle, I assume with the agreement of the players. My view is they should remain well and truely at arms length from anyone other than the players. I was very concerned to see that the AFLPA and Essendon lawyers appeared to be one and the same. From memory the lead QC for the players legal team was previously used by the Bombers. There is a significant conflict of interest between the Bombers and the players and the AFLPA should not be working with an Essendon funded legal team, they should be providing independant advice. Essendon payng the players legal costs comes at cost, the lawyers will do the bidding of the bloke writng the cheques not the susposed client. I have concerns that the players remain loyal to a club that I think has questionable morals and have clearly set themselves and the players on a collision course with the rest of the world. The AFLPA regardless of the wishes of the players should ensure that each player has access to independant high quality confidential legal advice that they can access if they as individuals decide they would like to. This pack mentality is a real concern for these young men.

  21. if Hird helped construct this letter it could bring down the whole club. Head coach writes letter on behalf of club doctor in relation to drug supplements then denies it exists??? Fcuk me. Jail time looms for some of these suits.

  23. The Bombers are currently running the wimbledon defence (just keep whacking things back over the net until the other person makes a mistake). The supporters appear to have envoked the ostrich defence.

  24. If he can run the game out and get half a dozen good, hard tackles, he'll keep his spot in the team methinks. He's got a physical presence, Roos will be wanting him to leave the opposition with some bruises Sunday morning.

  27. Was at training today for about an hour and the most impressive thing I saw was Tapscott's ability to put a low, hard foot pass onto a leading player's chest. Virtually everyone else was waiting (sometimes without being rewarded) for someone to drop their defender and then put the ball high - to be marked overhead. This, of course, makes it much more likely that a defender will be able to spoil. it will be interesting to see if he can produce this skill on Saturday and also to see if he can find some space himself.

  30. Frawley is the best hand puncher in the comp. Everytime he stuffs up he punches his left hand with his right. God knows he should be the best, he gets enough practice. PS. My Avatar and handle will change next year, any suggestions.

  34. Appears you are going to have to fall in love with him as is going to be around for a while

  35. You didn't I said the reason he is an emergency is we are running low on players to fill spots. I can see little other reason for him getting a run.

  36. With the recent injuries It would suggest he is getting close to the last man standing. Not sure it has much to do with ability.

  41. What world do you live in Saty? Seriously? Because he is a premiership player does not mean he is AFL standard NOW. Ron Barassi won a few flags, does that make him AFL standard now? Your arguments are not even arguments, they are figments of your imagination. Pedersen and Dunn are a 'few wrong'. You could also put Jetta in that bunch. That's 3. That does not set a precedent for the rest of the list. And yes, Demonland does mean a lot to you because you love to tell the players all about it and then run back here to tell us about the discussions you've had and the personal questions you ask the players. You love that attention, so don't try and tell us this place means so little to you. You aren't fooling anybody.

  42. Your 'reply' totally and utterly missed the point - you tried to argue for Byrnes by saying he is a 2 time premiership player. So what? The bloke is long past it now. Do we get Jason Dunstall on the list and, even when he isn't getting a game, you say he stays on the list because he is a premiership player? Or this fascination with saying mentioning Spencer getting a 2 year deal - that's not the point at all. Numerous posters have made the comment that certain players WILL NOT TAKE US FORWARD AS A CLUB. This is regardless of contract situation, it's simply that they will have no impact on where the club wants to go. This board is also full of more opinions on players that were correct. Of course we get a few wrong but many of the players mentioned right now have had chance after chance after chance... and fluffed it. The sooner you realise how poor our list is the better off you'll be. Oh, and if people are blocking you Saty I'd take a good hard look at myself. Everyone can handle an opinion, but it's how you deliver it that counts, and you do that very, very poorly.

  43. No, you get lambasted because you ignore everyone else and just go on your merry way. You moan about people not listening to you and that it's just 'your opinion', yet your flippant attitude shows that you don't take anyone else's views seriously. Heck, on the previous page you said you are waiting for someone to name 20 worth delisting, which I had done a few pages prior to that. You don't listen and you don't try to, and when someone presents you with some facts you totally ignore and give an asinine response. The hole you are in is one you've dug for yourself - we haven't needed to help you. The fact is our list is poor in many areas and needs to be fixed. FACT.

  45. Damning and factual need not be mutually exclusive I suggest they are damning because they are factual
    1 point
  46. Facts? We are 16th with 4 wins after winning 6 of the previous 44 matches. That tells you how competitive we are. And I said that those players would struggle to get a game in a 'MIDDLING' side. The Saints and GWS are anything but that. The VFL reviews by Allison for some of those that I have mentioned have been largely damning. You are not picking holes in my view that 27 players have not yet proven they are apart of the medium term future of the club. That is what we are talking about - not how many will be delisted at the end of the year - but how many will join the dozen (or just above) AFL standard players we have. I know Kent, Salem, JKH, and Hogan will join them soon. I have very little evidence for the other 27 (or 26 if you want to treat Westrupp as a sub-human). You talk about facts but where is the evidence?

  47. My opinion is certainly not outlandish at All in terms of the MFC list. But that is your opinion. I am looking at the recruiting of this club up to 2012 draft. We recruited the wrong type of player. Plan and simple.
